Abstract

In this paper, fractal Bowtie antennas are proposed. To validate our structure and to develop an analytic method to determine the geometry parameters, the Lumped theory is used. The proposed structure is simulated using CST Microwave Studio and then Compared to the electrical Model. The proposed circuit has the same resonant aspect when comparing to the Bowtie antenna with a much reduced simulation time. The Bowtie antenna has a box with a size of   44 *80 *1.5 mm3. Abstract

The current study proposes the utilization of solar panels to power high frequency speed buses like the Bus Rapid Transit in Am-man city.  Based on Photo Voltaic technology, mounting PV solar panels system on the top of the track of the high frequency bus, ar-ranged at azimuth angle ranging between 0°- 90° with the best tilt angle measured 12°, along an actual unshaded track of 18 km (of the 25 km total pathway track), resulted in the generation of more than18 MWp (On Grid system). Such power is used not only to charge the bus and to operating facilities inside the city instead of the conven-tional ways as illustrated in the coming later.

Abstract

Nowadays we all are surrounded by Big data. The term ‘Big Data’ itself indicates huge volume, high velocity, variety and veracity i.e. uncertainty of data which gave rise to new difficulties and challenges. Big data generated may be structured data, Semi Structured data or unstructured data. For existing database and systems lot of difficulties are there to process, analyze, store and manage such a Big Data.  The Big Data challenges are Protection, Curation, Capture, Analysis, Searching, Visualization, Storage, Transfer and sharing. Map Reduce is a framework using which we can write applications to process huge amount of data, in parallel, on large clusters of commodity hardware in a reliable manner. Lot of efforts have been put by different researchers to make it simple, easy, effective and efficient. In our survey paper we emphasized on the working of Map Reduce, challenges, opportunities and recent trends so that researchers can think on further improvement.

Abstract

This research deals with software requirements ambiguity problems. Among these are incomplete, incorrect, improper, inaccurate and unambiguous requirements. Interestingly, published material related to Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) problems discusses ambiguity as one of the most conversed problems. This paper proposes a Software Requirement Ambiguity Avoidance Framework (SRAAF) to assist and support requirement engineers to write unambiguous requirements, by selecting correct elicitation technique based on the evaluation of various attributes and by applying the W6H technique. We explored existing theories and the outcomes of experimental research to construct the framework. On the basis of existing and inferred knowledge, we tried to justify proposed frameworks components. Our selection process focuses on various situational attributes. We added various situational attributes related to project, stakeholders and requirement engineer for the selection process. Newly devised approach chooses techniques other than traditional techniques or most common techniques and deals with ambiguity to capture the correct requirements information from stakeholders. The framework will be able to address the selection and ambiguity issues in a more effective way and can handle vagueness. New evidence related to attributes and adequacy matrix can be easily added to the framework without any inconvenience.

Abstract

Evaluation in serious games is an important aspect; it aims to evaluate the good transmission of pedagogical objectives, the performance of student in relation to these objectives defined in the pedagogical scenario, the content of the course and the predefined criteria. However, the effectiveness of learning is under-studied due to the complexity involved to gamify the assessment concept, particularly when it comes to intangible measures related to the progression of learning outcomes, which is among the most important aspects of evaluation in serious games. This paper reviews the literature regarding assessment due to their importance in the learning process with a detailed assessment plan applied on serious game. Then, it presents a framework used to facilitate the assessment design integrated in serious games. Finally, a significant example of how the proposed framework proved successful with corresponding results will conclude the paper.

Abstract

The use of grid power systems based on the combinations of various electrical networks, information technology, and communication layers called as Smart Grid systems. The technique of smart grid suppressed the problems faced by conventional grid systems such as inefficient energy management, improper control actions, grid faults, human errors, etc. The recent research on smart grid provides the approach for the real-time control and monitoring of grid power systems based on bidirectional communications. However, the smart grid is yet to improve regarding efficiency, energy management, reliability, and cost-effectiveness by considering its real-time implementation. In this paper, we present the real-time design of efficient monitoring and control of grid power system using the remote cloud server. We utilized the remote cloud server to fetch, monitor and control the real-time power system data to improve the universal control and response time. The proper hardware panel designed and fabricated to establish the connection with the grid as well as remote cloud users. The authenticated cloud users are provisioned to access and control the grid power system from anywhere securely. For the user authentication, we proposed the novel approach to secure the complete smart grid system. Finally, we demonstrated the effectiveness of real-time monitoring and control of the grid power method with the use of structure of practical framework.

Abstract

This paper presents an analytic solution to the scattering properties of chiral elliptic cylinder embedded in infinite chiral medium due to incident plane wave. The external electromagnetic fields as well as the internal electromagnetic fields are written in terms Mathieu functions and expansion coefficients. In order to obtain both the internal and external unknown field expansion coefficients, the boundary conditions are applied rigorously at the surface of different chiral/chiral material. Results are plotted graphically for the normalized scattering widths for elliptic cylinders of different sizes and chiral materials to show the effects of these parameters on scattering cross widths. It is shown numerically by adding the external chiral material to elliptic cylinder provides more parameters to control the RCS.

Abstract

Cognitive radio is a technique that was originally created for the proper use of the radio electric spectrum due its underuse. A few methods were used to predict the network traffic to determine the occupancy of the spectrum and then use the ‘holes’ between the transmissions of primary users. The goal is to guarantee a complete transmission for the second user while not interrupting the trans-mission of primary users. This study seeks the multifractal generation of traffic for a specific radio electric spectrum as well as a bio-inspired route estimation for secondary users. It uses the MFHW algorithm to generate multifractal traces and two bio-inspired algo-rithms: Ant Colony Optimization and Max Feeding to calculate the secondary user’s path. Multifractal characteristics offer a predic-tion, which is 10% lower in comparison with the original traffic values and a complete transmission for secondary users. In fact, a hybrid strategy combining both bio-inspired algorithms promise a reduction in handoff. The purpose of this research consists on deriving future investigation in the generation of multifractal traffic and a mobility spectrum using bio-inspired algorithms.

Abstract

As wind turbine output is proportional to the cube of wind speed, the wind turbine generator output fluctuates due to wind speed variations. Hence, if the power capacity of wind power generators becomes large, wind power generator output can have an influence on the power system frequency. Therefore, this study investigates the influence of governor control systems of synchronous generators (SGs) for minimizing frequency fluctuations with high wind power penetration level, when a total capacity of SGs is considered as 100 MVA. It is seen that when both SGs operate as governor free (GF) operation, system perform better frequency control. But it can not be maintained to the acceptable level when SGs operate at GF-LFC or LFC-GF operation with wind power capacity about 5% of total capacity. Finally, it is seen that when several interconnected SGs are operated with different control modes, system frequency become more severe for 10% capacity of wind power.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v2i1.180

Abstract

Learning how to speak in order to communicate with others is part of growing up. Like a normal person, deaf and mutes also need to learn how to connect to the world they live in. For this purpose, an Electronic Glove or E-Glovewas developed as a teaching aid for the hearing impaired particularly children. E-Glove makes use ofthe American Sign Language (ASL) asthe basis for recognizing hand gestures. It was designed using flex sensors and an accelerometer to detect the degree of bend made by the fingers as well asa movement of the hand. E-Glove transmits the data received from the sensors wirelessly to a computer and then displays the letter or basic word that correspondsto a gesture made by the individual wearing it. E-Glove provides a simple, accurate, reliable, cheap, speedy gesture recognition and user-friendlyteaching aid for the instructors that are teaching sign language to the deaf and mute community.
