Abstract

Methods of image processing can recognize the images of melanoma lesions border in addition to the disease compared to a skilled dermatologist. New swarm intelligence technique depends on meta-heuristic that is industrialized to resolve composite real problems which are problematic to explain by the available deterministic approaches. For an accurate detection of all segmentation and classification of skin lesions, some dealings should be measured which contain, contrast broadening, irregularity quantity, choice of most optimal features, and so into the world. The price essential for the action of progressive disease cases is identical high and the survival percentage is low. Many electronic dermoscopy classifications are advanced depend on the grouping of form, surface and dye features to facilitate premature analysis of malignance. To overcome this problematic, an effective prototypical for accurate boundary detection and arrangement is obtainable. The projected classical recovers the optimization segment of accuracy in its pre-processing stage, applying contrast improvement of lesion area compared to the contextual. In conclusion, optimized features are future fed into of artifical bee colony (ABC) segmentation. Wide-ranging researches have been supported out on four databases named as, ISBI (2016, 2017, 2018) and PH2. Also, the selection technique outclasses and successfully indifferent the dismissed features. The paper shows a different process for lesions optimal segmentation that could be functional to a variation of images with changed possessions and insufficiencies is planned with multistep pre-processing stage.

Abstract

The electric power from the system should be reliable and economical for consumer’s equipment satisfaction. An electric power system consists of many generators, transformers, transmission lines, loads, etc. For the power system network, dynamic performance and stability are important. The system is lost its stability by some disturbances i.e., load variations, generator failure, prime mover failure, transmission line outage, etc. Whenever load variations in the system, generator rotor speed will vary, means oscillations in the rotor speed, which is deviating from rated speed. The excitation system will control the generator rated line voltage. When fault occurs at any equipment in the system, the system will unstable. If fault occurs at generator, the generator oscillates. To reduce the oscillations and to make the system stable used power system stabilizers (PSS’s). Here, three types of PSS’s are used i.e., PSS1B, PSS2B, PSS4B. Comparisons of three PSS’s are on the multi machine system under some disturbance. From the observations, concluding that PSS4B is quickly control the oscillations in the physical parameters of machine in the system than other power system stabilizers.

Abstract

Gender classification demonstrates high accuracy in many previous works. However, it does not generalize very well in unconstrained settings and environments. Furthermore, many proposed Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based solutions vary significantly in their characteristics and architectures, which calls for optimal CNN architecture for this specific task. In this work, a hand-crafted, custom CNN architecture is proposed to distinguish between male and female facial images. This custom CNN requires smaller input image resolutions and significantly fewer trainable parameters than some popular state-of-the-arts such as GoogleNet and AlexNet. It also employs batch normalization layers which results in better computation efficiency. Based on experiments using publicly available datasets such as LFW, CelebA and IMDB-WIKI datasets, the proposed custom CNN delivered the fastest inference time in all tests, where it needs only 0.92ms to classify 1200 images on GPU, 1.79ms on CPU, and 2.51ms on VPU. The custom CNN also delivers performance on-par with state-of-the-arts and even surpassed these methods in CelebA gender classification where it delivered the best result at 96% accuracy. Moreover, in a more challenging cross-dataset inference, custom CNN trained using CelebA dataset gives the best gender classification accuracy for tests on IMDB and WIKI datasets at 97% and 96% accuracy respectively.

Abstract

Cloud computing has emerged as a practical paradigm for providing IT resources, infrastructure and services. This has led to the establishment of datacenters that have substantial energy demands for their operation. This work investigates the optimization of energy consumption in cloud datacenter using energy efficient allocation of tasks to resources. The work seeks to develop formal optimization models that minimize the energy consumption of computational resources and evaluates the use of existing optimization solvers in testing these models. Integer linear programming (ILP) techniques are used to model the scheduling problem. The objective is to minimize the total power consumed by the active and idle cores of the servers’ CPUs while meeting a set of constraints. Next, we use these models to carry out a detailed performance comparison between a selected set of Generic ILP and 0-1 Boolean satisfiability based solvers in solving the ILP formulations. Simulation results indicate that in some cases the developed models have saved up to 38% in energy consumption when compared to common techniques such as round robin. Furthermore, results also showed that generic ILP solvers had superior performance when compared to SAT-based ILP solvers especially as the number of tasks and resources grow in size.

Abstract

Globally, the aging and the lifestyle lead to rabidly increment of the number of type two diabetes (T2D) patients. Critically, T2D considers as one of the most challenging healthcare issue. Importantly, physical activity (PA) plays a vital role of improving glycemic control T2D. However, daily monitoring of T2D using wearable devices/ sensors have a crucial role to monitor glucose levels in the blood. Nowadays, daily physical activity (PA) and exercises have been used to manage T2D. The main contribution of the proposed study is to review the literature about managing and monitoring T2D with daily PA through wearable devices and sensors. Finally, challenges and future trends are also highlighted.

Abstract

This project presents a strategy of field control then sliding mode control put in to the conversion process of wind energy containing an asynchronous generator with double fed (DFAG; DFIG). A model was developed for each component of the wind turbine (turbine, DFAG and cascade rectifier-inverter). MPPT device must be introduced in order to obtain maximum energy efficiency so that PI-MPPT method is made. The objective is to apply this command to control independently the active and reactive powers generated by the asynchronous generator uncoupled by orientation from the flow. The results of digital simulations obtained show the improvement of the performances of the sliding control compared to the field control, also it has provided information on the commands available techniques as reference tracking and robustness.

Abstract

This work shows an application based on neural networks to determine the prediction of air pollution, especially particulate material of 2.5 micrometers length. This application is considered of great importance due to the impact on human health and high impact due to the agglomeration of people in cities. The implementation is performed using data captured from several devices that can be installed in specific locations for a particular geographical environment, especially in the locality of Kennedy in Bogotá. The model obtained can be used for the design of public policies that control air quality.

Abstract

The life development and increase the number of internet users imposed an increase in data circulating on the internet network and then make the network more congestion. As a result of all this, some problems arose such as time delay in packets delivery, loss of packets, and exceed the buffer capacity for the middle routers. To overcome those problems, transmission control protocol and active queue management (TCP/AQM) have been used. AQM is the main approach used to control congestion and overcome those problems to improve network performance. This work proposes to use the proportional-integral (PI) controller with a genetic algorithm (GA) as an active queue manager for routers of the Internet. The simulation results show a good performance for managing the congestion with using proportional-integral genetic algorithm (GA-PI) controller better than the PI controller.

Abstract

In order to address the challenges that have come with the exploding demand for higher speed, traffic growth and mobile wireless devices, Mobile network operators have decided to move to the notion of small cells based on cloud radio access network. The merits of cloud based RAN includes the ease of infrastructure deployment and network management as well as the fact that its performance are optimized and it is cost effective the merits of cloud based RAN includes the ease of infrastructure deployment and network management as well as the fact that its performance are optimized and it is cost effective. Notwithstanding, cloud radio access network comes with so many strict requirements to be fulfilled for its fronthaul network. In this paper, we have presented these requirements for a 5G fronthaul network. Particular interest on the time division multiplex passive optical network’s challenge of latency was treated by proposing an optimized version of the round robin dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm. Results obtained show an improvement in the latency of the original algorithm which meets the fronthaul requirement. Other test parameters like jitter and BER were also improved by our proposed optimized algorithm.

Abstract

In last years, dc-dc converters solve the most issues in the industrial application in the area of power electronics, especially renewable energy, military applications and affiliated engineering developments. They are used to convert the DC input that unregulated to regulated output perhaps larger or smaller than input according to the type of converters. This paper presents three primary control method used for negative output Super lift Luo DC-DC converter. These methods include a Voltage mode control (VMC), Current mode control (CMC), and Sliding mode control (SMC). The goal of this article is to study and selected an appropriate and superior control scheme for negative DC-DC converters. The simulation results show the effectiveness of Sliding mode control for enhancing the performance of the negative dc-dc converter. Also, this method can keep the output voltage constant under load conditions. simulation results obtained by the MATLAB/Simulink environment.
