Abstract

Balanced amplifierĀ is the structure proposed in this article, it provides better performance. In fact, the single amplifier meets the specification for noise figure and gain but fails to meet the return loss specification due to the large mis-matches on the input & outputs. To overcome this problem one solution is to use balanced amplifier topography. In this paper, a wide-band and highgain microwave balanced amplifier constituted with branch line coupler circuit is proposed. The amplifier is unconditionally stable in the band [9-13] GHz where the gain is about 20dB. The input reflection (S11) and output return loss (S22) at 11 GHz are -33.4dB and -33.5dB respectively.

Abstract

This article deals with the PV based DC/DC boost chopper integrated nine level inverter. This topology requires 7 switches in minimum to obtain a nine level stepped wave output. So the main objective of this paper is to develop a 9 level AC output using PV based DC/DC boost chopper. In the case of conventional multi-level inverter, 16 switches were utilized and the number of sources needed was also more. Here the proposed system comprises of single PV panel and the switches used are also less. Also PV is integrated with DC/DC boost chopper is used to increase the source input level of the inverter. Using MATLAB platform, the proposed system is simulated with a resistive and inductive load. The similar results are obtained in prototype which validates the designed converter.

Abstract

The field of biometrics has evolved tremendously for over the last century. Yet scientists are still continuing to come up with precise and efficient algorithms to facilitate automatic fingerprint recognition systems. Like other applications, an efficient feature extraction method plays an important role in fingerprint based recognition systems. This paper proposes a novel feature extraction method using minutiae points of a fingerprint image and their intersections. In this method, initially, it calculates the ridge ends and ridge bifurcations of each fingerprint image. And then, it estimates the minutiae points for the intersection of each ridge end and ridge bifurcation. In the experimental evaluation, we tested the extracted features of our proposed model using a support vector machine (SVM) classifier and experimental results show that the proposed method can accurately classify different fingerprint images.

Abstract

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. This technology enhances the data rate and capacity using a new radio interface and an optimized core network. This progress was done to satisfy standards defined for the fourth generation of cellular communications in ITU. LTE has two types of transmission: Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) and Time Division Duplex (TDD). Nowadays, LTE-TDD rapidly Grows and takes place of old fixed cellular communications, like WiMAX. Another upcoming technology in the communication industry is High Amplitude Platform Stations (HAPS). Studying the capability of HAPS as a base station for LTE-TDD is the main purpose of this paper. Simulations have done using HAPS channel and compared to Stanford University Interim (SUI) standard channels for different scenarios. Results were compared to achieve a conclusion on HAPS implementation for LTE-TDD based on BER and data throughput.

Abstract

Generation of Electrical Energy from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is acomplex process since the waste has to undergo various unit processes before it is put in to the process of energy production. The modeling of power generation from MSW, therefore has to include all these unit processes, waste flow paths etc. The modeling must also be capable of providing information on important issues like economical, environmental among many others. With the launching of new energy policy by Govt. of India, on liberalization of energy production, Independent power producers (IPP) are exploring Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) as a main source of energy in addition to other renewable sources like fuel cells, solar, wind etc. for production of energy at affordable rates. In this paper, a mathematical model of the power generation using MSW is examined, keeping in view, the composition of waste in India. Abstract

Switching activity and Transition density computation is an essential stage for dynamic power estimation and testing time reduction. The study of switching activity, transition densities and weighted switching activities of pseudo random binary sequences generated by Linear Feedback shift registers and Feed Forward shift registers plays a crucial role in design approaches of Built-In Self Test, cryptosystems, secure scan designs and other applications. This paper proposed an approach to find transition densities, which plays an important role in choosing of test pattern generator We have analyze conventional and proposed designs using our approache, This work also describes the testing time of benchmark circuits. The outcome of this paper is presented in the form of algorithm, theorems with proofs and analyses table which strongly support the same. The proposed algorithm reduces switching activity and testing time up to 51.56% and 84.61% respectively.

Abstract

This paper presents a new approach to the solution of optimal power generation for economic load dispatch (ELD) using gravitational search algorithm (GSA) when all the generators include valve point effects and some/all of the generators have prohibited operating zones. In this paper a gravitational search algorithm is suggested that deals with equality and inequality constraints in ELD problems. A constraint treatment mechanism is also discussed to accelerate the optimization process. To verify the robustness and superiority of the proposed GSA based approach, a practical sized 40-generators case with valve point effects and prohibited operating zones is considered. The simulation results reveal that the proposed GSA approach ensures convergence within an acceptable execution time and provides highly optimal solution as compared to the results obtained from well established heuristic optimization approaches.

Abstract

Genetic Algorithm is an algorithm imitating the natural evolution process in solving optimization problems. All feasible (candidate) solutions would be encoded into chromosomes and undergo the execution of genetic operators in evolution. The evolution itself is a process searching for optimum solution. The searching would stop when a stopping criterion is met. Then, the fittest chromosome of last generation is declared as the optimum solution. However, this optimum solution might be a local optimum or a global optimum solution. Hence, an appropriate stopping criterion is important such that the search is not ended before a global optimum solution is found. In this paper, saturation of population fitness is proposed as a stopping criterion for ending the search. The proposed stopping criteria was compared with conventional stopping criterion, fittest chromosomes repetition, under various parameters setting. The results show that the performance of proposed stopping criterion is superior as compared to the conventional stopping criterion.

Abstract

This paper presents a new method for transmission loss allocation in a deregulated power system. As the power loss is a nonlinear quantity, so to allocate the loss in a common transmission corrider is a difficult task. It allocates transmission losses to loads based on the actual power flow in the lossy lines due to the concerned load. Each lossy line is subdivided into as many sub-lines as corresponding to the numbers of load attached to it. The tracing of power flow through each sub-line is worked out by using proportional sharing method. The power loss in each lossy line is equal with the total loss due to all the sub-lines under it. Then by using Pro-rata for each lossy line, the individual loss for each sub-line is formulated. As the application of Pro-rata is limited to an individual line of the system, so the error in calculation is minimized. The total loss allocated to a particular load is the sum of losses occurred in each lossy lines through which the power is flowing to the concerned load. As this method is based on the actual flow of power in the transmission line corresponding to the concerned load, hence, the loss allocation made by the method gives proper and justifiable allocations to the different loads which are attached to the system. The proposed method is applied to a six-bus system and finds the mismatch in the commonly used methods. Then, it is applied to higher bus systems in which more accurate results are obtained compared to the other methods.

Abstract

In recent times, the reliable and real-time data transmission becomes a mandatory requirement for various industries and organizations due to the large utilization of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. However, the IoT devices need high reliability, precise data exchange and low power utilization which cannot be achieved by the conventional Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols due to link failures and high interferences in the network. Therefore, the Time-Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) networks can be used for link scheduling under the IEEE 802.15.4e standard. In this paper, we propose an Optimized Static Scheduling Technique (OSST) for the link scheduling in IEEE 802.15.4e based TSCH networks. In OSST the link schedule is optimized by considering the packet latency information during transmission by checking the status of the transmitted packets as well as keeping track of the lost data packets from source to destination nodes. We evaluate the proposed OSST model using 6TiSCH Simulator and compare the different performance metrics with Simple distributed TSCH Scheduling.
