Abstract

Physics learning in sound wave material by utilizing sasando musical instruments is one of the learning experiences that allows students to develop cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities. Through sasando, sound material can be learned, for example the concept of factors that affect the frequency, resonance, and intensity of sound. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of applying PBL learning models assisted by sasando musical instruments to the students understanding of concepts and analytical thinking ability. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation and tests. The results of data analysis showed that PBL learning strategies assisted by sasando musical instruments had an effect on students’ both conceptual understanding and analytical thinking ability. The results of the N-Gain pretest and posttest calculations in the experimental class showed an increase in understanding concepts and analytical thinking ability of students. The understanding concept of N-Gain value increases by 51.76% with the medium category, while the value of N-Gain analytical thinking increases by 52.95% with the medium category. In general, the conclusions that can be drawn from this study are PBL learning strategy strategies assisted by sasando musical instruments have a positive effect on understanding concepts and students' analytical thinking skills.
Effectiveness of Project Based Learning Model on Collaborative Ability and Critical Thinking of Senior High School Students

Abstract

In this 21st century educational, students are required to be able to have collaborative competence and critical thinking. So that, the school should be able to prepare students with such competences. This is an increasingly competitive challenge in the world of education. The research aims to analyse the effectiveness of PjBL learning models on the collaborative ability and critical thinking of senior high school students on subject of Structure, Way of Life and Role of Bacteria in Life. The method in this research was experimental research with Pre-Experimental design. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 13 Semarang and MA Nurussalam Semarang with a total of 45 students. We used observation sheets and tests as the instrument. The observation sheet was used to measure collaborative ability while test was used to measure critical thinking skills. The data analysis techniques used standard of criteria and N-gain. Standard of criteria to measure collaborative ability while N-gain to measure increased critical thinking ability. The results of the research obtained (1) The average percentage of the collaborative ability score of class X IPA 2 SMA Negeri 13 Semarang is 71.6% while the class X IPA MA Nurussalam is 71.0%; (2) in the first test, the average percentage of critical thinking ability of class X IPA 2 SMA Negeri 13 Semarang is 62.9% while the class X IPA MA Nurussalam is 78.3%. In the second test, the average percentage of the critical thinking ability score of class X IPA 2 SMA Negeri 13 Semarang is 75.1% while the class X IPA MA Nurussalam is 80.0%. Both classes experienced an increase in the average percentage score of critical thinking abilities. The class X IPA 2 SMA Negeri 13 Semarang has increased by 12.2% while X IPA MA Nurussalam has an increase of 1.7%. Based on the research results it can be concluded that the implementation of PjBL learning model is effective on improving collaborative ability and critical thinking of students in SMA Negeri 13 Semarang and MA Nurussalam Semarang

Abstract

The rapid development of science and knowledge in the 21st century raises competition from each country to create various innovations in various fields. To meet these challenges are those who have the ability to think critically, logically, systematically, and creatively in order to be able to survive and compete globally. This study aims to analyze the development of SSCS-based worksheets on biodiversity materials including syllabus, lesson plans, worksheets, and evaluation tools on students' critical thinking skills (CBC). The learning model used in this study is Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS). The study was conducted at MAN 1 Brebes class X. Samples were taken using a purposive sampling method consisting of 3 classes with a total of 105 students. This study uses R&D research methods with one group pretest-posttest design. Based on the analysis results obtained an average critical thinking ability of students of 86% complete and 14% of incomplete by obtaining an average N-Gain score of 0.6 in the medium category. Furthermore, the average score of pretest-posttest and N-Gain per KBK indicator has quite a small comparison. These results indicate that the development of SSCS-based worksheets is effective against students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Strategy Variable Control (CVS) with scientific teaching material is expected to be able to prepare students to face the challenges of the 21st century, especially in mastering metacognition abilities. This study has purpose to analyze the influence of CVS with scientific teaching materials on metacognition abilities of learners. It was done in grade VII SMP PGRI 1 Ajibarang in the first semester of the academic year of 2019/2020. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. The method used in this study was quantitative method with quasy experimental design using control group design. The data in this study was metacognition abilities collected through questionnaires and observation sheets. The data of metacognition ability were analyzed using regression, coefficient of determination, N-Gain Test, and T-Test. The test results and the regression coefficient of determination showed a significance value of 0.000 > 0.05, therefore, CVS with scientific teaching material has significant effect on the ability of metacognition 83.6%. The N-Gain Test Results indicated the level of increase in the ability of metacognition in the experimental group which is higher than the control group. The results of T-test showed a significance value of 0.00 0> 0.05, therefore, there is a difference in the average score of the experimental group and the control group. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that CVS with scientific teaching material has a significant effect on the ability of metacognition.

Abstract

One of the 21st century life skills that needs to be developed in the education process is critical thinking skills. The importance of being trained in critical thinking skills in learning science is motivated by the results of the 2015 PISA test. critical thinking as 'the correct way of assessing statements' and 'reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do'. In this study, indicators of critical thinking skills measured are providing simple explanations, building basic skills, providing further explanations, and concluding. One potential learning approach to help students become actively involved in learning activities and be able to improve critical thinking skills is the STEM approach. The purpose of this research is to develop a STEM approach digital book with certain characteristics, determine its validity, its practicality, and its effectiveness of the product towards improving students' critical thinking skills. This study uses a development plan from Sugiyono. The subjects of this research are the 8th graders of SMPN 26 Semarang, academic year 2019/2020. The sample as an experimental class (the product is applied in the learning process) is VIII B class, and the control class (used ordinary textbooks) is VIII D class. Data analysis techniques used in this study include descriptive data analysis related to the validity and practicality of the product, while to find out the effectiveness of the product used a normalized N-gain test and a two-sample t-test. Results show that (1) the characteristics of the digital book contained all components of the STEM approach which included aspects of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (2) the developed digital book has valid criteria regarding to the material, media and language aspects (3) digital book developed effectively to improve students' critical thinking skills, and (4) the practicality of using digital book is considered very good by students and teachers).

Abstract

Collaboration and communication are 21st century skills that must have everyone. Therefore, learning needs to be designed that is able to equip students with these skills to be able to continue to develop themselves in the 21st century. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of environmental change learning tools based on STEM-PJBL for student collaboration and communication skills. The STEM-PjBL learning tools used include syllabus, lesson plans, teaching materials, student worksheets and evaluation tools. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 4 Medan and SMA Negeri 16 Medan. The sample was taken using a purposive sampling method with a total sample of 126 students consisting of 4 classes. This research uses quantitative research methods with one group pretest-posttest design. Based on the results of the study showed the collaboration skills of students gained an average score of 0.817 with a very good category. Meanwhile students' communication skills gained an average score of 0.830 in the excellent category. This shows that STEM-PjBL-based environmental change learning tools are effective for student collaboration and communication skills.

Abstract

Indonesia is the second-largest plastic waste producer in the world. This situation provides an entrepreneurship opportunity to process plastic wastes into useful and valuable goods.The integration of two different disciplines science, biology and entrepreneurship, is called bio-entrepreneurship (BEP). The aims of this study were 1) to describe BEP implementation in the learning topic of Environmental Changes at Senior High School (SHS) 3 Slawi, 2) to analyze the effect of BEP implementation on students’ learning achievement, 3) to analyze the effect of BEP implementation on students’ creativity, 4) to analyze the effect of BEP implementation on students’ entrepreneurial interests. BEP was implemented on the Environmental Change topic at SHS 3 Slawi. The population in this study were all 10th-grade students and the sample was fifth tenth-grade science students. The study design used was Time Series Design with one group. Findings showed that there were increases in students learning achievement, creativity, and entrepreneurial interest. BEP had a positive effect on improving biology learning achievement, creativity, and entrepreneurial interest. BEP was also suitable for biology learning to increase learning achievement, creativity, and entrepreneurial interest

Abstract

The development of communication and information technology has become an opportunity in the development of learning. Conventional learning is no longer effective in improving student learning outcomes. So it is important to apply technology integration as a medium and resources in a blended learning system. This study aims to measure how effective the application of blended learning in improving the learning outcomes in hydrocarbon compound. Using quantitative methods, this research is experimental research. The research object was divided into control class and experimental class, data mining was carried out with test and questionnaire. The analysis technique uses N-Gain Score and One-sample T-Test with counting technique assisted by IBM SPSS Statistics 22. The results showed that the application of blended learning to increase students' conceptual understanding in the category of "quite effective" with an increase in the percentage of concept understanding scores in the experimental class by 57.80% was far higher than the increase in the control class by 15.51%. Increasing the character development of students through blended learning is high. The lowest value (lower) is 3.6095 while the highest value (upper) is 3.6858 with an average value of 3.64 can be categorized as high.

Abstract

Salt hydrolysis is a difficult chemical concept because it is microscopic and abstract. These properties can occur misconceptions. The misconception in this material is quite high and is spread across all concepts. Submission of this material with appropriate learning methods and models is expected to reduce student misconceptions. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research aimed at studying the results of the analysis of salt hydrolysis misconceptions after the application of guided inquiry assisted by e-laboratory instructions. This research was conducted at Jekulo 1 High School in the 2018/2019 academic year with 104 research subjects. The method used in this research is quantitative description method. The results obtained showed that students' misconceptions of salt hydrolysis material after the application of guided inquiry assisted by e-laboratory instructions were still high. The results of misconception analysis on salt hydrolysis materials were 47.50%. Misconceptions regarding changes in color in a salt solution, ionic equilibrium in a salt solution, experimental experiments to predict the pH of a salt solution, the acidic acidic nature of a salt solution, and the pH of a suitable salt solution were 41.35%; 62.50%; 35.58%; 37.02%; and 61.06%.

Abstract

Metacognition knowledge is needed in the problem solving process. This knowledge has not been much taught and practiced to students. The research intends to provide information about (1) the profile of students' metacognition knowledge, (2) relationships, and (3) the contribution of metacognition knowledge to cognitive learning outcomes. The research subjects were 143 students of class XI SMAN 10 Semarang with research design of mixed method-sequential explanatory. Written test as a source of quantitative data and the Metacognitive Activities Inventory (MAI-1) questionnaire as a source of qualitative data. The metacognition knowledge of students is on the criteria of "ok". The relationship with cognitive learning outcomes obtained from the product moment correlation test results, r = 0.983 and the correlation coefficient significance test, Fh = 4041,84. The conclusion, there is a relationship between metacognition knowledge on cognitive learning outcomes. Contributions to cognitive learning outcomes are very high, amounting to 96.63%. PBBL is effective in empowering and training metacognition knowledge in the learning process in the classroom.
