Abstract

Abstract ? Recent studies suggest that school well-being is an important predictor of students? achievement. One of the determinants of school well-being is social support. This study aims to examine the role of perceived social support toward school well-being among senior high school students. A total of 304 students (Mage = 16.27; SD = .815) participated in this study and were approached through accidental sampling. Results indicate that perceived social support plays a significant role in determining the school well-being of high school students. Of the five identified sources of social support, perceived support from teacher was known to have the biggest contribution towards high school students? school well-being, while perceived support from peer groups has the smallest role towards their school well-being. The study concludes by recommending high schools to consider providing and fulfilling students? social support as an effort to maintain their school well-being and to encourage their performance.

Abstract

Abstract ? Self-compassion is a healthy attitude toward oneself which positively associated to an individual?s mental health. Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) is a common instrument to measure levels of self-compassion However, to date, there is no study that evaluates the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of SCS. This study aims to adapt the SCS into Indonesian language and to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of SCS. Participants in this study were 329 college students enrolled in universities in Jakarta and surrounding areas and were recruited through convenience sampling. Instrument used in this research is the Indonesian version of SCS, which we named Skala Welas Diri (SWD). The result of psychometric evaluation using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), construct validity, and Cronbach?s Alpha coefficient showed good validity and reliability of SWD. The study suggested that SWD have a similar theoretical model as SCS. The study concludes that SWD could be used as an adequate measurement of self-compassion.

Abstract

Abstract ? This study aims to examine the effect of teachers? self-efficacy, their understanding of student characteristics (known as generation Z), and their understanding of the 21stcentury skills towards facilitator teaching style at Dian Harapan School Jakarta. This study used a quantitative approach with 60 respondents. Data was collected using questionnaire, which comprises the Teachers? Sense of Efficacy Scale, the characteristics of generation Z Students, West Virginia 21st Century Teaching and Learning Survey, and Teaching Style Survey. Data analysis and hypothesis testing were conducted through multiple linear regression analysis and the F Test. The results showed that teachers? self-efficacy, teachers? understanding of the generation Z students? characteristics, and their understanding of the 21st century skills contribute 60.7% on teachers? facilitator style of teaching. It was concluded that these three factors have an important role on teachers? facilitator style of teaching. Sense of Efficacy Scale, Karakteristik Generasi Z, West Virginia 21st Century Teaching and Learning Survey, dan Teaching Style Survey.
