Abstract

In the digital age, information overload occurs when individuals are overwhelmed by excessive and conflicting data, complicating decision-making. This overload leads to consumer confusion, making it hard to process available options and often resulting in purchasing avoidance. Studies show that consumer confusion mediates the relationship between information overload and purchasing avoidance, heightening anxiety and delaying decisions. While more information can sometimes help, it frequently causes confusion and fatigue, which ultimately hinders purchasing decisions. Our study used quantitative sampling with a purpose to collect and analyze data from 156 students of Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. After that, we used Structural Equation Modeling PLS data collected through questionnaires to test the model. Our findings show how effective consumer confusion can increase information overload and purchasing avoidance. Furthermore, business owners should focus on reducing consumer confusion to reduce the negative impact of information overload on purchasing decisions.

A quantitative approach, research was conducted in former Banyumas residency, including Banyumas, Banjarnegara, Purbalingga, and Cilacap involving a sample of 92 credit card users selected through purposive random sampling. Data analysis using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method. Findings reveal that hedonic motivation does not significantly influence impulsive buying behavior. Promotional programs exert a positive and significant impact on impulsive purchasing. Furthermore, both hedonic motivation and promotional programs were found to have a positive and significant effect on credit card usage. Credit card usage, in turn, demonstrates a positive and significant effect on impulsive buying. Credit card usage fully mediates the relationship between hedonic motivation and impulsive buying, and serves as a partial mediator in the relationship between promotional programs and impulsive buying.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Islamic Business Ethics on Consumer Loyalty in halal food Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with Consumer Trust serving as a mediating variable and Sustainability Awareness acting as a moderating variable. The study employs a quantitative research design using a survey method involving 290 consumers of halal food MSMEs in Indonesia. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS. The findings reveal that Islamic Business Ethics has a positive and significant effect on both Consumer Trust and Consumer Loyalty. Consumer Trust also significantly influences Consumer Loyalty and partially mediates the relationship between Islamic Business Ethics and Consumer Loyalty. Furthermore, the multi-group analysis demonstrates that Sustainability Awareness strengthens the positive effect of Islamic Business Ethics on Consumer Loyalty. Consumers with higher sustainability awareness exhibit stronger trust and loyalty responses toward halal MSMEs that implement ethical business practices. These findings highlight that ethical business conduct based on Islamic principles, including honesty, fairness, transparency, and responsibility, constitutes a strategic resource for building long-term customer relationships. The study contributes to the halal marketing and consumer behavior literature by integrating ethical, relational, and sustainability perspectives into a single framework. Practically, the results suggest that halal MSMEs should reinforce ethical values and sustainability initiatives to enhance consumer trust, loyalty, and long-term competitiveness.
