Abstract

The use of pesticides is widely used in the production of citrus fruits for protection before and after harvest. The use of pesticides on a broad scale can pollute the environment and leave residues in plants and in plants such as fruit leaves and tubers. A survey was conducted to evaluate the level of pesticide residues in citrus fruits. The survey method is carried out by recording pesticide use by farmers and traders. The survey will be conducted in Dau, Batu and Poncokusumo Districts, Malang Regency by interviewing 10 farmers and 10 orange traders in each District. The Gas Cromatography method was carried out to measure the levels of pesticide residues tested at the Angler Biochemlab Laboratory, Surabaya. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the levels of pesticide residues in citrus fruits then compared to the Maximum Residue Limit (BMR) through SNI 7313: 2008 quality standards on agricultural products. The residue levels of profenofos in farmer samples were found to be higher at 0.108 ppm compared to the sample from traders, namely 0.050 ppm at the Tegalweru village research site. In addition, traders in the village of Poncokusumo knew the imidaclroripid content was close to the maximum threshold of 0.040 ppm in farmer samples and 0.010 ppm in the merchant sample. Decreased levels of pesticide residues on food can be done with several approaches, namely physically and chemically. Reduction of pesticide residues in agricultural products can be done in several ways including by washing products with running water for several times or can also be done by soaking in water for one hour

Abstract

Nutrients or nutrients are important factors for plant growth which can be likened to food substances for plants. One of the factors that support plants to grow and produce optimally is the availability of nutrients in sufficient quantities in the soil. The elements N, P and K, have a very important role in plant growth and production. The purpose of the preparation of the paper is to provide information about efforts to improve efficiency and availability of nitrogen in the soil and nitrogen uptake in lowland rice plants (Oryza sativa L.) Nitrogen has a role as a constituent of enzymes which plays a large role in plant metabolism but is relatively not available to plants. The efficiency of the use of Nitrogen (N) fertilizer in lowland rice can be maximized by way of 1) timely fertilization, 2) planting superior varieties that are responsive to the administration of Nitrogen (N), 3) improving cultivation techniques, 4) regulating the timing of Nitrogen fertilizer (N ) the right during the growing season with Leaf Color Chart (LCC) or Leaf Color Chart (BWD) and 5) NPK fertilization simultaneously. Efforts to increase the availability of nitrogen in the soil and uptake in wetland rice can be done by adding high-quality organic matter, the use of Azotobacter isolates as biological fertilizers to reduce the decrease in soil health due to the input of synthetic chemicals.

Abstract

Sugar Cane Filter Cake (SGFC) is the sugar cane to sugar processing waste in Krebet Baru Sugar Factory. Utilization of this SGFC waste was limited for free soil or unprocessed fertilizer. Sugar cane filter cake is an organic waste which potential to be utilized into biogas. Biogas is anaerobic process product which consist methane as a major compound. Factors that influence biogas fermentation process were temperature, water content, fiber, total sugar and total concentration of methanogen bacteria inoculum. Natural source of methanogenic bacteria is in the contents of the cattle rumen. The aim of this study was to determine the characteristics of blotong and the effect of addition of cattle rumen on biogas fermentation from the SGFC of the Krebet Sugar Factory. The first stage of this research was Blotong characterization. The second stage was spontaneous fermentation with two treatment factors. The first factor was enhancing the contents of the cattle rumen (5%) and without the addition of cattle rumen (0%). The second factor is the fermentation time with 3 different levels (20, 25 and 30 days). The results were shown that blotong had water content, fiber content, and C / N ratio were 10.71%; 0.06%; and 17: , respectively. These results indicate the potential of the blotong as a raw material for biogas production. SGFC fermentation with the addition of 5% cattle rumen content was shown the best results compared to biogas production with pure SGFC. The highest volume and yield of biogas produced were obtained from the 30-day fermentation process with the results of 37,327 ml of gas and 746.5 x 10-6 m3/kg. All flame tests show positive results and are proven to produce blue flames.

Abstract

Body measurements are one of livestock selection criteria for breeds standardization. This research was carried out to select the best sire at BPTU-HPT Sapi Aceh Indrapuri through body measurements at 550 days of age. Records data of livestock from 2010-2013 were used in this study and consisted of chest girth (CG), withers height (WH) and body length (BL). The average of body measurements were 105.22+6.06 cm (CG), 88.42+4.37 cm (WH) and 83.03+4.74 cm (BL). The heritability (h2) estimation were ranged from medium (CG and WH) to high (BL) criteria. Higher of standard error (SE) than h2 values was indicated that the data in this study was less and the h2 values were not accurate. The cumulative breeding value (BV) of body measurements were reached from -3.69 (Sire: A.004) to +3.89 (Sire: P.0751). Ranking of sire based on BL were not accurate because of lower relative accuracy (RA) value than 1.00 in one of tested sires.

Abstract

Soil nutrient availability maps are needed to be used as a basis for managing fertilizer use, as well as soil acidity (pH) values. If the nutrient status of N, P, K and soil acidity is known, it is expected that the dosage of fertilization of each land can be done in accordance with thenutrient status. It can also reduce the cost of fertilization. This study aims to determine the factors of land affecting the distribution of nutrients N P K and soil pH. The research was conducted in Gugut Village, Rambipuji District, Jember from June to August 2016. The research was conducted by using free grid survey method with semi-detailed survey rate of 1: 25.000 scale. The distribution pattern of each nutrient status was analyzed by matrix method approach to find out the factors that most influence the distribution of nutrients N, P, K and pH.  From the result of research, map of nutrient distribution of N, P, K is almost similar to the result of geological map overlay, landform, land use and altitude. According to Wilding and Drees (1983), the diversity of nutrient status can be due to differences in lithology / parent material, climate, erosion, biological influences, and hydrology. The N, P, K soil availability map only meets 32.76% of the elevation map section. Therefore, the temporal nutrient status mapping can not be generated based on existing land map units so it is advisable to use the rigid grid method. While soil pH maps are almost similar to overlays between geological maps, landforms, land use and climate.
