Abstract

Tourism development promoted through Indonesia’s National Strategic Projects (Proyek Strategis Nasional, PSN) has long been regarded as a key engine for national economic growth. Yet, large-scale investment initiatives of this kind often bring complex social consequences, particularly for local communities whose land and livelihoods are directly affected. While much of the existing research has centred on the economic and infrastructural achievements of these projects, relatively little attention has been given to their human rights dimensions. This study seeks to address that gap by exploring how PSN investment in tourism affects human rights, with a specific focus on the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in West Nusa Tenggara. Using a qualitative approach, the research draws on an extensive review of literature, policy documents, reports, and media coverage. Thematic analysis was applied to identify recurring patterns and to interpret how the Mandalika SEZ reflects broader issues of justice, inclusion, and sustainability in Indonesia’s development agenda. The findings reveal that, under the name of PSN, the development of Mandalika SEZ has involved serious human rights concerns, including land dispossession, disruption of livelihoods, and intimidation during land acquisition processes. These findings illustrate the ongoing tension between rapid economic expansion and the protection of human rights. The study concludes that truly sustainable and inclusive tourism requires transparent land management, fair compensation, and continuous dialogue among all stakeholders to ensure that progress does not come at the expense of community rights.

Abstract

This research discusses the transformation of Ukraine's military strategy in the face of Russian domination through a case study of Operation Spider Web in 2025. This operation marks an important shift from conventional warfare to asymmetrical and hybrid warfare, where Ukraine successfully utilizes drone technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and network-based communication systems to penetrate Russian defenses that were previously considered unreachable. With a qualitative approach and literature study method, this study analyzes how the operation reflects the principles of the Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) which includes technological innovation, doctrinal adaptation, and restructuring of military organizations. The results of the study showed that Operation Spider Web not only succeeded in giving a tactical impact in the form of damage to 41 Russian aircraft, but also proving the effectiveness of the network-centric warfare concept in increasing the efficiency of communication, coordination, and decision-making in real-time. This transformation illustrates a fundamental change in modern warfare patterns, where strategic excellence, innovation, and flexibility become the main factors replacing the dominance of conventional military power.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the level of optimization of the implementation of Citizen-Center Services in Public Service Malls managed by the Sukabumi City Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office based on the perception of the public as service users. The research uses a quantitative descriptive method. Data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires to 100 respondents using incidental sampling techniques. The research instrument was compiled based on the dimensions of Carlson and Schwarz's service quality. Data analysis was carried out using a One Sample t-test with the help of the SPSS application. The results of the study show that the implementation of Citizen-Centric Services in the Sukabumi City Public Service Mall is in the optimal category. This is shown by an average value of 102.46 with a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05. The dimensions of convenience, justice, and security received the highest assessment from the community because services were considered more accessible, transparent, and non-discriminatory. However, the reliability dimension still needs to be improved, especially related to the timeliness of services and public understanding of digital services. This study concludes that the implementation of Citizen-Centric Services has contributed positively to improving the quality of public services in the Sukabumi City Public Service Mall. The findings are expected to be evaluated to improve the quality of community-oriented public services and as a reference for further studies related to the implementation of citizen-centered public services.

Abstract

This journal article analyzes the internalization of Australian border controls within Indonesia's immigration detention governance. The primary research focus is the active agency of domestic authorities, which has been largely overlooked in existing literature. Utilizing a qualitative method with a case study of Rudenim Tanjungpinang, a facility occupying a crucial migration corridor between both nations, this study uncovers the strategies of local actors exploiting external funding for national interests. The conceptual framework integrates border externalization, strategic non-regulation, and migrant rentierism to dissect data from journals, books, policy documents, and official reports. Findings demonstrate that through regulatory ambiguity, Indonesian officials successfully assert territorial sovereignty while extracting political and financial benefits from Australia. Consequently, Rudenim Tanjungpinang operates as a hybrid control apparatus, shifting external containment into domestic management. Beyond these mutual state benefits, asylum seekers endure the tragic consequence of being trapped in prolonged limbo. This inquiry underscores that transit states are proactive strategic agents within the global political economy of migration. Due to specific facility data limitations, the depth of analysis is carefully situated within broader national and bilateral migration patterns.

Abstract

Digitalization does not automatically expand political freedom in the public space. On the other hand, in various Southeast Asian countries, technological developments have gone hand in hand with increasing state control over citizen expression and the narrowing of civic space. This article analyzes the phenomenon of digital repression in this context through a socio-legal computational approach by utilizing V-Dem and Our World in Data data, as well as integrating the theoretical frameworks of Nancy Fraser and Donatella della Porta. The results of the quantitative analysis show that the decline in the liberal democracy index and freedom of expression correlate with increased civil vulnerability of women, particularly in private digital spaces that are increasingly legally supervised and controlled. Cyber law in this context not only serves as a regulatory instrument, but also as a form of legal weaponization that reinforces gender inequalities in access to security, social recognition, and political representation. On the other hand, social movements did not experience disappearance, but transformed into a more fluid and fragmented form of network-based digital activism under the pressure of digital authoritarianism.
