Abstract

The growing phenomenon of dynastic politics has sparked a debate in the public sphere, especially about the dynastic politics that President Jokowi is building. This research describes the perceptions of the people in Solo and Semarang regarding this phenomenon. The two cities were chosen because they have different levels of emotional closeness to President Jokowi. This research uses quantitative methods with a descriptive approach. The research sample consisted of 100 respondents in each city, selected using a multistage random sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire with a Likert scale to measure people's knowledge, feelings and evaluations. The research results show that people's understanding of dynastic politics is in the high category with a cognitive score rate of 81.38% in Solo and 80.97% in Semarang. The public's feelings and assessment of President Jokowi's dynasty policy is in the middle category with an affective score percentage of 64.39% in Solo and 60.90% in Semarang, as well as an evaluation score percentage of 59.29% in Solo and 52.66% in Semarang. These findings indicate that although the people of Solo City and Semarang City have a good understanding of the politics of President Jokowi's dynasty, they tend to have negative feelings and judgments. It is hoped that this research can contribute to enriching academic discourse and provide recommendations for public policy regarding regulations in minimizing the practice of dynastic politics in Indonesia.

Abstract

The East and Southeast Asian region confronts complex challenges in combating the illicit drug trade originating from the Golden Triangle, a long-established narcotics trade hub. In 2000, China and ASEAN countries cooperated through the ACCORD as a comprehensive framework of regional drug control. However, the increasing number of methamphetamine seizures and the rise of new psychoactive substances indicate persistent challenges in the power of ACCORD's drug control regime. Hence, this study aims to analyze the ASEAN- China cooperation framework, particularly in the context of regime power formation. The concept of the International Security Regime is utilized to understand the complexity of the regime by integrating four dimensions of power, namely productive, structural, institutional, and compulsory. Through a qualitative approach and secondary analysis, this study reveals complex dynamics that affect the effectiveness of regional cooperation from the existing literature.  First, productive power faces significant challenges due to intra-regional diversity, complex bilateral relations, and the declarative nature of ACCORD. Second, structural power is compromised due to power asymmetries and deep contestation. Third, institutional power suffers from significant weaknesses due to flawed institutional design. Fourth, compulsory power suffers because China's ability to exercise compulsion power directly, such as through sanctions or pressure, is limited within the multilateral framework of ACCORD. Therefore, cooperation needs to strengthen the network of normative discourse, political structures, and institutions, which affects the power drugs control regime. This paper successfully highlights the weaknesses in the power of the ASEAN-China-constructed international security regime.

Abstract

This study discusses the strategy to overcome the ideology of separatism in Indonesia through the integration of the principle of the Pacidetic Uti juris and the socio-economic approach. The threat of separatism, especially in Papua, remains a serious challenge for national integration. Development inequality, limited economic access, and marginalization narratives become a strong trigger for the growth of disintegration sentiment in the region. The principle of Uti is the posidetic of Juris, which confirms the validity of the boundaries since the decolonization period and provides an international legal basis to strengthen the claims of Indonesia's sovereignty over Papua. On the other hand, sustainable socio-economic policies are believed to be able to reduce the roots of separatism. This study uses mixed methods: qualitative data using NVivo 12 software and quantitative data using interpretive structural modeling (ISM). The results showed that the synergy between inclusive development strategies and the socialization of the principles of Uti Pacidetic Juris as international law could strengthen the sense of nationality and reduce the interest in separatist ideology, especially in Papua. The novelty of this study lies in the integrative approach between juridical and social aspects that have been rarely integrated. The limitations of this study lie in the extent of the scope of the area being analyzed. Further research is advised to explore the implementation of this strategy at the local community level in Papua to test its effectiveness in the long run as part of the national security strategy.
