Jurnal Pembelajaran Sains (Print ISSN: 2355-7044; Online ISSN: 2527-9157) provides a place for teachers, academics, lecturers, and students to share and discuss the results of their research in the field of science education. JPS publishes academic articles that focus on teaching and learning science from a range of basic education to higher education. This journal serves as a bridge between researchers and practitioners (teachers at every level of education) in sharing and providing information, ideas and opinions about the reality of education experienced by each. Science education which is included in the focus of JPS is not only limited to science education at the junior high school level. JPS also publishes academic articles related to the results of research in the fields of chemical education, physical education, and biological education for the level of basic education to higher education. JPS also does not close itself to publish academic articles related to the integration of science education with other disciplines, such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), geography, social education, and art. However, academic articles relating to research in the field of pure science and education in general (not related to science / Science education) will not be considered for publication by JPS. Academic articles in the field of science education published by JPS can be in the form of empirical research, such as the development / application of learning models and strategies, the development and innovation of teaching materials and learning media, and the development of learning evaluation instruments. Both the academic articles of experimental research and the results of classroom action research (CAR) are highly accepted for publication in JPS. All academic articles published by JPS must follow the applicable research rules and any data / research results can be justified by the author.

Abstract

Education is essential and a right for all Indonesian citizens. The quality of education is seen in student learning outcomes. Based on observations at SMP N 1 Talun, as many as 85.3% of students' cognitive learning outcomes still need to be completed, and learning activities after the COVID-19 pandemic have yet to carry out learning activities that can hone students' psychomotor abilities. The use of teaching materials is also only based on printed package books. Therefore, it is necessary to develop teaching materials to train students' cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes. Research & Development (R&D) research conducted using the 4D model. This study aims to determine the characteristics and validity of hypercontent e-modules with a STEM approach and the profile of students' cognitive learning outcomes and psychomotor learning outcomes after using e-modules. The average material and media validation results were 95.4% and 97.2%, which received very valid criteria. The cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes profile shows that 76% and 79% of students get a complete score. Based on these results, hypercontent e-modules with a STEM approach are declared very valid and can train students' cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze research trends regarding misconceptions in chemistry majors. This research containsan analytical study of the number of articles published in the last ten years, 2014-2024. This research was carried out by taking 17 SINTA-accredited articles from SINTA 2-5 and International Journal. This research method uses literature riview carried out through the identification and analysis of journals. We found National and International journals published in 2014-2024. The analysis step begins with reading the abstract and data reduction and drawing data conclusions based on the research instruments used. Research topics include the number of publications, type of research, chemical material studied, research subjects, and data analysis techniques. The primary research is qualitative, and the dominant material is acid-base material. Based on the results of this research, several recommendations can serve as guidelines for further research to produce research results that are more useful and have an impact on the lives of Indonesian people, especially in terms of teaching and learning.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the level of junior high school students' understanding of concepts related to vibration, waves, and light. The method used in this research is a mixed-methods approach, employing a sequential explanatory research design conducted at a state junior high school in Kamal sub-district. The population of this study includes all Grade VIII students during the odd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. A purposive sampling technique was used to select a sample of 30 students. Data were collected using tests and interviews. The data collection involved a two-tier diagnostic test to assess students' conceptual understanding. The indicators used in this concept understanding test include explaining, classifying, interpreting, exemplifying, and concluding. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that: (1) students' overall conceptual understanding is moderate, (2) the two-tier diagnostic test results showed that the highest score was on the interpreting indicator, with 29%, and the lowest was on the classifying indicator, with 8%, (3) the analysis of student responses revealed that question number 4 had the highest percentage of correct answers at 80%, while question number 2 had the lowest percentage at 20%.

Abstract

This article's goal is to present the goals of science education at the high school level that are incorporated with Islamic principles. The study identifies some of the learning objectives that are prioritized in the context of integrating science and Islam. Understanding scientific ideas within the context of Islam, developing moral and ethical principles, comprehending the connection between science and religion, and fortifying one's Islamic identity are the main objectives of education. The findings demonstrate that the integrated approach allows students to deepen their grasp of science and increase their awareness of Islam.

Abstract

This research analyzes students' conceptual understanding of substances and their changes using test answers as the leading indicator. Each question indicator is assessed and broken down based on the students' conceptual understanding percentage, with completeness set at an average score of ≥ 70. Of the 13 research subjects, almost all students reached the level of completeness, with a percentage of students completing at 87.7%, while students who have not yet reached completeness at 12.3%. This shows an excellent overall understanding of the concept. However, several students had difficulty understanding the difference based on the location of the particles, which may have been influenced by a lack of attention to the teacher's explanation. Understanding the concept of chemical and physical changes reached an average of 83%. Although most students could identify chemical changes, some were still confused and did not pay attention to the characteristics of chemical changes. Understanding the concept of physical changes also needs to be improved, with some students assuming that physical changes involve the formation of new substances. The understanding of the concept of mixture separation reached 90%, indicating that students can explain mixture separation experiments. Overall, SMPN 2 Socah seventh grade students showed.

Abstract

This research aims to reconstruct the original science of the Kepanjin community in Sumenep City regarding the process of making beddha'temmo into scientific science, as well as explaining science material related to the reconstruction of original science in the process of making beddha'temmo. This research uses qualitative research with an ethnoscience approach. Data was collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The research data obtained was then analyzed in several stages: reducing the data, presenting the data, and drawing conclusions/verification. Based on the results of scientific studies, the integration of beddha' temmo as one of Sumenep's local wisdom is related to junior high school science learning materials so that it can be used as a learning resource for students.
