Abstract

This article aims to describe the structures, functions, and context of appreciation for dinner (pasambahan makan) at marriage ceremony in Talang Babungo Hiliran Gumanti Solok regency. The data of this observation is expression of appreciation for dinner. The souces data of this observation are expression of appreciation for dinner at wedding party of Ronalvi dan Helmita Rahma Tullah. These data are collected by use of free listening copy out technigue, interview technigue, copy technigue and writing technigue as advanced technigue. The observation contents are expression of appreciation structure, opening speech, content and klosing. These are six funcition of expression of appreciation that is found. There are: religion function, custom function, moral function, education function, language function and social function. The expressions of appreciation have two context, there are situation context and context.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to (1) describe the kinds of words aquisition by childrens 5 years old at Bukik Batabuah, (2) describe the kinds of meanings aquisition by childrens 5 years old at Bukik Batabuah, (3) describe the words by semantic field which is aquisition by childrens 5 years old at Bukik Batabuah, and (4) describe the step of semantic aquisition chidren 5 years old at Bukik Batabuah. The data of this study were  speech acts the children 5 years old at Bukik Batabuah. Data were colected by  using observation method, interview technique, record technique, and note technique. The findings of this study showed that the children 5 years old at Bukik Batabuah (1) has aquisition 12 kinds of words, they are, verb, noun, adjektive, adverbial, pronominal, demonstrative, interogative, numeral, preposition, articula,  interjection, and fatic categorial, (2) has aqusition 9  kinds of means, they are leksical, grammatical, referencial, nonreferencial, denotative, conotative, figure, idiomatic, and word meaning, (3) aquisition the most word in the activity semantic field, and (4) childen were not in the generalisation step in semantic aquisition’s step, but they are going to that step.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe the form directive speech acts, politeness principles, and the context of the speech of children to parents in a Mandailing language. Data of this research is direct speech conversation between a child and his parents. The source of data in this research is children and their parents is a native of the area. Data collected using recording techniques and the observation sheet (observation) and written technique as advanced techniques, then transcribed and analyzed. The findings of the research include three aspects, namely (1) the form of directive speech acts used by children to their parents in a Mandailing language is telling, suggesting, to instruct, challenge, and pleading, (2) the principles of linguistic politeness that are used by children to their parents in a Mandailing language is a maxim of generosity, the agreement, wisdom, and praise, and (3) context of the speech acts in the use of maxims by children to their parents in a Mandailing language maxim generosity is likely to be used for the purpose of telling. Topic of speech act usually talk every day, going home in a quiet atmosphere. Maxim agreements tend to be used for the purpose of suggesting and asking. Topic of speech act generally every day speech, occurred at home, in a quiet courtyard. Maxim wisdom and praise tends to be used for the purpose suggested. Topic of speech act usually talk every day, going home in a quiet atmosphere.

Abstract

This article was write aimed to describe the category of folklore in Kenegerian Kari Kecamatan Kuantan Tengah Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi Province of Riau. The data of this study were category and social function of folklore in Kenegerian Kari Kecamatan Kuantan Tengah Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi Province of  Riau. The data of the research is analyzed through the stage of inventory, classified, study and inference, and the stage of report. The findings of the study showed that the category from 8 folklore in Kenegerian Kari Kecamatan Kuantan Tengah Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi Province of  Riau showed that, 1 myth, 1 fable, 6 legend and the social function of folklore in Kenegerian Kari showed that, (1) the function of developed the integrity of society through establishment the new myth by refused the old myth, (2) the function of social solidarity, and (3) the function of society identity.

Abstract

This article was written with the purpose of describing the structure, meaning and function of an expression of folk handicraft in Nagari Solok Ambah Sijunjung district. The data in this study is in the form of structure, meaning, and function expression of the people's trust. Based on the discussion can be concluded first, the structure of people's expression of confidence in a two-part and three-part Second, the meaning of an expression of the people is the true meaning of the expression of these beliefs to be conveyed through the expression of belief. Third, the function of an expression of the people for the people is a Nagari Solok Ambah as a thickener religious emotions or beliefs, as an educational tool or teenagers, as "explanation" that the folk of the received sense of natural phenomena that are very difficult to understand so it is very scary, and to entertain people who are affected by disasters.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the Minangkabau cultural values ​​that exist in the text of a speech Batagak Gala Penghulu work H. Hakimy Datuak Rajo Penghulu. The data of this study is the text of a speech-based Batagak Gala Penghulu spoken text by H. Hakimy Datuak Rajo Penghulu. The data source of this research is Penghulu handbook, Bundo Kanduang and Speech Alua Pasambahan Indigenous works in Minangkabau H. Hakimy Datuak Rajo Penghulu text to speech in which there is Batagak Gala Penghulu. Data collected by reading and translating texts from Minangkabau language into Indonesian language, reading, writing, analysis, and identification. The findings of the study revealed 18 cultural values ​​that Minangkabau culture, 6 data humility and respect for others, 3 data deliberation, 3 fidelity and accuracy of data, and 5 data compliance and adherence to tradition.

Abstract

The purposes of this studi were (1) to explain the ability of reading comprehension of students of class X 5 SMAN Padang, (2) to explain the ability to write discourse exposition of students of class X 5 SMAN Padang and (3) to analyze the relationship between ability to read understanding and the ability to write discourse exposition students. The methods used in this study is a method of correlation studies. Based on the results of research it was concluded the following points. First, the ability of reading comprehension of students of class X 5 SMAN Padang are on the qualifications is more than enough (68,9). Second, the ability to write an exposition on the qualifications of discourse of students of class X 5 SMAN Padang either (79,58). Third, there are a significant relation exists between ability to read the understanding with the ability to write discourse exposition of students of class X 5 SMAN Padang.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the following three things. First, it describes the critical reading skills class XI student of SMA Negeri 1 Kinali. Second, describe the writing skills of students of class XI argument SMA Negeri 1 Kinali. Third, analyze the relationship between students' critical reading skills with the ability to write a class XI student argumentation SMA Negeri 1 Kinali. Data collection was conducted through two tests, the objective tests and performance tests. Analyzing the data is done in accordance with the application of the concept of descriptive research korelasi.Berdasarkan data analysis concluded three things. First, critical reading skills class XI student of SMAN 1 Kinali are in good qualifying (80.28). Second, the ability to write arguments class XI student SMAN 1 Kinali are in good qualifying (79.72). Third, there is a significant relationship between critical reading skills with the ability to write a class XI student argumentation SMA Negeri 1 Kinali.

Abstract

Purpose of this article is (1) to describe the category of folklore in the Nagari Guguak Sarai, (2) describe the social function of folklore in Nagari Guguak Sarai. The data in this study is the category of folklore and social functioning in the Nagari Guguak Sarai. The data source of this study is the story Asal Mula Nama Nagari Guguak Sarai, Nyiak Bulek, dan Batang Aia Panggadih. Data collected by recording techniques, notes, and interviews. The findings of the study at the folklore category Nagari Guguak Sarai categorized into local legends and legends individuals. Social function folklore Nagari Guguak Sarai is the identity, traditions, inherited, and educate.

Abstract

The purpose of this study were to (1) describe type to act directive speeches, converse strategy, increase suavity in acts housewife directive speech fisherman to its child at Gates sub-district Nan XX Lubuk Bagaluang district Padang City,  (2) describe child response to act mother directive speeches it. Data in observational it is act housewife directive speech fisherman and its child response at Gates sub-district Nan XX Lubuk Bagaluang district Padang City. Data source in observational it is mother discourse and family child response fisherman at Gates sub-district Nan XX Lubuk Bagaluang district Padang City. Gathered data by use of method learns and recording and tech tech note as tech of sequel. Observational finding as follows. First, type acts tending directive speech is utilized is act directive speech see dammed hell first. Both of, tending converse strategy is utilized is frank converse strategy without platitude. Third, act mothers directive speech fisherman family to its child tend decent. Fourth, child response to act mother directive speech it tends positive.
