Abstract

This article aims to: (1) describe the pattern of a nickname based on the form used lingual Minangkabau ethnic communities shoreline South Coastal .; (2) describe the category nickname used by its reference Minangkabau ethnic communities shoreline South Coast; (3) describe the category nickname based on the sense used Minangkabau ethnic communities shoreline South Shore. Study the theory used in this research, among others; (1) The study of semantics; (2) Naming; (3) a nickname; (4) The connotative meanings; (5) understanding of proper names; (6) the Minangkabau language. This study found 152 nickname used by Minangkabau ethnic communities in the South Coast shoreline Pasisia. It can be concluded that in terms of form, found in two units lingual nickname: (1) the form of words and (2) are phrases, terms of reference unit forms lingual was formed on 9 reference / references a nickname in the form of (1) the physical condition , (2) behavior, (3) where / origin, (4) the name of the parents, (5) work, (6) status, (7) similarity, (8) mental condition, and (9) events, based on the value of taste found three grades flavors, namely (1) the value of the negative sense, (2) the value of a positive sense, and (3) value neutral flavor.Keywords: Naming, Minangkabau, tradition

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the image of the Muslim woman character in the novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, Assalamualaikum Beijing, and Jilbab in Love written by Asma Nadia. This was a qualitative research with descriptive method based on content analysis. Object of this study was novel  Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, Assalamualaikum Beijing, and Jilbab in Love written by Asma Nadia. Data analysis was done by (1) classifying the data associated with the image of the Muslim woman, (2) interpreting the data associated with the image of Muslim women, (3) analyzing and inventorying data associated with the image of Muslim women, (4) concluding the data. The findings of this research indicate that the image of the Muslim women in the novel  Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, Assalamualaikum Beijing, and Jilbab in Love written by Asma Nadia is women who are honest and keep his verbal, patient and sincere women, women who are fasting and keep her prayer, women who maintain honor and views, the women who remember Allah/God remembrance, and qanitaat.Keywords: image of woman, moeslimah, Asma Nadia, novel

Abstract

This article aims to: (a) presents a transliteration Kitab Fadhilah Syuhur Menerangkan Kelebihan Bulan Muharran and Kelebihan Hari Asyura arranged by Imam Maulana Abdul Manaf Amin Al-Khatib texts, and (b) serves over language Kitab Fadhilah Syuhur Menerangkan Kelebihan Bulan Muharran dan Kelebihan Hari Asyura arranged by Imam Maulana Abdul Manaf Amin Al-Khatib texts. The results of this study is to present a text that can be read and understood by the people now on the text of the Kitab Fadhilah Syuhur Menerangkan Kelebihan Bulan Muharram and Kelebihan Hari Asyura arranged by Imam Maulana Abdul Manaf Amin Al-Khatib. The results of this study also presents the text has been adapted to the Indonesian Spelling (EBI). This text recounts every good practices such as fasting, charity, and the other was in the month of Muharram and Ashura, the reward will be multiplied practice. In the manuscript Kitab Fadhilah Syuhur Menerangkan Kelebihan Bulan Muharran and Kelebihan Hari Asyura arranged by Imam Maulana Abdul Manaf Amin Al-Khatib text is a vocabulary that shows the variety of old Malay language in it. Abstract

This research is aimed to describe: (1) the structure of folklore legends Si Bajak Si Kelak Kulit in Simalegi Village, West Siberut, District Mentawai Islands; (2) the social function of folklore legends Si Bajak Si Kelak Kulit in Simalegi Village, West District of Siberut, Mentawai Islands. This sort of research is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. This research data is folklore legends Si Bajak Si Kelak Kulit in Simalegi Village, West District of Siberut, Mentawai Islands. These data was collected from informants through interview, observation, and interviews records by informants. The data were analyzed by the steps of: (1) a data inventory phase; (2) classification of data; (3) the stage of discussion or conclusion from data classification results; and (4) the stage of reporting. Based on the research, was found the following statements. (1) the structure of folklore legends Si Bajak Si Kelak Kulit in Simalegi Village, West District of Siberut, Mentawai Islands including: (a) a language style, (b) the viewpoint of the speaker (the informant), (c) character and characterization, (d) the storyline/plots of the folklore, (e) the background, (f) the theme, and (g) the moral of folklore; (2) social functions contained in folklore is to educate, entertain, also to strengthen the tradition, as the way to bequeath the tradition.Keywords: structure, social function, folklores

Abstract

This study was conducted to describe: (1) The difference in pronounce system and a vocabulary of Minangkabau in Northern Kambang sub- district,  Lengayang Distric,  of South Coastal Regency with General Minangkabau language. (2) the difference in the vocabulary of Minangkabau language in Northern Kambang sub-district,  Lengayang District,  of South Coastal Regency  with General Minangkabau language. The research is a qualitative study by using descriptive methods. Data were collected through a technical conversation with native speakers in North Kambang sub-district.  Analyzing data is carried out with the following steps. First, transcribe the informants’ speech that  have been recorded. Second, classifying the data of vocabulary differences in the pronounce system. Thirdly, concludes the different data based on the data that has been analyzed. Based on the results of the study, concluded the following. First, the differences in sound system of Minangkabau language in Northern Kambang sub-district, Lengayang District, South Coastal regency with the general Minangkabau language include: (1) the difference vocals consist of differences in vowel (a - u), (e - i), and ( i - a), (2) differences in the consonants made up the difference consonants (ø - h), (m - b), (n - ø), (ø - n), (η - ø), (η - n),  (n - ø), (n - n), (r - ø), (ø - r), (ʁ - h), (ʁ - r), (s - h), (w - ø), (w - r), and (y - ø), (3) the diphthong consists of the difference diphthongs (ɛ - ɛa), (u - ua), and (ur - ua), Second, the differences in Minangkabau’s vocabularies in Northern Kambang sub-district, Lengayang District,  South Coastal  regency with  the general Minangkabau language occur in: (a) verb, (b ) adjective, and (c) nouns.Keywords: phonology, sound system, vocabulary, minangkabau language

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to (1) describe the reading of heuristic and hermeneutic, (2) describe semantic indirection, (3) describe matrix, model, and variant, and (4) show hypogram from the poems of Dongeng Marsinah by Sapardi Djoko Damono. This is a qualitative descriptive study because the sources are from books and journals. The data are word, phrase, clause or sentences from the poems of Dongeng Marsinah by Sapardi Djoko Damono. The results are (1) the reading of heuristic and hermeneutic, (2) semantic indirection, (3) matrix, model, and variant, and (4) hypogram from the poems of Dongeng Marsinah by Sapardi Djoko Damono, which use the theory of Semiotic Riffaterre. Keywords: poem, Semiotics, Riffaterre

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the structure, category, and function of the public puzzle in Nagari Koto Aur Malintang III Eastern District of IV Koto Aur Malintang Padang Pariaman district. This study uses qualitative descriptive form. Sources of data in this research puzzle community in Nagari Koto Aur Malintang III Eastern District of IV Koto Aur Malintang Padang Pariaman district. Based on the research results, puzzles society in Nagari Koto Aur Malintang III East, we can conclude the following. First, the structure of the puzzle consists of elements (descriptive) and the picture element (referent)answers. Second, based on the nature of things depicted in question, the category of puzzle community in Nagari III Koto Aur Malintang East can be grouped into four, namely: (1) equality with man found 25 of the 60 puzzle, (2) equality with animals found 8 of 60 puzzles, (3) the equation with the found objects 13 of 60 puzzles, and (4) equations with plants found 14 of the 60 puzzles. Third, Puzzle has three functions, namely the function to deliver education, training functions of the intellect, and function as entertainment.Keywords: Structure, category, and function

Abstract

This article was written to describe (1) the type of speech act illocutionary in caricature Tan Baro on Daily newspaper Singgalang, (2) types of strategies are spoken caricature Tan Baro on Daily newspaper Singgalang, and (3) the context of the use of strategies recalled in caricature Tan Baro on Daily newspaper Singgalang. This research data is a caricature figure of speech that number Tan Baro 75 utterances of 24 caricature used source of research data are Singgalang Daily newspaper published on Sunday. Data retrieved by collecting all the utterances in caricature Tan Baro on Singgalang Daily newspaper. Analyzing data this studi by transcribing the data, identify, classify, and concludes the description of the data by type of illocutionary speech act, type of strategy speak, and context of use strategies narrate. The research findings are, (1) the type of speech act illocutionary the most widely used is the speech act is representative, (2) type of strategy speak the most widely used is bald on record with the preamble of politeness, and (3) context of use strategy tells consists of, (a) in the context of the speaker acts said to those who more older or higher status and are already familiar tends to use the strategy speak frankly with strings attached politeness positive, (b) in the context of the speaker acts said to the younger people and already familiar tends to use the bald on record strategy. Keywords: speech act, illocutionary, caricature, Tan Baro, newspaper, Singgalang Daily.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the representation of rural communities are depicted in Bekisar Merah novel by Ahmad Tohari. This research is a qualitative, descriptive method that aims to create a description, picture, or painting in a systematic, factual, and accurate information on the facts, nature and the relationship between the phenomenon investigated, so saw the quality or the quality of the object under study , Results of the study found that the novel Bekisar Merah by Ahmad Tohari discusses the representation of rural communities, which can be described in six indicators, namely: (1) Process and social interaction in the countryside illustrate the friendliness between people, and solving problems together, (2 ) social stratification in rural areas based on soil and have a backup business ownership development. (3) the family and kinship systems rural communities have a sense of togetherness more closely and they consider the neighbors are family, (4) social change, (5) social organizations at the village bring a positive influence, helpful and is an inevitable requirement, (6) culture (norms and values) still held firm.Keywords: rural communities, representation, novel

Abstract

This article aims to describe the structure and function of rhyme society in East Painan Nagari, District IV Jurai, South Coastal District. Study the theory used in this research, among others; (1) understanding of folklore, (2) the folklore and oral literature, (3) the nature of the poem Minangkabau, (4) the kinds of quatrain Minangkabau, (5) the characteristics of the poem, (6) the structure of the poem, (7) the function of rhyme Minangkabau , Pantun Nagari community in East Painan has a physical structure and inner structure. The physical structure consists of: (1) use of diction, (2) using images, (3) use concrete words, (4) using figurative language, (5) using rhyme a, i, u, e, o, h, m, n, ng, and k and Ritma said. Inner structure consists of: (1) theme, (2) feeling, (3) the tone and atmosphere, (4)  mandate. Function of rhyme society in east Painan Nagari, District IV Jurai, South Coastal Dict consists of: (1) as a means of communication, (2) as an identity Minangkabau society, (3) as flowers decorate tradition of Minangkabau society, (4) as a means to preach, (5) as a means to educate, (6) as the embodiment of traditional, (7) as symbols of Minangkabau culture, (8) to excite and motivate the heroic values of Minangkabau society, (9) to humanize humans. Keywords: Pantun, structure and function, oral tradition
