Abstract

Mericlone shoots are shoots of propagation using meristem explants which aim to produce seeds in a short time, large number, and disease-free seed. The aim of this experiment was to find out the best types and concentration of cytokinin to mericlone shoot multiplication of potato Jala Ipam variety. The experiment was carried out at Seed Technology Tissue Culture Laboratory of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University during November 2016 until February 2017. The experimental design was Completely Randomized Design with 13 treatments and 4 replications. Murashige and Skoog Medium with different concentration and types of cytokinine was used in this experiment. The result showed that the type and concentrations of cytokinin give the different effect on the mericlone shoot multiplication of potato Jala Ipam variety. MS medium with the additional of cytokinin 2 -iP 1.5 mg L-1 significantly increased the mericlone shoot multiplication of potato Jala Ipam variety at the variable number of leaves, number of nodes, and the number of branches.

Abstract

Characteristics of mineral-mine tailings deposited in agricultural areas do not meet the requirements for food crop cultivation. The objective of the experiment was to obtain the information on the improvement of plant growth planted in mercury-contaminated tailings after adding organic matter and nitrogen fixing bacteria, Azotobacter. The greenhouse trial was set up in randomized factorial design which tested the Azotobacter inoculation consentrations and organic matter doses. There was no interaction effect between the two treatments on the growth of four-week old corn. Both organic matter and Azotobacter had a positive impact on vegetative growth of corn.

Abstract

Brown Planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stal.) is a main pest of paddy. The purpose of this research is to study the population of Brown Planthopper and the natural enemy. The method of this research using survey. Survey was conducted in three experimental plots at JatisariSubdistrict, Karawang District, West Javaand in the greenhouse of the Department of Plant Pests and Deseases, Faculty of Agriculture,  Universitas Padjadjaran. The sample were collected by systematically diagonal using yellow stiky trap and manually or visual counting. The result showed population fluctuation BPH below the economy line where is temperature, humidity and rainfall did not significantly effect to the BPH population. It was indicated by the regression analysis of each temperature Y= (- 24.225 + 1.008 X1 ; R2 =0,020; P/Sign = 0.660),  Humidity  (Y=- 32.337 + 0.424 X2; R2  = 0,124; P/ Sign  = 0.261) and Rainfall (Y=1.707 + 0.090 X3 ; R2  = 0.050; P/ Sign = 0.487). There is a relation between temperature, humidity and rainfall to BPH (Y = - 123 + 2.685 T + 0.649 RH - 0.14 CH; R2 = 0.236; P/ Sign = 0.516) dit not significantly because as the value of significance (P = Sign)  > 0.05.8. The diversity index was moderate 1.88

Abstract

Damage to plants by pathogenic fungi is often found in nurseries and field. Biological control offers a promising alternative for managing diseases in plants because they are environmentally friendly compared to pesticides. The aim of the study was to test the power of the antagonism of Trichoderma harzianum and Azotobacter chroococcum on solid organic media "TRIAZOTE"  which had been stored for five months against R. solani, S. rolfsii, and F. oxysporium pathogens. In-vitro treatment tested the power of antagonism of T. harzianum and A. chroococcum on growth of R. solani, S. rolfsii, and F. Oxysporum pathogens. The results showed that T. harzianum in "TRIAZOTE" which had been stored for five months could inhibit pathogenic growth R. solani, S. rolfsii, and F. oxysporum by 54.57%, 66.22%, and 68,57% respectively. While A. chroococcum did not significantly inhibit pathogenic growth of R. solani (11.02%), S. rolfsii (9.09%) and F. oxyprorum (10.99%). To control the disease in plants, especially those caused by soil borne pathogens R. solani, S. rolfsii and F. oxyprorum, can use biological fertilizer "TRIAZOTE" even though it has been stored for five months

Abstract

The research was aimed to know the effect of dose of organic fertilizer to growth and yield varieties of mustard (Brassica juncea L.). The method used was a randomized block design a Randomized Completely Block Design with 2 factors. The first factor was the organic fertilizer, namely (P) and the second factor was the variety. The first factors was the organic vermicompost, which consists of 4 levels, namely: P0 = 0 g / plant, P1 = 30 g / plant, P2 = 60 g / plant, P3 = 90 g / plant the second factor was varieties, which consists of three levels, namely: V1 = Tosakan varieties, V2 = Kumala varieties, V3 = Sri Tanjung varieties. Thus there was 12 combinations of treatment, each treatment was repeated three times, in order to get 36 experimental unit. Parameters measured were plant height, number of leaves, plant fresh weight, plant dry weight, root dry weight. The results of this research showed that vermicompost fertilizer showed significant effect on the observation parameters plant height, root length, fresh weight of plant, plant dry weight, root dry weight. Vermicompost fertilizer dose of 60 g / plant give the best average results in almost all variables observation (plant height 18,6 g, fresh weight of plant 10,3 g, plant dry weight 1,3 g and root dry weight 0,4 g. Kumala varieties gave the highest rates in the observation parameters number of leaves 7,2 sheet and fresh weight of plant 10,0 g. The interaction of both treatment showed no real effect on all parameters of observation.
