Abstract

This study aims to determine the water quality, to identify the level of contamination of heavy metals Pb, Cd, Cu and Fe in the Wai Yori watershed due to the pollution from leachate from the Waste Landfill Ambon City, as well as to advise the managers of Waste Landfill and Municipal Government of Ambon. The study used survey method by sampling water and soil for analysis of heavy metals Pb, Cd, Cu and Fe. The sampling was intended to determine the levels of heavy metal pollution that contaminate the Wai Yori watershed. Water samples were analyzed in the laboratory of Research and Industrial Standard Institution Ambon, Jl. Kebun Cengkeh, the city of Ambon, while the soil samples were analyzed at the Forensic Laboratory Faculty of Science Halu Oleo University, Southeast Sulawesi. The results of this research showed that the amount of heavy metals contained in the sample and then was compared with the critical limit standard level. For heavy metal analysis results of water samples was compared to the critical limit of water according to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010. The results of the analysis of water samples were compared to the standard range of heavy metals as contaminants in the soil according to the Ministry of State for Population and Environment of Indonesia, and Dalhousie University, Canada (1992). The Pb content was as much as 0.01 ppm, Cd as much as 0.0003 ppm, 2 ppm Cu and 0.3 ppm Fe, and all samples contained metals below the standard values.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the appropriate dose and application interval of BMW liquid organic fertilizer (POC) to support the growth and yield of vegetative mustard (Brassica juncea L.). This research was conducted in Wailete Village, Hatiwe Besar, Teluk Ambon, Ambon, Maluku Province, from March to April 2016. This research used a Randomized Factorial experimental design with two factors. Factor I was BMW fertilizer dose with 4 levels (P), consisting of: P0 (control), P1 (2.5 mL per liter of water), P2 (5 mL per liter of water) and P3 (7.5 mL per liter of water ). Factor II was interval of spraying (A) consisting of: A1 (6 days), A2 (8 days) and A3 (10 days). There were 12 treatment combinations with three replications, therefore the were 36 experimental plots. Each plot consisted of 28 plants, so that overall there were 1,008 plants. Four plant samples were taken per plot, so that overall there were 114 plant samples. The research results showed that the dose of BMW POC liquid organc fertilizer gave very significant effects on leaf number, leaf area, fresh weight, dry weight and a significant effect on yield per plot. The P3 treatment (7.5 ml per liter of water) gave the best results compared to P0 treatment (without BMW POC). For application interval, it is shown that (the inverval of 6 days) caused a significantly different leaf number of mustard at age 2 weeks after planting, but gave no significant effect on other observation variables. Similarly, the interaction between the dose and application interval of BMW POC did not significantly affect all observation variables.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the right type of organic mulch on the growth and production of mustard plants that included plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, shoot fresh weight root fresh weight, shoot dry weight and root dry weight. A completely randomized design was applied in the experiment using organic mulch as a treatment consisting of control, alang-alang leaves, gamal leaves and lamtoro leaves. The results showed that treatment without mulch (control) gave the highest values on all parameters and the lowest was in the treatment of gamal leaves mulch. Mulch of lamtoro leaves indicated the highest fresh weight of shoot compared to the use of alang-alang leaves and gamal leaves.

Abstract

The research was conducted in Rutong Village, Ambon City in order to determine the composition of weeds and weeds as well as weeds predominant in the nutmeg crop yield and immature. Field data collection was done by using a survey method. The results showed the number of weeds in immature stages are found 21 species of weeds, while on the stage of the producing plant 22 types of weeds found. In stage producing plant, the dominant weed species was Selaginella willdenowii Backer with SDR 42.41%. On the immature stage, the dominant weed species were weeds Selaginella willdenowii Backer with SDR 34.38%. While the dominant weed was an annual broadleaf weed.

Abstract

This research was made in July to September 2016 in Plant Disease Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Pattimura University, Ambon. This research was made with purpose to get the best compost as a carrier of Trichoderma harzianum. The research method was experiment method using completely randomized program (RAL) using two factors, i.e three treatments with three repetitions, therefore 27 unit specimen were found. Based on observation in the laboratory, the result were: 1) a growth and best dense of T. harzianum spore in compost was in 10 % dose; 2) Compost produced by Farmers’ group Sumber Wiji Kairatu was the best for T. harzianum with pH grade of 7.5; and 3) Best compost formulation as a carrier for control agent T. harzianum was produced by Farmers’ group Sumber Wiji Kairatu with 10 % dose.

Abstract

Assessment of chemical properties for 6 soil samples for its fertility in the study area was as follows: Soil pH ranged from acid to slightly acid (5.0-6.0), C-organic low to very high (0.64-7.9%), N-total very low to low (0.09-0.25%), P-available (Bray I) very low to low (0.0-12.4 ppm), very low to moderate Ca (0.0-8.9 me/100 g), very low to high Mg (0.2-4.9 me/100 g), very low to moderate K (0.0-0.3 me/100 g), very low to low Na (0.0-0.1 me/100 g), low CEC (2.7-13.7 me/100 g), very low to very high base saturation BS (5.6-78.9%). The soil fertility status at the study sites only used CEC parameters (cmol/kg), BS (%), organic matter (%) and P2O5 ppm. Soil fertility status in the study area ranged from very low (SR), low (R), to moderate (S). Based on the assessment of the land suitability class on the four plantations of coconut, cocoa, cloves and nutmeg, it can be seen that the plantation commodity group which was considered to have the S3 land suitability class (as marginal) is 4.146 Ha or 86.7%, and N (not suitable) accordingly was an area of 636 Ha or 13.3%. With soil physical limiting factors: Rooting medium (rc): Soil depth, - Danger of erosion (eh): Slope. Limiting Factor of Agroclimatology/climate (wa): Rainfall, Nutrient Availability (na): N, P, K.

Abstract

Soil degradation on shrubbery is higher than the mixed planting with indicators of soil degradation are pedestal, root plant exposure, rill and gully. Individually, the extent of land use, the density of upper vegetation and the density of lower vegetation have significant effects on the soil degradation at mixed plantation and shrub. Simultaneously, the extent area of land use, the density of upper vegetation and the density of lower vegetation have significant effect on the soil degradation at mixed plantation and shrubbery. The factors that have the greatest effect on the soil degradation at mixed plantation are the extent area of land use and density of lower vegetation, meanwhile those factors in the shrubbery are the density of upper and lower vegetation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine bokashi leaves krinyu doses needed to support the growth and mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.) production. This study using the design of random group with the treatment consisting of: without the treatment, dose bokashi leaves krinyu 5 ton/ha, dose bokashi leaves krinyu 10 ton/ha, bokashi leaves krinyu 15 ton/ha, dose bokashi leaves krinyu 20 ton/ha. The results of study show that dose bokashi leaves krinyu 20 ton/ha give results of the highest in all parameters observations namely high plants 29,39 cm, number of leaves 9,63 sheet, broad leaves 72,51 cm2, weight of the root 5,81 g and weight of fresh per plants 193,33 g.
