The purposes of this study were to (1) describe the shape of carving design in Masjid Asasi Kota Padang Panjang, (2) to describe the meaning of carving design in Masjid Asasi Kota Padang Panjang. The type of this research uses qualitative research in which specifically attributed to descriptive. The data of the research comes from the carving design in Masjid Asasi. The source of the research is given by an informan who does comprehend about Minangkabau carving and Masjid Asasi. The data is assembled through observation, interview and documentation. The research finds that there are 15 shapes of the carving design in Masjid Asasi Kota Padang Panjang. Based on the research, it can be concluded that the carving design in Masjid Asasi comes from nature consist of animal, plan, and geometry. The meaning of the carving design in Masjid Asasi is as a model value and prohibition which is engraved in the Masjid’s wall for hundred years.Kata kunci: motif ukiran,bentuk, makna, Masjid.

The purpose of this study is to describe the development of shape, motif, and function of songket’s product in Melayu Pekanbaru Riau. The method of this reseach is qualitative with descriptive approach. The result shows that the product of traditional Malay’s songket expand from clothes only to other house wear. The forms of the product are derived from the pattern of flora (55 motifs), fauna (14 motifs), and nature (11 motifs). The physical function of songket’s product in Melayu Pekanbaru Riau develops in terms of function from life function which develop to various types of Malay songket’s product.Keywords: Product’s shape, Motif, Function, Songket’s product in Melayu Pekanbaru Riau

In minangkabau mangosteen is tightly by philosophy of tradition that is as a symbol of leader honesty. The purpose of this finally project if to visualitation mongosteen as symbol of leader honesty in art graphic. Live side that raised is unbalanced the honesty in the leadership.Creating process of this finally project is using method cerigraphy by broken cliche type. Every picture that created is connected each other bicause of the same theme, idea and concept. After through a long prosess the creator is making a finally project by the tittle: 1) Terlalu berat, 2) Terikat, 3) Politik, 4) Berbeda 5) Diujung senja 6) Billiard, 7) Tak terbawa, 8) Bimbang, 9) Tak berarti, 10) Meleleh. By creating grapics art is hopefully to the member of art development in order to increase the spirit in artwork and also can be reference to make a graphic art be better in future.Key: mangosteen, graphic art, cerigraphy.

This research is to describe the kind, technical, and Function of Illustration Picture on Padang Ekspres. The method uded is a qualitative researcg with descriptive approach. The type of data that used are primary data and secondary data with the sources of primary data obtained from visual data on photo illustration padang Ekspres News Paper, while the secondary data obtained from direct narrative informant, the illustration and chief editor of Padang Ekspres. The results of the study found that the type of illustration used in the Padang Express Newspaper is Caricature, Cartoon, and Vector. Paper-making techniques in Padang Express Newspaper is using a mix of manual and computer techniques. The function of an illustration in the Padang Express Newspaper is to clarify the meaning of the story as well as a discourse also the attractiveness and beauty of its own in the newspaper.Kata kunci: Studi, Gambar, Ilustrasi, Jenis, Teknik, Fungsi, Padang Ekspres

The study aims to (1) describe the forms of the resulting ceramic craft in studio Kachio, (2) Describe the technique of forming a ceramic craft in studio Kachio, (3) Describe the process of burning the ceramic craft which is made in studio Kachio. The method is a qualitative research with descriptive approach. The data used are primary, secondary, and collected data literature study through observation, interviews, and documentation. The study found the form of ceramics produced in studio Kachio is basically a three-dimensional works with a unique shape. All products have its own characteristics in his work. Manufacture of ceramic works in Galogandang, using the turntable media. The technique used is coil, by rolling up the clay, worm-shaped, then arrange them neatly to a ceramic form, then flattened. The combustion process in studio Kachio, use a furnace that can be used at any time either to burn in large quantities or units, they are tools and materials such as drums, bricks, straw and chaff.Keywords: Kriya ceramics, shape, mechanical, process

Butterfly has special attraction. It has beautiful shape wings, color pattern and also it has interesting body movement. Characteristics of these butterflies can be used as guidance in revealing the inner situation a bout the issue of life. This thesis used a combination of several techniques Rata, Klim, Soumak, and Giordes, coil and embroidery tapestry techniques. By combining several techniques, it can show a new creation. Visual elements and principles of art concerned in the realization of the creation in order to be looks interesting. Most people have impression that children with special-need (ABK) cannot perform activities like other normal children. The purpose of this research is to visualize self-figure of children with hearing-disability by serigraphy, where those works are expression of researcher based on self-experience of researcher previously. The processes of these works were performed by filter printing media (serigraphy). The works including: 1) me, 2) feeling1, 3) feeling2, 4) frustration1, 5) frustration2, 6) my heart is listening, 7) I want them to understand, 8) love sign, 9) friend protection, 10) my family. These works proved that children with special-needs have the same feelings with normal children.Keywords : self-figure, serigraphy, graphic.

Psychiatric symptom is not considered a dangerous disease for the environment. Psychiatric symptom is a disease that begins with a sense of high levels of stress because the patients are not open about their problems or depression that they cannot solve by themselves to the people or environment around them. Psychiatric symptoms suffered negative element values resulting from environmental factors and family factors that could occur by the lack of attention. The creation of this final work aims to visualize the life of the fishermen of West Sumatra in the works of graphic art. Part of life that the author wants to interpretedis about the poverty of fishermen. The technique used is relief print with the type of linoleum cut. Relief Print is a technique in which the surface lines or fields to be printed is higher than the surface of the cliché. Higher surface that receives the ink and then applied to the paper . Through relief technique with the type of linoleum cut print, the author produced ten graphic artwork with the title : Mengais Rezeki, Terbiasa, Tak Dihiraukan, Waktu Senggang, 1:10, Para Penakhluk, Tua, Maelo Pukek, Pulang Malang, and Harapan. Each work interconection each other and have a similar theme, ideas and concepts.keywords: Fishermen, High Print Technique (relief print), linoleum cut.
