Abstract

This study examines English teachers’ perspectives on the integration of deep learning-oriented instruction in Indonesian English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. Drawing on a qualitative research design, the study involved three senior high school English teachers from a public school in North Aceh, Indonesia. The findings indicate that teachers conceptualize deep learning as an approach that emphasizes critical thinking, inquiry, collaboration, problem-solving, and reflective learning rather than surface-level knowledge acquisition. In classroom practice, deep learning was enacted through inquiry-based activities, problem-based tasks, collaborative learning, and reflective practices that encouraged meaningful language use and student engagement. Teachers perceived deep learning as beneficial for enhancing learner autonomy, communicative competence, and higher-order thinking skills. However, several challenges were identified, including limited instructional time, heterogeneous student proficiency, and resource constraints. To address these challenges, teachers adopted adaptive strategies such as scaffolding, differentiated instruction, and flexible task design.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of biblical verses on tax compliance among Catholic taxpayers. A qualitative approach was employed using primary data collected through in-depth interviews with priests and friars as key informants, as well as parish members and church staff in Tulungagung. The findings indicate that biblical verses understood by Catholic believers contain two domains of obligation, namely obligations to God and to the state, which serve as moral foundations in interpreting tax compliance. Although the Gospel verses have diverse narrative contexts, their core teachings on obligation remain consistent. Awareness of tax compliance is not solely derived from religious understanding but is also strengthened by individual willingness and internal motivation. From the perspective of the Theory of Planned Behavior, biblical verses contribute to shaping attitudes and strengthening intentions to comply. The novelty of this study lies in its qualitative examination of tax compliance among Catholic taxpayers based on biblical values.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze and critique the Third Pentecostal Movement based on the Reformed theological concepts of continuity and discontinuity of the work of the Holy Spirit. This research was conducted using narrative analysis as an approach to discover and analyze the assumptions behind the narratives presented by supporters of the Third Pentecostal Movement. Through this approach, this research found that there is no continuity between the Third Pentecost and the true Pentecost in the Book of Acts, and even the nature of the Third Pentecost contradicts the nature of the true Pentecost, because this movement ignores objective efforts in the form of strict exegesis of the Bible to understand Pentecost and the various accompanying phenomena. The hope for true spiritual revival must always be accompanied by objective efforts in the form of strict biblical exegesis, which is reflected in apostolic preaching and rigorous doctrinal teaching. Because apostolic preaching and strict doctrinal teaching are the means of grace used by the Holy Spirit to protect the church from the spirit of revivalism and to produce genuine revival.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the formation of social and spiritual values among Generation Z children through the practice of Children’s Holy Communion at Gereja Kristen Jawa (GKJ) Dagen Palur Karanganyar as a contextual model of faith education. This research employs a qualitative approach. The findings reveal that Children’s Holy Communion plays a significant role in shaping both social and spiritual values. Socially, children demonstrate increased empathy, patience, care for others, discipline, responsibility, and a sense of belonging within family and church communities. Spiritually, they experience a deeper understanding of faith, greater appreciation of the symbolic meaning of bread and wine, and a growing awareness of their identity as members of the body of Christ. The formation of these values occurs through a continuous process that includes pre-communion instruction, active participation in worship, and post-communion involvement in church life. These findings indicate that Children’s Holy Communion functions not merely as a liturgical ritual, but as a holistic means of faith formation that integrates cognitive, affective, social, and spiritual dimensions of Generation Z children.

Abstract

Islamic education in the Society 5.0 era integrates high technology into social life, but many Islamic educational institutions still use a teacher-centered approach. This study aims to explore the use of interactive digital media in teaching Islamic education at Madinatul Quran Middle School and Nurul Masyitoh Islamic Middle School in Lumajang. The method used is qualitative with an ethnographic approach, which includes classroom observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The results show that the use of interactive digital media can create a dynamic learning environment, increase student participation, and encourage them to ask questions and develop understanding independently. This study provides a theoretical contribution to the development of competencies of Islamic educational institutions in the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of non-digital gamification in strengthening students’ Islamic religious character. The research employed a qualitative approach. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of classroom activities. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that non-digital classroom activity-based gamification integrated with Islamic values can increase students’ learning engagement and strengthen Islamic religious character, particularly in honesty (sidiq), responsibility (amanah), discipline (nidhom), learning motivation, and social cooperation (ta’awun). Teachers play a key role as facilitators by linking game-based activities with the habituation of religious attitudes during the learning process. Therefore, non-digital gamification can serve as a relevant learning innovation for strengthening Islamic religious character in non-formal education settings.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the process and results of character education for 4th-grade students at PKBM PNF KBRI Kuala Lumpur thru an educational and habit-based approach. Using a case study design. The research results indicate progressive behavioral development in most students, particularly in greeting and showing respect, bowing when passing teachers, sitting neatly, and walking politely. The changes were not uniform, but the majority of students showed consistent improvement from the first to the third week. Daily guidance in routine forums has proven effective because it optimizes the teacher's role as a moral figure, emotional support, and strengthener of the microsystem environment within the updated Bronfenbrenner bioecological framework, where direct interaction, relationship dynamics, and the influence of technology that accompanies daily life become an integral part of the developmental process. This research confirms that structured, repetitive, and example-based character development can help migrant children build moral and social stability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies used by Islamic Education teachers to improve student discipline in worship through the habit of performing the dhuha prayer at the PKBM PNF KBRI Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed interactively to produce research findings. The results showed that the strategies applied by teachers through exemplary behavior, continuous guidance and supervision, religious motivation, and the integration of the dhuha prayer into the school's daily schedule were effective in shaping students' worship discipline. This discipline is reflected in the increased punctuality, regularity, and consistency of students in performing the dhuha prayer as a conscious habit. These findings confirm that the habit of performing the dhuha prayer, which is managed systematically and contextually by Islamic Education teachers, plays an important role in fostering students' worship discipline in non-formal educational institutions.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a multicultural nation, has diversity that includes religious, ethnic, cultural, racial, and gender diversity, as well as socio-political dynamics. This plurality is a social asset, but it also has the potential to cause conflict if it is not managed through an inclusive and tolerant attitude. This article aims to analyze the transformation of the attitudes of a diverse society through Christian Religious Education in the context of Indonesian education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method through a critical analysis of literature on multicultural education, recognition politics, inclusive religious education, and national education regulations. The results of the study show that Christian Religious Education plays a strategic role in shaping the character of students so that they are able to live peacefully side by side in a pluralistic society. However, diversity education still tends to be limited to religious and ethnic aspects, while other dimensions such as cultural recognition, gender equality, democracy, and social justice have not been comprehensively integrated. Therefore, Christian Religious Education needs to be developed through a broader and more dialogical multicultural approach.

Abstract

This study explores the potential of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as a framework for transforming Islamic education by promoting inclusivity and equity. Using a qualitative research approach with a multiple case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis in selected Islamic educational institutions. The findings indicate that the implementation of UDL principles significantly enhances student engagement, accessibility to learning materials, motivation, and participation. Moreover, UDL aligns with core Islamic educational values such as justice (‘adl), compassion (rahmah), and respect for learners’ dignity. This study concludes that integrating UDL into Islamic education curricula is a strategic approach to fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments and contributes to ongoing discussions on inclusive educational reform within religious education contexts.
