Abstract

Semantic domain ontologies are increasingly seen as the key for enabling interoperability across heterogeneous systems and sensor-based applications. The ontologies deployed in these systems and applications are developed by restricted groups of domain experts and not by semantic web experts. Lately, folksonomies are increasingly exploited in developing ontologies. The “collective intelligence”, which emerge from collaborative tagging can be seen as an alternative for the current effort at semantic web ontologies. However, the uncontrolled nature of social tagging systems leads to many kinds of noisy annotations, such as misspellings, imprecision and ambiguity. Thus, the construction of formal ontologies from social tagging data remains a real challenge. Most of researches have focused on how to discover relatedness between tags rather than producing ontologies, much less domain ontologies. This paper proposed an algorithm that utilises tags in social tagging systems to automatically generate up-to-date specific-domain ontologies. The evaluation of the algorithm, using a dataset extracted from BibSonomy, demonstrated that the algorithm could effectively learn a domain terminology, and identify more meaningful semantic information for the domain terminology. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm introduced a simple and effective method for disambiguating tags.Semantic domain ontologies are increasingly seen as the key for enabling interoperability across heterogeneous systems and sensor-based applications. Abstract

Noting the problem of increasing airports congestion, it is crucial to obtain a practical and efficient scheduling for departure and landing. The problem of deciding how to land an aircraft on the airport involves assigning each aircraft to an appropriate runway, computing a landing sequence for each runway and scheduling the landing time for each aircraft. The objective was to achieve effective runway use. In this paper, a multiple runway case of the static Aircraft Landing Problem was considered. It was assumed that one of the runways is not available. A mixed integer formulation approach was proposed to deal with the problem. The approach of solving this problem was breaking down the main problem into several sub problems. To validate the model, eight test problems were extracted from the OR-Library and discussions made on their solutions.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ij-ict.v2i3.5284

Abstract

Today’s popularity of the short messages services (SMS) has created a propitious environment for spamming to thrive. Spams are unsolicited advertising, adult-themed or inappropriate content, premium fraud, smishing and malware. They are a constant reminder of the need for an effective spam filter. However, SMS limitations of 160-charcaters and 140-bytes size as well as its being rippled with slangs, emoticons and abbreviations further inhibits effective training of models to aid accurate classification. The study proposes Genetic Algorithm Trained Bayesian Network solution that seeks to normalize noisy feats, expand text via use of lexicographic and semantic dictionaries that uses word sense disambiguation technique to train the underlying learning heuristics. And in turn, effectively help to classify SMS in spam and legitimate classes. Hybrid model comprises of text preprocessing, feature selection as well as training and classification section. Study uses a hybrid Genetic Algorithm trained Bayesian model for which the GA is used for feature selection; while, the Bayesian algorithm is used as classifier.

Abstract

Femtocells can significantly boost up wireless cellular network capacity by reducing communication distances to user equipment and also by reusing resources already utilized in the macrocell network on which they overlay. However, the deployment of femtocells within a macrocell coverage area, causes severe interference between the femtocell and the macrocell, which may have an impact on the overall performance of the femtocells. Avoiding such interference is very important for the effective co-existence of femtocells and macrocell. This paper proposes an algorithm to mitigate cross-tier interference between a femtocell and a macrocell using adaptive power control. The proposed approach is modeled and simulated using MATLAB. The impact on the performance of the femtocell using the proposed algorithm is analysed. Results show that the proposed adaptive power control algorithm has tremendously reduced the negative effects on the system throughput, delay and outage probability for voice and data traffics.

Abstract

PCI Express is a high-speed serial connection that operates more like a network than a bus. PCI Express will serve as a general purpose I/O interconnects for a wide variety of future computing and communications platforms. PCI Express (PCIe) is implemented with a split-transaction protocol that provides more bandwidth and is compatible with existing operating systems. PCI Express has three discrete logical layers: the Transaction Layer, the Data Link Layer, and the Physical Layer. This paper  analyze and simulates the function of Transaction layer IP core in the System Level with top-down design method, wrote the codes to implement Transaction Layer using Very high speed hardware description language (VHDL) and provided the simulation results using Active HDL Simulation tool. The simulation result shows that the designed IP core meets the required protocol specifications for the proper functioning of PCI Express Transaction layer.

Abstract

Eigen faces(PCA) approach for face recognition ,The face is an important part of who you are how people identify you. In face recognition there are two types of comparisons verification and identification. There are about 80 nodal points on a human face here are few nodal points that are measured by software that are distance between eyes ,width of the nose, Depth of the eye socket, Check bones, Jaw line and Chin By this method we can take automatic attendance .face recognition is done by projecting new image onto a low dimensional linear “face space” defined by the Eigen faces. This method is reliable , low cost , faster access and reduce man power.

Abstract

The compression is a process of Image Processing which interested to change the information representation in order to reduce the stockage capacity and transmission time. In this work we propose a new image compression algorithm based on Haar wavelets by introducing a compression coefficient that controls the compression levels. This method reduces the complexity in obtaining the desired level of compression from the original image only and without using intermediate levels.

Abstract

This paper presents the effective method for the whole view synthesizing of the large-scale object. This synthesizing method is developed based on the image registration approach. The foreground object is extracted from each image by color image processing. The information of the feature points of an object is obtained from a foreground image and establishing the correspondence among views. The translation and rotation parameters between two successive images are estimated by the computed camera calibration parameters. The second image is transformed by using these parameters and combine to first image. The integrated image is obtained by combining the overlapping parts of these images. A whole view of the large scale object is reconstructed image by applying the above process successively. Preliminary investigations with sampled images of a real scene have been done to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ij-ict.v1i1.597

Abstract

Accidents have become major issue in Developing countries like India now a day. As per the Surveys 60% of the accidents are happening due to over speed. Though the government has taken so many initiatives like Traffic Awareness & Driving Awareness Week etc.., but still the percentage of accidents are not getting reduced. In this paper a new technique has been introduced in order to reduce the percentage of accidents. The new technique is implemented using the concept of Intelligent Speed Braking System. The Intelligent Speed Braking systems can be implemented any where essential in order to avoid the accidents. The main objective of this system is to calculate the speed of the vehicle at three different locations based on the place where the vehicle speed has to be controlled and if the speed is greater than the designated speed in that road then it will automatically open up the speed breaker to control the speed of the vehicle. If the speed is less or equal to the designated speed in that road then the vehicle will be passed without any disturbance. This system though it won’t avoid 100% accidents at least it will reduce the percentage of accidents. This is system is not only to avoid accidents it will also intelligently controls the speed of the vehicles and creates awareness amongst the drivers.
