Abstract

The increasing intensity of Rohingya refugee arrivals due to ethnic conflicts in Q4 2023 and Q1 2024 has once again drawn the attention of online mass media. The headlines set by several media outlets indicate that this event holds significant news value. The issue of Rohingya refugees has become one of the most prominent humanitarian crises of the 21st century, sparking various reactions and debates worldwide. On one hand, it reflects compassion and solidarity toward humanity, while on the other, it demands a firm stance that upholds national values. This study employs a constructivist paradigm using Robert N. Entman's framing analysis model. The research focuses on how online media frame news about Rohingya refugees as victims of conflict in Myanmar. Six online media outlets were analyzed, including IDN Times (March 5), Detik.com (April 3), Liputan6 (April 13), CNN Indonesia (May 3), Kompas.com (May 7), and Tribunnews (May 7), arranged chronologically by the most recent publication of news on the Rohingya refugee issue. The analysis uses elements of Robert N. Entman's model, comprising Define Problem (problem definition), Diagnose Causes (identifying the problem and its sources), Make Moral Judgement (making moral assessments), and Treatment Recommendation (emphasizing solutions). The findings show that each media outlet's framing influences readers' perceptions differently. Online media generally tend to frame the issue positively regarding the government, portraying its central role as the primary helper. However, Liputan6 takes a more critical approach, encouraging readers to recognize shortcomings and challenges, including violations of local regulations by refugees. Meanwhile, CNN Indonesia opts for a global perspective, helping readers understand the scale of the crisis and the importance of international responses. Keywords: Framing Analysis, Indonesian Online Media, Latest Rohingya News

Abstract

This research examines public relations practices in universities in relation to the Independent Learning and Campus (MBKM) program, emphasizing the importance of ecosystem management in strengthening institutional reputation and communication systems. The study aims to explore public relations responses to the challenges of the MBKM program through ecosystem-based governance within institutional publicity systems. The researchers employed a qualitative method with an exploratory case study approach to investigate the implementation of the MBKM program over the past two years at Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI). Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, focus group discussions, and analysis of policy documents and publications. Data credibility was ensured through triangulation, member checks, and team discussions. The findings indicate that university public relations adaptively utilize communication skills to manage both internal programs and external collaborations with businesses, industries, and student exchange programs supported by the Ministry of Education. Public information is continuously disseminated through the university’s website, social media, and other online platforms. The university's public communication system adopts a structural and cultural approach aligned with institutional regulations to support public information disclosure while enhancing the institution's academic reputation. Abstract

This research aims to analyze KH Khoiron Syu'aib's da'wah strategy in supporting the career transition of former commercial sex workers (PSK) in the former Bangunsari localization, Surabaya. The government's closure of Bangunsari prostitution localization had a significant impact on former prostitutes who lost their livelihoods. In this context, da'wah plays an important role in providing moral, spiritual, and practical support to help them transition to a more dignified profession. This research uses a qualitative method to explore the da'wah strategy implemented by KH Khoiron Syu'aib. Data was collected through interviews with KH Khoiron Syu'aib, a former prostitute, and local community leaders. Direct observation and documentation were also carried out to complete the data. The results of this research show that KH Khoiron Syu'aib uses a holistic and comprehensive da'wah approach, including spiritual aspects, skills development, economic empowerment, and psychosocial support. Through regular recitations, skills training and economic empowerment programs, KH Khoiron Syu'aib has succeeded in increasing the awareness and ability of former prostitutes to switch to other, more dignified professions. Apart from that, the psychosocial support provided also helps former prostitutes overcome social stigma and increase their self-confidence. This research concludes that KH Khoiron Syu'aib's da'wah strategy is effective in supporting the career transition of former prostitutes in the former Bangunsari localization. A holistic and comprehensive approach is the key to success in changing the lives of former prostitutes and improving their welfare. It is hoped that these findings can become a reference for similar empowerment programs in other regions, as well as contributing to the development of a more effective and sustainable da'wah model in overcoming the social and economic problems faced by former prostitutes in Indonesia. Keywords: Career transition of prostitutes, Da'wah, Former Bangunsari localization, KH Khoiron Syuaib

Abstract

Instagram has emerged as a dominant platform in social media marketing, particularly for the cosmetic industry, which thrives on visual and interactive content. With Instagram penetration in Indonesia increasing by 13% from 2022 to 2023, it has become a critical medium for promoting products, monitoring trends, and analysing consumer behaviours. However, a gap remains in understanding how different types of Instagram content influence consumer engagement, especially in the context of cosmetic brands. This research addresses the specific issue of how various content forms, such as images, videos, and interactive campaigns, impact engagement metrics like likes, comments, and shares. By analysing 10 leading cosmetic brands in Indonesia, the study identifies that interactive content, such as influencer collaborations, storytelling, and giveaways, significantly enhances consumer interaction compared to static visuals. The findings offer practical solutions for optimizing social media strategies, enabling brands to build stronger emotional connections with their audiences while improving loyalty and retention. This research contributes to social media marketing literature and provides actionable insights for cosmetic brands to develop data-driven and impactful content strategies in an increasingly competitive market.
