Abstract

The film Ngeri Ngeri Sedap highlights Batak culture with the conflict between Batak parents and their eldest son who wants to marry a woman from a Sundanese ethnic background. This research aims to look at the co-culture process that occurs between these cultures to analyze the phenomenon of marriage between dominant cultures in Indonesia, such as the Batak tribe. This research uses a content analysis method with a conventional content analysis approach by looking at the process of assimilation, accommodation, and separation between the Domu character and the Neni character. The findings of this research are that the character Neni carries out assertive assimilation to approach and adapt to Domu by manipulating stereotypes by carrying out a procession of giving the Batak surname before getting married using the Batak wedding process. Neni also accommodated her ability and communication skills with Pak Domu which was shown by using the nickname "Amangboru". An interesting finding was the aggressive separation of the Sarma couple, who in the end were told they did not continue the relationship and experienced rejection because of their Javanese background. The separation that was carried out showed that there was a firm action from the co-culture group against the dominant group in terms of marriage.

Abstract

The development of communication technology allows muted people to express themselves in the social environment. Women serving as wives and mothers are a category of group still negotiating with patriarchal values that silence them. This article highlights the behavior of women as wives and mothers who share experiences and create a support ecosystem through the mediation of online conversation platforms. Through the perspective of feminism and affect theory with digital ethnographic data collection methods on The Asian Parent Indonesia platform, this paper aims to understand women's bodily experiences as part of representative knowledge production. This paper argues that digital conversation platforms create alternative spaces for nurturing and care that are limited in offline spaces, while mediating the process of feeling collectively among women who experience the bodily experience of being a wife or mother. The intersection of women, body, and digital technology shows that personal bodily experiences can establish collective bonds through the mobilization of emotions mediated by digital technology. Conversing with fellow women virtually is an effort to find a safe space for women who are silenced in the process of nurturing and caring in offline spaces.
