Abstract

This study examines the evolution of teaching methods in Christian Religious Education within the digital era, marked by technological advancements. The research focuses on balancing the preservation of Christian faith traditions with the adoption of future technologies. A qualitative methodology with a thematic approach is employed to critically analyze the challenges and opportunities of integrating technology into religious education. Technologies such as online learning and artificial intelligence offer significant potential to enrich Christian religious education, yet they also present ethical and theological challenges. This article identifies innovative strategies that harmonize traditional pedagogical approaches with technological innovations without compromising spiritual depth and theological values. The findings reveal that the application of technology in Christian Religious Education must consider a balance between practical aspects and the essence of faith, ensuring the relevance of learning for the digital generation while maintaining the integrity of Christian teachings. These findings contribute to developing a holistic and transformative educational model in the modern era.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of a landslide disaster on the spiritual life of the Evangelical Christian Church in Timor (GMIT) Victory Noelmina congregation, which consists of members from Noelmina Village and its surrounding areas. The research focuses on the effects of the disaster on the congregation's spirituality, including the intensity of worship, involvement in church ministry, and spiritual resilience in facing trauma and loss. This study employs a qualitative method with a single case study approach. The research subjects are three families from the GMIT Victory Noelmina congregation directly affected by the disaster, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted thematically through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the landslide disaster increased the congregation's spirituality. Worship attendance rose from 60% to 91%, and participation in church ministries such as prayer meetings and catechetical worship increased. Spiritual resilience became a key factor in trauma recovery, where the congregation interpreted the disaster as an opportunity to strengthen their relationship with God and others. In conclusion, the disaster brought negative impacts and catalyzed spiritual growth and community solidarity, relevant to Christian theology in addressing life's challenges.

Abstract

This study addresses the issue of how the doctrine of the Trinity can be applied as a model for Christian leadership that is relevant in modern churches and Christian organizations, particularly in addressing the challenges of individualism, rigid hierarchies, and role conflicts. The object of this research is the Trinitarian leadership principles rooted in the doctrine of the Trinity, focusing on the principles of unity, diversity, and harmony. The study aims to formulate the concept of Trinitarian leadership within Christian theology and analyze its relevance for leadership in churches and Christian organizations in the modern era. The research employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach. The study examines key theological works, such as those by Bavinck (2012), Zizioulas (2018), and Reeves (2012), as well as other academic writings. Data were analyzed using a content analysis approach, focusing on three main themes: unity in vision, appreciation for diversity, and harmony in conflict resolution. The findings reveal that the principle of unity in the Trinity is relevant for building a shared vision within communities, the principle of diversity strengthens team dynamics through appreciation of individuals' unique roles, and the principle of harmony fosters supportive relationships through open communication and constructive conflict management. In conclusion, the doctrine of the Trinity is not only theologically relevant but also offers an inclusive and collaborative leadership model.

Abstract

The research problem focuses on the differing perspectives between Christianity and the beliefs of the Saluan community regarding the concept of death and the existence of the soul after death. In Christianity, death is viewed as the final separation of the body and soul. In contrast, in the beliefs of the Saluan community, the soul undergoes a transitional phase known as the Periode Ton. This study aims to analyze the similarities and differences in the concepts of death and the existence of the soul after death in both belief systems. The research employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach. Data were collected from various sources, including books, scholarly journal articles, and previous research findings. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that while there are similarities in understanding death as the separation of body and soul, significant differences exist in the existence and influence of the soul after death. In the beliefs of the Saluan community, the soul remains in the physical world until the Mohatu ritual is performed. In contrast, Christianity asserts that the soul immediately enters the presence of God or is separated from Him. In conclusion, this study contributes to contextual theology by integrating cross-cultural understanding.

Abstract

This study focuses on how Abraham's attitude in the narrative of Genesis 14:17-24 can serve as a theological example in addressing cultural and religious plurality, particularly in Indonesia's diverse context. The object of the research is the text of Genesis 14:17-24, analyzed to uncover its relevance to efforts in maintaining plurality in Indonesia. The research aims to highlight sympathetic narratives toward plurality in the Old Testament and how they can be applied in societal life. This study employs a qualitative method with narrative criticism and historical criticism approaches. Narrative criticism analyzes the structure and dynamics of the narrative, such as characters, symbols, and conflicts within the text. Meanwhile, historical criticism is used to understand the socio-historical context of the Israelites, including their interactions with the cultures and religions in Canaan. Data were collected from textual analysis of the Bible and literature on plurality in Indonesia, which were then analyzed interpretatively. The findings reveal that Abraham demonstrated a sympathetic and accommodative attitude toward plurality, such as receiving blessings from Melchizedek, using the name El Elyon, and refraining from confrontational behaviour toward Canaanite local culture. These attitudes reflect values of tolerance and moderation in diversity. In conclusion, this narrative is relevant to addressing the challenges of intolerance in Indonesia and inspires churches and society to promote harmony amidst plurality.
