Abstract

The phenomenon of mass death that occurred amid the Covid-19 pandemic made people reflect on death's meaning. Job 1: 1-22 contained a reflection on death when Job lost all of his children simultaneously to death. This research's main objective is to find the meaning of the phenomenon of mass death amid a pandemic based on the book Job 1: 1-22. The method used is qualitative, with a phenomenological and hermeneutic approach. This study found the meaning of mass death amid the Covid-19 pandemic based on Job 1: 1-22 is 1). the form of God's power, which must be recognized and accepted by humans; 2). the test of faith that God allows to occur in human life.

Abstract

Paguyuban Ngesti Tunggal (PANGESTU) is proliferating. PANGESTU claims that all religions are the same and are the essence of all formal religions' teachings. The postmodern context that upholds pluralism and truth relativism is challenging in proclaiming the Good News, especially for PANGESTU followers. Therefore, a new way of applying apologetics is needed to reach postmoderns. This study aimed to find the application of apologetics as a conversation model for the Good News in the PANGESTU mystical context. This study uses a qualitative approach. The method used is biblical hermeneutics and literature study. The researcher found "Dialogical Apologetics Olah Rasa" as a conversation model for Good News in the context of PANGESTU mysticism, which consists of 4 stages, namely: Stage I, Building dialogical relationships with PANGESTU followers; Stage II, Dialogical Apologetics Olah Rasa as the pre-news of the Good News; Stage III, Proclamation of the Good News; Stage IV, Dialogical Apologetics Olah Rasa as a Discipleship.

Abstract

This article intends to give meaning to God's anger in the light of Pentecostal theology. The methodology used is text analysis and literature review. There are four examples of God's anger that were studied, namely God's anger towards Adam and Eve, God's anger towards the Israelites, the anger of the Lord Jesus towards the disciples, and the anger of the Lord Jesus towards the merchants in the Temple. The research results show that Allah is never angry for no apparent reason, and every anger of Allah is impacted. The causes of God's anger are disobedience, replacing God with other gods, injustice, and trading services. The impact of God's anger is separation from God, loss of the religious community, bringing God's judgment, and death.

Abstract

For Javanese, ‘Slametan,’ the tradition of the dead, is a culture rooted in Javanese lives. This could be a challenge for those who became Christians because the tradition is not according to the Biblical principles regarding the condition of the dead. Therefore, this study aims to find a method that can link Javanese culture and Biblical principles so that there will be no distortion in social life and evangelistic efforts to preach the love of Jesus. A qualitative method is used in this study where observations and literature study collect data through books and journals related to the issues. So, as a result, the contextualization of consolation based on I Corinthians 9:20, the principle of “alike”, will be a method to eliminate the distortions by performing consolation service on the days when the Javanese practice the slametan tradition.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of sermons in Sunday worship on the maturity of the congregation's faith in the Gereja Kristen Indonesia Setia (GKSI) Merauke. The method used is quantitative. The hypothesis is that there is a positive and significant influence between the sermon in Sunday worship on faith maturity. The population is the GKSI Merauke congregation, amounting to 292 people with a sample of 30 people. The instrument used was a closed questionnaire. Validity is tested using the product-moment correlation formula. Data were analyzed using the correlation technique (rxy), tested for the significant relationship with the formula (t) and the test of determination (r2), and simple regression. The successful test was tested by F, and then to find out the effect regression equation was carried out with the formula Y = a + bX. The results showed the effect or r2 = 51% and significant influence or F count = 28.65 where it is known that F table = 4.17 and obtained the meaning of the simple regression equation Y = 7.25 + 0.87X. This study concludes that the sermon on Sunday worship positively and significantly affects the congregation's faith maturity.

Abstract

Divorce in Indonesia is increasing from time to time. This is an indisputable social fact. This research will analyze how the divorce process occurs and how a husband or wife sees their partner from Martin Buber's perspective through a philosophical approach. Divorce is a process leading to separation. Starting from a crisis and prolonged domestic conflict, in the end, it brings a new "perspective" towards their partner. In Buber's perspective, the husband and wife relationship could be said to be in the I-Thou pattern before the conflict. Husbands or wives see their partner as a self-image of their existence as a person, but the family crisis leads them to the I-It pattern, which sees partners as things. The crisis impacts changing the pattern of relations from integrative relationships to segregative and separate ones. The separation between husband and wife begins with self-construction by the "strong" party to their partner, who is in an inferior position. This negative self-construction creeps into a social construction, which impacts the stigmatization of the inferior as the party to blame—this stigma against a partner as "It" facilitates the separation process that leads to divorce.

Abstract

Gender injustice is visible in the sexual division of labor and the mention of a married woman. Generally, the personal name of a married woman will be lost, replaced by her husband's name. This replacing name shows that there is also a pattern of ordination-subordination relationships between men and women in the family. This issue will focus on the discussion in this article, aiming that gender equality can be created starting from the smallest unit in society, namely the family. Using the phenomenological method, which departs from existing facts and then analyzes them with literature studies, this article shows that a person's name refers to a person. If someone's name replaces with another name, the person's identity will be lost and replaced by a new identity based on the new name. Then, if a married woman changes her name with her husband's name, the new name will lose her individuality. The results show that gender education has been carried out by each family through small things, especially in instilling the value of a personal name for a woman so that this will be a force to develop gender justice in society.

Abstract

This study aims to apply Paul's entrepreneurial characteristics as a form of Social Entrepreneurship for Christian entrepreneurs today. Researchers find that there is still little study of this matter so more in-depth research is needed. In addition, the existing studies generally only examine the extent of entrepreneurship. The authors used the research library and rhetorical criticism methods in this study to solve existing problems. The research problem that has been solved is applying Paul's entrepreneurial characteristics as a form of Social Entrepreneurship for Christian entrepreneurs today. The results of this study indicate that Christian entrepreneurs are social entrepreneurs who are required to be innovative, creative, brilliant in reading opportunities, helpful, and actively involved in social transformation, such as Paul's entrepreneurial characteristics.
