Abstract

The text of John 14: 8-14 shows the confusion and failure of the disciples to understand Jesus's teaching. The text seems to contrast with the disciples' closeness to Jesus. They should have understood Jesus' intentions faster because they had lived with Jesus for a long time in the ministry. On the contrary, this dialogue shows if there was a massive dividing wall between Jesus and the disciples. The main factor that prevented the disciples from understanding Jesus' teaching was that the disciples did not yet truly believe in the authority that Jesus had. The disciples are still bound by the OT conceptual understanding of how to see the Father through Theophany's revelation. Therefore, this article examines the meaning of the dialogue by conducting an exegesis analysis of each word and phrase to find the main message emphasized in the text.

Though they have embraced Christianity, they still believe in Duad in their cultural and diverse peculiarities. The method used is qualitative research with a contextual theological concept. The finding of this research is the Kei who have embraced Christianity remain confident in the Duad in their daily lives.

Abstract

This article discusses the oneness in John 15:7 as a contextual mission attempt to the Kejawen practitioners. John 15:7 is explained that if humans are in God and God is in humans, then all that people want will be fulfilled. In the Kejawen teaching, there is also an understanding of oneness, called Manunggaling Kawula Gusti. The concept is also the unification between man and God. The merger of Man with God in this concept through the stages of changing human life. From that definition, the legacy in John 15:7 has similarities with those in the Manunggaling Kawula Gusti concept. For this reason, both can be compared by looking at their similarities and differences. The result obtained from this comparison can be used as a contextualization mission to the Kejawen believers. The method used in this study is qualitative research with the literature study approach and comparisons.

Abstract

Wana, one of the tribes in Central Sulawesi, has a custom of demolishing houses and moving when one of the inhabitants dies. This custom is an expression of their fear of death. In theory, cultural activities around death are always associated with religious concepts. This study aims to explore the religious ideas behind their habits. The research method used was an ethnographic study using interviews as data collection techniques. Informants are 8 (eight) original Wana people. Data is analyzed through reduction, display, and conclusions/verification. The results show that the custom is related to the religious concept they professed regarding death. According to the Wana, death is associated with Pue, the end of everything, and caused by evil spirits. The Purpose of dismantling the house and moving after death is to avoid the influence of evil spirits against the living. For Christian mission activities that want to contribute to the development of Wana, the results show that religious concept needs to be transformed through a contextual approach. The text and context of Mark become integral to the colonization process. The authority of Jesus symbolically as ruler acted superior over the Syro-Phoenician woman, weak and unclean. The authoritative rule over the weak produces stereotypical prejudices and presumptions. At first, they view each other from different places, from their perspective cultural perception rooms, searching for the exact meeting point and establishing bilateral agreements. Abstract

Indonesia has a diversity of cultures, and each culture has its characteristics and these cultures cannot be eliminated. Simultaneously the Tengger Tribe has the privilege of entas culture, where this culture is a ritual that is held to commemorate the death and to ask the Supreme Court so that the spirits who have died get a good place. Based on these cultural features, Christianity must have a mission to communicate Christ to the Tengger Tribe. The mission can be carried out using apologetic dialogue. The apologetic dialogue is based on the conversational theory of evangelism from Geisler. The apologetic dialogue also refers to the God and Culture theory of Richard Neighbor. The apologetic dialogues are arranged in an imaginary dialogue that can be developed and practised by every believer. The purpose of this paper is, first, to know the biblical apologetic dialogue model. Second, knowing the context of entas- ter in the Tengger society. Third, obtain an imaginary Dialogue Model for communicating Christ to the Tengger community. Based on this research, the method used by the author is literature study and Bible study. The apologetic dialogue produced is expected to be a pre-evangelism for the Tengger society.
