Abstract

In most industrial processes, rising productivity necessitates increased demand on electrical motors in order to minimize costs and improve drive system efficiency. The sensorless technique is preferred. Brushless DC (BLDC) motors compete with a wide range of different motor types in the motion control industry. The nonlinearity of BLDC motor characteristics is challenging to manage with a traditional proportional integral derivative (PID) controller. The PID controller's fuzzy logic allowed it to tune itself while operating online. Hybrid approaches outperform stand-alone algorithms because they can overcome their weaknesses without losing their advantage. The purpose of this study is to present a fuzzy PI+D controller that is simulated over a wide range of reference speeds, loads, and parameter variations. This paper presents a model of a sensorless BLDC motor with a speed controller. The responses of the rotor speed, electromagnetic torque, stator back electromotive force (EMF), and stator currents are effectively monitored. The findings from the simulation indicate that the hybrid controller presented in this study exhibits resilience to rapid load torque and parameter fluctuation. Furthermore, it demonstrates superior dynamic performance and exhibits notable enhancements in speed tracking and system stability. The performance of the system is enhanced through the utilization of the proposed hybrid intelligent controller.

Abstract

This paper aims to present a novel trans-cutanaeous, wireless and an efficient radio frequency (RF) inductive power and data link (IPDL) based on amplitude shift key (ASK) - modulator with an efficient ‘Class-E’– RF ‘power amplifier’ that is applicable to implantable medical devices (IMDs). The IPDL system comprises an external device placed on exterior to human skin to transmitting power and data to IMDs like implantable micro-systems (cardiac pacemakers, cochlear implants, retinal implants, deep brain stimulators) to excite and monitor respective neural and muscular system. The entire system is designed to operate with a ‘low-band-frequency’ of 4 MHz by avoiding the problem of tissue heating. A practical model for the IPDL with results is presented. Various graphs such as frequency vs primary coil/secondary coil output are plotted and shown. Typical specifications of the exterior device, namely, the modulation-index (MI) and the modulation-rate (MR) are 40% and 4.3% respectively with a data rate of 172 Kbps. The design is simulated with electronic workbench MULTISIM 12.0 and TINA Ver 9.

Abstract

Converting conventional AC radial shipboard distribution system to DC system has been recognized as a potential high impact solution to reduce ship’s fuel consumption. As big ships in Indonesia commonly use low voltage AC (LVAC) distribution system an effort to apply low voltage direct current (LVDC) distribution system without replace the propulsion system is a plausible choice. However, technical and economical investigations are required before recommendation to convert the shipboard distribution system to LVDC is officially launched. In this study, technical aspect in the term of short-circuit current is discussed. The goal of this study is to analyze how much the impact on the short-circuit current when LVDC system replaces LVAC system. The impact may affect the feasibility of LVDC system as the short-circuit current in a system dictate the scheme and capacity of the protection devices. Numerical simulations on a sample vessel are performed to obtain the profile of maximum short-circuit currents on all panels. The results show that the utilization of LVDC system decreases the short-circuit current by 10 times. Further investigations on the economic aspect needs to be performed to give clearer view of the feasibility of the LVDC system.

Abstract

This paper presents a novel hybrid cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter (HCHB MLI) designed to address the growing importance of multilevel inverters in the context of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and fuel cells. The proposed topology features eight insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) switches and utilizes two distinct input direct current (DC) sources: a battery and a capacitor, making it a hybrid system. The control strategy employed in this topology is based on fundamental switching frequency techniques. Simulation results of the proposed topology are conducted using MATLAB/Simulink software, while hardware experimentation with a single-phase H-bridge inverter is also demonstrated in the paper. For pulse generation and IGBT switch control, an Arduino UNO microcontroller is utilized. The output voltage of the single-phase H-bridge inverter is verified through experimentation using a cathode-ray oscilloscope (CRO).

Abstract

In current article an improved salp swarm algorithm (SSA) has been suggested. Likewise, the adjustable scaling-component is locked in to manage salp’s situation in time of the hunt system to limit arbitrary development salps. The upgraded salp swarm method combines random objection-based learning, multiple management, and simulated hardening in swarm brilliant-based metaheuristic salp swarm method, which rises the exploration and exploitation of the primary salp swarm method. To exhibit viability of the improved SSA, a bunch of multichannel test capabilities are locked in. A partially decentralized combined fuzzy proportional integral derivative (PD-CFPID) regulator is planned for integrated grid. A partially decentralized robust control plan is introduced to deal with a class of multi-inputs multi outputs (MIMO) non-square, linear framework different systems. Partially decentralized command is a control composition that lies between a completely decentralized structure and a wholly centralized one, and has the primacy of achieving comparable performance as an entirely centralized regulator but with simpler shape. The proposed flexible partially decoupled command scheme works in a straightforward and systematic way. Simulations show that the proposed partially decentralized control performs well for the nonlinear system, nearly equivalent to the multivariable control, and they achieve better performance indexes. Simulation outcomes appear that the stated method is simple and can reach better performance. The results of the PD-CFPID regulator are compare among CFPID and PID as many circumstances of the presented control outlook.

Abstract

The shortage of traditional fossil fuels like coal, petrol and natural-gas are increased day-by-day, fulfills the most of energy demand. Most of engineers are trying to maximize the energy demand by employing renewable energy with existing micro-grid system. Owing to merits, the solar-PV system plays a significant alternative among all other renewable energy sources due to abundant and virtuous nature. For grid-tied solar-PV system, the cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter is the most significant over the classical 2-level inverter due to provision of isolated input DC sources. But the cascaded H-bridge topology is designed for limited voltage levels due to its larger number of switches for higher voltage levels, high cost, large-size, and more weight. To alleviate these demerits, a reduced-switch multilevel inverter has been generally preferable for higher voltage levels. In this work, a novel 9-level reduced-switch multilevel inverter (RSMLI) topology has been proposed by utilizing low number of switching devices. The performance of proposed novel 9-level RSMLI topology has been verified in grid-tied solar-PV system by using MATLAB/Simulink tool, simulation results are presented with attractive comparisons.

Abstract

The world is moving forward to a transition in the form of increasing the contribution of renewable energy sources in the energy sector, and among these, solar photovoltaic-based power generation is catching pace. Several factors are responsible for the lowering of outputs due to different degradation causes such as hotspots, corrosion, humidity, ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, temperature effects, dust, aging, weathering, yellowing, snail trails, discoloration, junction box failure, delamination, cracks, and faults from the solar photovoltaic (PV) plants. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the various form of degradation and their implications on solar PV power plant performance. The review has been carried out considering the different degradation causes and their identification methods in solar PV plant. Further, the analysis has been done on the basis of the earlier studies to understand the rates of degradation for various solar PV power plants in various climatic conditions. The PV technologies used in solar power plants are also responsible for the change in the performance of power plants over time; therefore, degradation based on different solar PV cell technologies is also analyzed. The visual inspection tools like thermal imaging with IR cameras help identify areas with abnormal heat patterns, indicating potential issues like cell or interconnect failures, loose electrical connections, or bypass diode malfunctions while EL cameras are used to identify low-level electrical excitation and defects such as cracks, hotspots, and cell-level degradation.

Abstract

In the current situation, the use of non-linear power electronic devices in automated industries, arc-furnaces, and adjustable speed drives. The nature of large-sized non-linear loads causes harmonic pollution, voltage interruptions, and voltage sag/swell issues, which are the main issues in modern multi-parallel feeder distribution network. Several mitigation techniques among the above, the multi-convertible universal power-quality conditioner has reliable performance, robust operation and also mitigation of both current-voltage allied power quality (PQ) issues accordingly. The multi-convertible universal power-quality conditioner (Mcon-UPQC) device mitigates power-quality issues by extracting deviated supply voltage and distorted load current by using feasible control algorithm. But, the computational delay, complex mathematical transformation and response delay are the major problem identified in conventional control algorithms. In this work, a novel generalized vector reference control algorithm has been proposed for extraction of fundamental reference voltage-current signals. The performance and effectiveness of proposed control algorithm of Mcon-UPQC device is validated by using MATLAB-Simulink computing tool, simulated outcomes are illustrated with valid comparisons.

Abstract

The need for alternative energy sources becomes extensive because of the escalating cost of fossil fuels. The goal of this paper is to examine the effectiveness of combining photovoltaics and agriculture for better yield. Photovoltaic (PV) solar plants will compete with farms for available land. In this study, the methodologies are discussed how it is possible to maximize land utilization by placing solar arrays and food crops on the same plot of land. The term is proposed "agrivoltaic system" to describe this setup. Conventional solutions (discrimination of agricultural and energy extracting) were compared to two agrivoltaic schemes with varying density of PV arrays using land equivalent ratios. We utilized a crop model to simulate the amount of sunlight reaching the crop from an array of solar panels and to speculate on the yield reduction that would result from the partial shading. These early findings suggest that agrivoltaic systems may be highly effective; the two densities of PV panels were anticipated to boost worldwide land production by 73%. One possible explanation for the success of these hybrid systems is the presence of facilitation mechanisms analogous to those seen in agroforestry. At the end it is suggested that in places where arable land is rare, new solar plants may find it beneficial to produce both power and food.
