Abstract

Flooding is among the most common hydrometeorological disasters in Indonesia, including in Ambon City. This research aims to evaluate Ambon City’s 2011–2031 Spatial Plan with a focus on flood vulnerability. Using the Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) method, six parameters influencing flooding were analyzed: landform, elevation, land use, river buffer, soil type, and rainfall. The results indicate that the flood hazard classes in Ambon City are predominantly low (22,461.27 ha), followed by medium (9,872.83 ha) and high (1,833.07 ha) hazard areas. Notably, 50.08% (2,222.06 ha) of settlements are predicted to be affected by high flood hazard, 49.91% (2,214.67 ha) by medium hazard, and 0.01% (0.39 ha) by low hazard. Among spatial patterns, medium-density residential areas represent the largest portion of flood-affected zones, covering 532.78 ha in the high hazard class and 1,899.45 ha in the medium hazard class. In the low hazard class, buffer zones (5,127.05 ha) and agricultural areas (4,074.65 ha) are most affected. Based on these findings, recommendations include strengthening drainage infrastructure, enforcing strict zoning for new developments, and enhancing community participation in spatial planning, with the goal of increasing regional resilience to flood disasters and promoting environmental sustainability

Abstract

This study aims to describe the settlement patterns in Nagari Panti Selatan, a region in West Sumatra, influenced by its history, Minangkabau adat culture, and social interactions within the community. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with phenomenology, the research gathered data through interviews with adat leaders and field observations. The findings indicate that the settlement pattern in Nagari Panti Selatan was formed based on land clearing by adat leaders known as tiang pancang nan ampek and influenced by the matrilineal adat system and the division of adat territories. The settlement pattern in this Nagari is generally clustered (baumpuak), following the strong principles of mutual cooperation and togetherness in the community. Some areas, such as Tambangan, Petok, and Ujuang Padang, show clustered settlement patterns, while newly developed areas are more influenced by access to main roads. The study also emphasizes the importance of preserving adat values and culture in the development of Nagari Panti Selatan. In conclusion, although settlement patterns have changed with the development of infrastructure, adat values still play a dominant role in regulating social life in Nagari Panti Selatan. The study suggests the importance of preserving the history of adat and strengthening the role of adat leaders in development planning to maintain the balance between tradition and modernization.

Abstract

Coastal settlements continue to expand rapidly, driven by population growth and housing development shaped by diverse socio-economic and cultural factors. This study examines the factors influencing settlement decision in coastal areas through a quantitative approach, using questionnaires from 196 respondents and observations in eight sub-districts of Bandar Lampung. The city was selected due to its rapid coastal urbanization, with long-established yet continuously growing coastal settlements. The findings reveal that most residents—fishermen, traders, and laborers linked to urban and fisheries activities—have lived in these areas for over a decade. They primarily construct homes on coastal land and over water using wooden and brick structures. Economic factors, particularly affordable coastal land, are the most influential, alongside proximity to the city and family networks, which further drive continuous settlement growth. These trends underscore the urgent need for integrated spatial planning and stronger policy frameworks to balance urban expansion, environmental sustainability, and long-term coastal resilience.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the level of urban sprawl development from 2016 to 2020, the influence of land prices on urban sprawl development and urban sprawl control efforts in Driyorejo District based on land prices. The analysis methods used are spatial analysis, scoring, linear regression and AWOT. Data collection techniques were observation, questionnaires, documentation and agency surveys. The results showed that there was only 1 village that experienced a decrease in the level of urban sprawl from 2016-2020, namely Randegansari Village. The development of urban sprawl level in Driyorejo Subdistrict has no significant relationship with land price, but is influenced by other factors. Efforts to control urban sprawl based on the results of the AWOT analysis that the local government needs to compile and implement the Detailed Spatial Plan and Zoning Regulations of Driyorejo District based on applicable regulations and improve connectivity and accessibility between regions.
