Abstract

Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) conducted in Indonesia in 2006 reported that 37.3 percent of students smoked, and three of ten students (30.9) started smoking at the age of younger than 10 years old. Therefore, it is important to develop an effective treatment for teen smokers to eliminate their smoking habit, and thus protect them from smoking negative impact as early as possible. Dealing with nicotine-addicted teens requires an approach that involves cognitive and behavioral aspects, and CBT is a method embracing both. This study observes the effectiveness of CBT group in the treatment of nicotine-addicted adolescent. CBT group method provides fundamental fact that it can develop adaptive responses of its members. In CBT group, participants can learn the principles of CBT in more active way. Individual capacity within a group to obtain an adaptive response often exceeds the ability of the individual itself in an individual setting (White & Freeman, 2000). The study reveals that the CBT group therapy is effective in reducing nicotine addiction of the four participants. The given therapy successfully decreases cigarette intake by 97.91% and lessen smoking motives by 44.30 percent. This therapy is also able to lower cigarette addiction to a very low level.

Abstract

Pancasila is a national point of view and way life of the Indonesian people, set up by the founding fathers and promulgated as philosophical foundation of the Indonesian state. As a way of life, Pancasila is very indigenous. Today, Pancasila is more often studied as political construction and citizenship. Therefore, the authors develop this scale, which can serve as a tool for researcher, especially in social and political psychology area in Indonesia. This scale can also contribute in obtaining overview of Pancasila in the society and can serve as a reference to public decision maker, especially in developing national identity. The development of this measurement is based on values contained in the five principles of Pancasila. The trial is conducted to 41 students from faculty of psychology. For data collection, QuestionPro is used as online survey software. In terms of the analyzed item, the initial scale consists of 37 items, and then is reduced to 32 items. The reliability coefficient using Cronbach's Alpha is 0.848. One of item, namely item no.30, has the highest correlation coefficient. Overall, we find highly corrected item-total correlation in the five principles of Pancasila. This result has linearity from Meinarno's (2010) finding in folklore values. The five principles of Pancasila frequently appears in the Sumatran and Javanese folklores.

Abstract

In inclusive education practices, several aspects determine the quality of teaching process. One of them is teaching resources. This study aims to assess teacher's readiness in inclusive schools, based on how they employ their tasks in the inclusive setting. According to PLB Directorate Guide Book (2004d). and Hallahan and Kauffman (1994), those tasks are (1) to create a conducive learning environment; (2) to construct and implement assessment to all children in order to identify every child's needs, strengths, and weaknesses; (3) to design an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and accommodate every child's needs; (4) to collaborate with all related parties; (5) to teach and evaluate; and (6) to manage classroom administration. The study shows that all respondents can employ those tasks. However, there are some flaws in the implementation, particularly on tasks involving direct relations with special-need children, such as (1) IEP and (2) teaching strategies and tools. These flaws are usually due to the classroom teachers' limited knowledge, and school's failure to provide adequate facilities for all children's needs, especially children with special needs. Thus, to be able to do their tasks optimally, teachers need positive attitude; a sufficient knowledge about special-need children and inclusive school; skills and socialization; and adequate facilities. It is necessary for the next study to employ observational methods as the main tool, and utilize a quantitative approach to complement this study.
