Abstract

Abstract — This study aims to describe the religious commitment, self-esteem, and satisfaction with life based on the types of arranged-marriage (low arranged-marriage and high-arranged-marriage) on Arabic Baalwy women. This research was conducted with two approaches, a quantitative approach with 103 female participants (age ranging from 20 to 74 years old) and qualitative approach on 9 participants of the samples. The instruments used for this research were RCI-10 (Religious Commitment Inventory), Self-Esteem Scale, Satisfaction with Life Scale, and interview guidelines. All participants were married by way of an arranged-marriage, either one of the two types of arranged-marriage. The first type (low arranged-marriage) still allows freedom to prospective female partners to accept or decline the male who was betrothed to her, while the second type (high-arranged-marriage) do not give these freedoms. The type was assessed with Arranged-marriage questionnaire that consisted of a close-ended question about the types of arranged-marriage and one open-ended question to ensure the participants’ answers. The results showed that in general the level of religious commitment, self-esteem, and satisfaction with life is quite high. The results indicated that there is no significant differences between religious commitment, self-esteem, and satisfaction with life for both types of arranged-marriage. Based on the qualitative analysis, participants had no objections with their types of arranged-marriage. It was because of their obedience to their parents and God; to maintain the purity of their offspring, so that they do not lose their self-esteem within the group; and they are satisfied with the life they lead. Suggestions for further research is to explore other psychological variables in the group of Arabic Baalwy women.   Abstrak — Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran religious commitment, self-esteem, dan satisfaction with life berdasarkan tipe arranged-marriage (low arranged-marriage dan high arranged-marriage) pada wanita keturunan Arab Baalwy. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan dua pendekatan, yaitu pendekatan kuantitatif pada 103 partisipan (dari usia 20 sampai 74 tahun), dan pendekatan kualitatif pada 9 orang dari sampel tersebut. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah RCI-10 (Religious Commitment Inventory), Self-Esteem Scale , Satisfaction with Life Scale , serta pedoman wawancara. Semua partisipan menikah dengan cara dijodohkan, hanya saja terdapat dua tipe perjodohan. Tipe pertama (low arranged-marriage) adalah perjodohan yang masih memberikan kebebasan untuk calon pasangan perempuan menerima atau tidak pria yang dijodohkan kepadanya, sedangkan tipe kedua (high arranged-marriage) tidak memberikan kebebasan tersebut. Tipe perjodohan ini diketahui dari Arranged-marriage questionnaire yang terdiri atas satu pertanyaan tertutup mengenai tipe perjodohan dan satu pertanyaan terbuka untuk memastikan jawaban partisipan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada umumnya tingkat religious commitment, self-esteem, dan satisfaction with life yang cukup tinggi. Hasil analisis kuantitatif mendapatkan perbedaan tingkat religious commitment, self-esteem, dan satisfaction with life pada kedua tipe arranged-marriage itu tidak signifikan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis kualitatif, partisipan-partisipan tidak merasa keberatan dengan apa pun tingkat perjodohan yang mereka alami. Hal tersebut disebabkan bentuk ketaatan mereka terhadap orangtua dan Tuhan; untuk menjaga kemurnian keturunan mereka, agar mereka tidak kehilangan harga diri dalam kelompok mereka; serta mereka puas dengan kehidupan yang mereka jalani tersebut. Abstract

Peristiwa kebakaran yang menyebabkan luka bakar kerap menimbulkan pengaruh negatif secara psikologis terhadap diri penderitanya. Selain kerusakan isik yang dialaminya, peristiwa tersebut dapat pula mengakibatkan hilangnya anggota keluarga yang dicintai, yang mengharuskan penderitanya tinggal di Panti Asuhan, karena sudah tidak memiliki keluarga dan tempat tinggal, lagi dan juga harus berhadapan dengan kondisi-kondisi sulit dan menekan dalam kehidupannya. Penderita luka bakar yang mampu mengembangkan kemampuan resiliensinya dengan baik dapat menyesuaikan diri, bangkit, bahkan berhasil menjadi individu yang lebih baik. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran kemampuan resiliensi dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi resiliensi pada remaja penderita luka bakar yang tinggal di Panti Asuhan. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik wawancara dan observasi yang dilakukan pada satu subjek yang rentang usianya termasuk dalam usia remaja yang memiliki luka bakar dan harus tinggal di panti asuhan. Hasil penelitian ini menjabarkan deskripsi kemampuan resiliensi pada remaja penderita luka bakar yang tinggal di panti asuhan, dengan berbagai faktor risiko dan protektifnya.

Abstract

Abstract — The present study intends to describe the dynamics of marital satisfaction of women of Arabian descent who married a spouse of another ethnicity. The marriage of women of Arabian descent with someone from a different ethnicity is considered as breaking the cultural norms. In the present study, marital satisfaction consists of many aspects, namely communication, the personality of the spouse, the ability to solve conflicts, sexual relationship, leisure activity, the presence of children and parenting, financial management, role suitability, religious orientation, as well as family and friends. The present study employed qualitative methods with 2 participants. Participants were women of Arabian descent who married someone from another ethnicity for two to five years and at least graduated from high school.  Data were gathered through interview and observation. The results showed that participants feel uncomfortable due to their marriage being disapproved by their extended family, however it does not seem to influence their marital satisfaction significantly. The most significant factor influencing marital satisfaction of both participants was financial or economic factor.Abstrak — Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran dinamika kepuasan pernikahan pada wanita keturunan Arab yang melakukan pernikahan dengan etnis lain. Pernikahan wanita keturunan Arab dengan etnis di luar Arab dianggap bertentangan dengan adat istiadat.  Kepuasan pernikahan pada penelitian ini dilihat dari beberapa aspek kepuasan pernikahan, di antaranya komunikasi, kepribadian pasangan, kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah, hubungan seksual, aktivitas waktu luang, kehadiran anak dan menjadi orangtua, mengatur keuangan, kesesuaian peran, orientasi keagamaan, serta keluarga dan teman. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan 2 partisipan. Karakteristik partisipan adalah wanita keturunan Arab yang menikah dengan etnis lain, usia pernikahan antara dua sampai lima tahun, dan tingkat pendidikan minimal SMA atau sederajat. Pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya rasa ketidaknyamanan dalam rumah tangga ketika keluarga besar tidak menyetujui pernikahan partisipan, namun hal tersebut kurang memberikan pengaruh besar kepada kepuasan pernikahan kedua partisipan. Faktor yang berpengaruh besar dalam kepuasan pernikahan kedua partisipan adalah faktor ekonomi  atau keuangan.

Abstract

Abstract — Development of entertainment feature over the internet gives some positive and negative impacts for the users. One of the negative outcomes is the over engagement in the excessive use of online games that create psychological, social, school and work difficulties in a person’s life is known as Problematic Online Game Use  (POGU). This research aimed to explore the correlation between parenting style and Problematic Online Game Use  (POGU). The participants for this research are 200 Indonesian adolescents, ranging from 14 to 24 years old. The term POGU in this research was based on the study conducted by Kim and Kim (2010). An Indonesian version of Problematic Online Game Use Scale and questionnaire to measure parenting style were employed to collect the data. The results of this study indicated that there was a significant relationship between authoritative parenting and POGU, whereas no significant relationship was found between the other three types of parenting, namely: authoritarian, permissive, and neglected to POGU. This study showed higher tendency of Problematic Online Game Use among adolescents with authoritative type of parenting, compared with authoritarian, permissive, and neglected type of parenting. Abstrak — Fitur hiburan yang berkembang seiring dengan perkembangan internet memberikan dampak positif dan negative terhadap penggunanya. Salah satu dampak negatifnya ialah munculnya perilaku bermain game online sampai batas ia menciptakan dampak psikologis, sosial, sekolah, dan bekerja sehingga menimbulkan kesulitan dalam kehidupan seseorang dikenal dengan istilah Problematic Online Game Use (POGU). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah ada hubungan antara pola asuh yang diberikan orang tua pada remaja dengan  Problematic Online Game Use (POGU). Partisipan penelitian ini adalah remaja Indonesia yang berusia 14-24 tahun, sebanyak 200 orang. POGU dalam penelitian ini dilihat dari sudut pandang teori Kim dan Kim (2010). Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Problematic Online Game Use Scale yang diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia serta alat ukur pola asuh yang diadopsi dari penelitian Chandi (2007). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara pola asuh authoritative dan POGU, sedangkan tidak ditemukan hubungan yang signifikan antara tiga tipe pola asuh lainnya yaitu authoritarian, permissive, dan neglected  dengan POGU. Penelitian ini menunjukkan tingginya kecenderungan Problematic Online Game Use pada remaja dengan pola asuh authoritative, dibandingkan dengan pola asuh authoritarian, permissive, dan neglected.

Abstract

Indonesia adalah termasuk negara yang rentan akan bencana alam. Relawan adalah seseorang yang mempunyai hasrat untuk membantu orang lain tanpa mengharapkan imbalan atau dikenal dengan istilah altruisme (Myers, 1999). Jika melihat relawan, yang diharapkan adalah individu yang mempunyai kapasitas untuk bertahan meskipun berada dalam keadaan yang sulit dalam keadaan bencana. Kapasitas tersebut disebut dengan resiliensi (Maddi & Khoshaba, 2005). Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara resiliensi dengan altruisme. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah relawan bencana alam yang tergabung dalam Lembaga Sosial Masyarakat (LSM) sebanyak 100 orang. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan skala resiliensi dan altruisme. Dengan menggunakan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan konsep penelitian deskriptif korelasional Pearson product moment didapatkan hasil bahwa koefi sien korelasi anatara variabel tersebut adalah sebesar .448 dan signifi kan pada level .01 (p=.000). Hal ini berarti terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifi kan antara variabel resiliensi dengan altruisme pada relawan bencana alam, maka, semakin tinggi tingkat resiliensi, semakin tinggi pula tingkat altruismenya. Begitu pula sebaliknya, semakin rendah tingkat resiliensi, semakin rendah pula altruisme yang dimiliki relawan bencana alam.

Abstract

Previous research which found that adolescent tend to involve in radicalism make interesting to find out the relationship between identity status and religious tolerance in adolescence. This research involved 157 participants whose ages ranged from 11 to 24 years. The variable of identity status was conceptualized based on Erikson?s exploration and commitment aspects, and was measured using Ego Identity Process Questionnaire (EIPQ). Meanwhile, religious tolerance was measured using a rating scale adapted from van der Walt?s religious tolerance scale. This study found negative relationship between commitment and religious tolerance, and there is no a relationship between exploration and religious tolerance. From four identity status tested, it is found that most participants are in the category of identity diffusion which means that most participants have no specific commitment and interest in ideology. The result also shows that identity moratorium has the highest mean in religious tolerance, and it is found significantly different with identity achievement and identity foreclosure. Based on the commitment aspect, participants with achievement and foreclosure identity status tend to be religiously intolerance, while those with identity moratorium are found most open to the others? worldviews.Keywords: Identity status, religious tolerance, adolescentAbstrak: Adanya survei yang menunjukkan besarnya kecenderungan remaja untuk melakukan tindakan radikalisme melandasi dilakukannya penelitian ini yang bertujuan untuk melihat korelasi antara status identitas dan toleransi beragama pada remaja. Responden pada penelitian ini sebanyak 157 remaja dengan rentang usia 11-24 tahun, yang dimasukkan dalam 4 kategori status identitas. Status identitas diukur dengan menggunakan dua kriteria utama pembentukan identitas dari Erikson, yaitu exploration dan commitment, serta diukur menggunakan skala Ego Identity Process Questionnaire (EIPQ). Toleransi beragama diukur menggunakan skala toleransi agama yang diadaptasi dari skala yang disusun van der Walt. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan negatif antara dimensi komitmen dengan toleransi beragama, sedangkan dimensi eksplorasi dengan toleransi beragama tidak terbukti berhubungan.  Hasil uji terhadap 4 kategori status identitas menunjukkan bahwa  sebagian besar partisipan berada dalam kategori identitas diffusion yang berarti tidak memiliki komitmen ideologis. Selain itu, identity moratorium memiliki rerata yang paling tinggi dalam toleransi beragama dan berbeda signifikan dengan identity achievement dan identity foreclosure. Berdasarkan pada tingginya dimensi komitmen dan karakteristik masing-masing kategori status identitas, identity achieve-ment dan identity foreclosure merupakan kategori yang memiliki kecenderungan untuk bersikap intoleran, sedangkan identity moratorium masih memiliki keterbukaan terhadap perbedaan agama atau ideologi.

Abstract

Indonesia is among countries that are vulnerable to natural disasters. Volunteer is someone who has a desire to help others without expecting reward or known as altruism (Myers, 1999). If you see the volunteers, which is expected of individuals who have the capacity to survive even in a difficult situation in a state of disaster. Capacity is referred to as resilience (Maddi & Khoshaba, 2005). Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between altruism with resilience. Participants in this study were 100 volunteers who are members of an Non Government Organization (NGO). Methods of data collection use a scale of resilience and altruism. By using a quantitative approach and the concept of descriptive correlation study Pearson product moment correlation, the result showed that there is a positive and significant correlation between resilience and altruism (r = .448, p < .01) of volunteer. This is means that the higher the resilience, the higher the altruism, vice versa, the lower the resilience, the lower the altruism that is owned by a natural disaster volunteer.

Abstract

Fire incidents which have caused wounds and burns may negatively affected for psychological aspect of the victims. A part of physical damages they experienced, the accident may cause lost of family members whom they love, that lead them to live orphanage as they do not have family as well as home and have to face tough conditions and pressures in their lives. Patients with burns who are able to develop resilience capabality can adjust them-selves to adapt well, and even managed to become a better individual. The aim of this research is to know the resilience capability and the factors affecting resilience in adolescence with burns that live in orphanage. This research used qualitative approach with interview and observation in one respondent.This research shows description about that resilience capability in teenager that having burns who live in the orphanage and its risk and protective factors.
