Abstract

Based on the initial survey from the results of interviews at the Ananda Primary Clinic of the 8 EFA respondents, 5 among them were women who experienced vaginal discharge with odor-itchy complaints, and there was a burning sensation in the vaginal area. The mother said not to do Vulva Hygiene and use family planning. While 3 of them said they did not have vaginal discharge, the mother also said that they did Vulva Hygiene and did not use family planning. The research objective was to determine the relationship between Vulva Hygiene and Family Planning Use and vaginal discharge in women of childbearing age couples (PUS). This type of research is an analytical survey, with a cross-sectional approach, the population in this study were all women of as many as 38 people, where samples were taken using an accidental sampling technique. The data collection technique is carried out by using primary data obtained from questionnaire data which is directly examined by the researcher. The results of the research-tested using the chi-square result obtained Vulva Hygiene with p-value (0.011) < (0.05) and use of family planning with p-value (0.001) < (0.05). The conclusion in this study is that there is a relationship between Vulva Hygiene and Family Planning Use and Leucorrhoea in Women of Fertile Age Couples (PUS) at Klinik Hj. Nani AM.keb Labuhanbatu. It is recommended that health workers provide accurate information to patients on how to do Vulva Hygiene properly and correctly.

Abstract

Safe and clean delivery is a pillar of safe motherhood. One of the causes of maternal and newborn mortality is an infection, which can actually be prevented through the implementation of infection prevention. Based on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), maternal mortality is set at 103 per 100,000 births which are caused by 35% of deaths due to infection in childbirth during the puerperium and the lack of examinations during pregnancy performed by pregnant women. This study aims to determine the factors related to the behavior of midwives in preventing infection when delivering delivery assistance at the Rantauprapat Hospital in 2019. The study population was all 120 midwives who worked at Rantau prapat Hospital and the sample was 86 people with simple random sampling. sampling, data collection is done primarily by using a questionnaire, and the data that has been processed is analyzed by univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis. The results showed that there was a relationship between the level of knowledge (p = 0.036), attitude (p = 0.033), length of work (p = 0.039), motivation (p = 0.000) and availability of tools (p = 0.000) with the prevention of infection while helping childbirth. The results of the multivariate analysis showed that the motivation of the midwife (p = 0.000) was very dominant about the prevention of infection during delivery assistance. For midwives, awareness is needed to increase infection prevention knowledge and skills by established procedures by following training related to prevention. infection during childbirth assistance.

Abstract

Skin aging caused by oxidative stress that leads to the formation of wrinkles, pigmentation, and asteatosis. On the other hand, the elastase enzyme also can influence the elasticity of the skin that leads to sagging. Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera Lamk) has been reported contain some active compounds like flavonoid that has antioxidant and anti-aging potential. This study was presented to determine the potential of moringa leaves extract (MLE) in scavenging DPPH radicals and inhibiting the elastase enzyme. MLE was obtained by using maceration methods. The potential of MLE in scavenging DPPH radicals and inhibiting elastase enzyme was determined using spectrophotometric methods. MLE has IC50 value of DPPH scavenging activity also elastase inhibitory activity at 109.67 + 0.83 µg/mL and 159.67 + 7.95 µg/mL. MLE has antioxidant and anti-aging potential as indicated by DPPH scavenging activity and elastase inhibitory. However, MLE has moderate DPPH scavenging activity and low elastase inhibitory activity.

Abstract

Propionibacterium acnes is a gram-positive bacteria and consists of the Propionibacteriaceae family. Propionibacterium acnes is a bacteria that causes acne or acne vulgaris, a disease that is quite disturbing and gets the attention that occurs in adolescents and young adults. This research aimed to compare and determine the effectiveness of the extract of yam (Pachyrizus arosus) and green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) in inhibiting the growth of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The research variables were concentrations of yam extract (Pachyrizus arosus) 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) 1,5%, 3%, 5%, 7,5%. The results showed that there was an inhibiting zone against the growth of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria.

Abstract

Chronic renal failure or late-stage renal disease is a progressive and irreversible disorder of renal function (the body fails in maintaining metabolism and balance of fluids and electrolytes), thereby causing uremia (retention of urea and other nitrogen waste in the blood). Treatment of kidney failure disease can be done by pharmacological and non-pharmacological means. Non-pharmacological treatment can be in the form of the provision of instrumental music. This study aims to find out the influence of instrumental music on quality of life in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at the Royal Prima Hospital Medan. This type of research is pre-experimental research with a one-group pre-post-test design with the provision of instrumental music for 20 minutes. The population is 66 people and sampled as many as 20 people with accidental sampling techniques. The analysis used in using Wilcoxon test. Based on the calculation of the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, obtained Z= - 3,938 with (p=0.000) < 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is an instrumental music influence on the quality of life in chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at Royal Prima Medan Hospital in 2018. It is recommended that instrumental music can be applied as an alternative therapy to improve the quality of life.
