Abstract

Building a nation’s characteris not merely a government task. It is also the responsibility of teachers, parents and the whole society to play the role. These three elements have a significant role in building up a person’s character  from his/her early ages until he/she becomes a grown-up person. In the era of virtual reality and digital environment, building a child’s character has become even more important. One of many ways to build up nationalism among children is by popularizing folk tales in order to avoid the loss of the spirit of nationalism and culture that containsnational and traditional values. Libraries as information resources have a large potential and an important role in the building of a nation’s character and the development of nationalism among children in early stages. The National Library of Indonesia with publishers, Indonesia Film Institution and digital animation studios can work together in collaboration to build a center for digital animation film collection as a form of  implementation of the I 990 Deposit Act in order to make it more useful and efficient.

Abstract

Data libraries have been widely known in Europe and America. The fact that these libraries have been optimized for upporting research makes it significant for Indonesia to initiate the development data libraries. However, Indonesian language literature on this specific type of library is still very limited. Although some of data library aspects have been considerably implemented, the author has not found any data library exist in Indonesia. Therefore, this paper is aimed at defining a representative data library by looking at the University of Toronto Map and Digital Library, as one of data libraries, and observing its facilities. The author will attempt to make a basic observation and description in regard. It is expected that the results will be useful as a reference for developing data libraries in Indonesia.

Abstract

Paper fragility has always been aproblem for libraries and archives. Along with the development of science, efforts have been done in order to preserve paper-based materials in libraries. One of certain ways in preserving such materials is by reducing the acid level of paper known as deacidification. Deacidifcation process is done by combining certain chemicals which is the applied to paper through sprays or submersion. The method can be carried outfor separated sheets or pages or bulk documents without having to detach pages from  binding. The latter is known as mass deacidifcation. By conducting a mass eacidifcation, attempts to save  library materials can be done comprehensively to allow the materials to bepreserved for the next  1OO or 500 years.

Abstract

To play an active role in increasing  the contribution  of knowledge  management  to society, a research on oil and gas needs access towell reputed scientific journal resources. However such resources are still difficult to find.  This condition has forced  researchers to find their own way in searching for information  they need. In order to support the research activities and reduce financial dependence, a disclosure on the availability of open access journals  has been done by evaluating a scientific journal reference namely the Scientific  Contribution Oil and Gas of 2010-2014. A descriptive study is used to find  out type of access, characteristics and data base. The results show that there are 492 articles used by researchers as their primary  reference. Most of these articles are accessible online and more than a half have open visibility. Morover; Scopus articles that are accessible for free  reach almost a half of the total population.  Open access journals  are likely to befound in database with .net domain and five years recentness. However, there are only few open access with DOI. The study also shows that articles written in Indonesian language are bigger in number than English articles. Open access journal articles are mostly made available by collaboration. Malaysia has shown its consistency in making the articles completely free.  Research  Gate as an alternative source plays  a potential  role in providing  Scopus­ reputable open access article. Moreover, researchers' awareness in making their own articles free for access through their affiliated database is believed to be one iffactors that will reduce the dependence on journal  subscriptions.

Abstract

Indonesia National Standard (SNI) is a list of standards approved by the National Standard Board (BSN). SNI are distributed by BSN through certain ways such as the BSN official website. SNI can also be distributed  to Technical Committee secretariats in ministries/institutions to be used relevantly by stakeholders. The other way of distribution is through Non-Tax National Income (PNPB) procedure. By using this procedure, applicants have topay for a certain amount of fee in turn for reproduction process. This study is aimed at observing demands of SNI. From stakeholders made through PNBP procedure during 2012 to 2015. The result shows that there are considerably high number of demands for old SNI made by stakeholders.

Abstract

This study is inspired by the change in the concept of the traditional library space to a modern facility. The concept of definition in this study is aimed at explaining how library users mark and define spaces within Diponegoro University Economy and Business Faculty Library. This new ethnography method is used to obtain a comprehensive description by conducting a critical analysis of users' defining practice toward the spaces provided in the library. Data is collected by observing participants, interviews and literature review. There are four informants chosen purposively. The result shows that the library is defined as a comfortable place for using the Internet, spending free times, a place for intellectuals. The result is therefore usedfor  constn1cting the identity of users with modern lifestyles.

Abstract

The Digital Rice Field Implementation plan in Banyuwangi Regency East Java is one of current breakthroughs to pursue food security in the area. This study is aimed at finding out the readiness of farmers in Persen Tegaldino area of Banyuwangi Regencyas the users of Digital Rice Field information. Data is collected by conducting a survey to 100 farmer respondents in Persen Tegaldino. The result of this study shows that Internet literacy among farmers in the area is extremely low, indicated by the finding that 82% of the farmers cannot use the Internet. Looking at this condition, it is suggested that the government run courses and trainings for farmers in the area to use the Internet.
