Abstract

This research is aim to understanding the level of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library in implementing knowledge management. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive. This research is a population research, because it engages all of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Librarians as the respondents. Total of the respondents are 21 librarians.To collect the data the researcher uses the questionnaire, and also uses the nonparticipant observation, interviews, and the documentation to understand deeper abou the research object. Likert scale is used to measure the data, the researcher uses mean and grand mean formulas to analyze the data. The result of the research shows that the level of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library in implementing knowledge management is high. But, from the this research also understood that there is an indicator need to be increased because the score is lower than the mean, it is “learning” indicator.One of interesting phenomena is about the librarians education background. The librarians which graduated from non library and information science (LIS) could implement knowledge management better than the librarians which graduated from LIS.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana tingkat implementasi manajemen pengetahuan yang dilakukan oleh pustakawan di Perpustakaan UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh pustakawan di Perpustakaan UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian populasi karena jumlah populasinya hanya 21 orang. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Untuk mengetahui lebih dalam kondisi di lapangan digunakan juga observasi nonpartisipatif, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Pengukuran data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan skala likert. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini merupaan analisis deskriptif, yaitu menggunakan mean dan grand mean. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: Impementasi manajemen pengetahuan di Perpustakaan UIN Sunan Kalijaga masuk dalam tingkat yang tinggi.Dari hasil penelitian ada beberapa indikator yang perlu ditingkatkan, yaitu indikator yang mem- peroleh skor di bawah rata-rata yaitu indikator learning. Salah satu temuan yang menarik adalah tingkat implementasi manajemen pengetahuan pustakawan yang berlatar belakang pendidikan formal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi (IPI) justru lebih rendah daripada pustakawan yang bukan berlatar belakang pendidikan formal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi (IPI).

Abstract

Pentingnya komunikasi dalam perpustakaan antara pustakawan dan pemustaka mengharuskan pustakawan menguasai elemen-elemen komunikasi, yang salah satunya adalah komunikasi nonverbal. Komunikasi nonverbal menjadi salah satu indikator untuk mengukur penerimaan dalam proses komunikasi efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur sejauh mana penerimaan pemustaka dalam proses komunikasi dengan pustakawan STIKes Guna Bangsa Yogyakarta melalui bahasa tubuh yang diperlihatkan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif. Yang menjadi populasi adalah seluruh pemustaka perpustakaan STIKes Guna Bangsa Yogyakarta, sedangkan penentuan sampel menggunakan teknik purposif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 90 responden, yang diambil 30 responden dari masing-masing prodi (Ilmu Kebidanan, Ilmu Keperawatan dan Analis Kesehatan). Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah kuisioner dengan indikator: intonasi suara, ekspresi wajah, kontak mata, gerakan mendekat, gerakan menyentuh, dan penampilan yang berjumlah 14 butir pernyataan. Analisis data menggunakan rumus mean dan grand mean. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setiap indikator mendapatkan nilai: intonasi suara 3.43 (sangat baik), ekspresi wajah 3.41 (sangat baik), kontak mata 3.13 (baik), gerakan mendekat 3.20 (baik), gerakan menyentuh 2.83 (baik), penampilan 3.12 (baik). Dari rincian tersebut diketahui bahwa penilaian pemustaka terhadap bahasa tubuh pustakawan sebagai isyarat penerimaan dalam proses komunikasi efektif di perpustakaan STIKes Guna Bangsa Yogyakarta masuk dalam katagori baik. Pernyataan tersebut dibuktikan dengan grand mean dengan skor 3.19 (baik)ABSTRACTThe importance of the communication between the librarians and the users requires the librarians master in communication techniques, one of them is nonverbal communication. It can be used to measure the effectiveness of communication. This research purposes to evaluate the acceptance of the users with the librarian’s communication style by observe the librarian’s body language. This is a quantitative descriptive research. The respondents are users of STIKes Guna Bangsa Library which is the high school on health wih 3 study program (Nurse, Midwifery, Health Analysis). The respondents consist of 30 students from each study programs, and total of them are 90 respondents. To collect the data, the researcher uses questionnaire with the indicators are: voice intonation, face expression, eye contact, drew near, touch, and performance which is consist of 14 statements. To analyze the data, the researcher use mean and grand mean formula. The result of the research show that voice intonation got 3.43 (excellent), face expression got 3.41 (excellent), eye contact got 3.13 (good), drew near got 3.20 (good), touch got 2.83 (good), and performance got 3.12 (good). From that fact could be conclude that the acceptance of the users with the librarian’s communication style by observe the librarian’s body language was good, proofed by score of grand mean, 3.19.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of the Library Science student’s awareness at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta to prevent spreading fake news from the internet. This was carried out by identifying fake news with indicators by the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA). This research is a quantitative descriptive study. The data were obtained through questionnaires, interviews, and non-participative observation. The grand mean was used to conclude the data from the collected questionnaires. The results showed that the students' awareness of fake news was included in the high category, with a score of 3.77 from grades 1 to 5. Students of Library Science at UIN Sunan Kalijaga had the willingness and ability to recognize hoaxes on the internet, including 1) willingness to ask experts, 2) ability to understand news contexts, 3) willingness to check the sources of the news, 4) ability to read between the lines, 5) willingness to avoid prejudice (being neutral), 6) willingness to check the news production time (date), 7 ) willingness to examine news writers, and 8) willingness to examine supporting sources for news production. Students should implement critical thinking as the main skill for identifying fake news. Information literacy education can be used as a way to get their critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the proper online lecture practice during the pandemic Covid-19 in the Department of Library Science of UIN Sunan Kalijaga. This study uses a mixed-method approach (quantitative and qualitative). 92 students as the respondents filled out online questionnaires about their proper online learning. Not only filling in a quantitative questionnaire, these respondents were also given to provide reasons for each filled answer. Online learning in the Department of Library Science of UIN Sunan Kalijaga has been conducted since March 2020. The implementation uses different applications for each lecturer. Some of the most widely used applications are Whatsapp, Google Classroom, eLearning UIN Sunan Kalijaga, online meeting applications such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Webex, Youtube, and podcast applications such as Anchor and Spotify. Evaluation of online learning using the principle of inclusiveness is necessary.

Abstract

People now have easy access to information on the internet, but people find it difficult to find valid information. Librarians in academic environments have a huge task in helping users receive the correct information. Several university academic libraries in Indonesia and the Philippines play a role in providing insight into false information. This study aimed to describe the information literacy program in several university libraries in Indonesia and the Philippines, selected purposively. The research method used descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques using questionnaires sent to six libraries from two countries. Based on the study results, six libraries from two countries fought fake news by validating information and checking trusted sources from the academic community. Libraries included the Information Literacy Program in lectures to practice critical thinking skills, used information responsibly, disseminated and preserved information, primarily through social media. Academic libraries applied various strategies and methods to teach information literacy to students through fun and engaging lectures, seminars, workshops, and interactive games. Libraries establish communication with librarians, students, lecturers, and universities. Indonesian and Philippine academic libraries effectively use the Information Literacy Program to educate, protect against access and dissemination of false information. The study results can be used as additional literature in information literacy in both ASEAN countries and the movement to eradicate fake news worldwide.

Abstract

Academic library contributes much to the realization of the three pillars of higher education, which are education, research, and social services. During pandemic, university library has to keep contributing to the development of education even when learning-teaching activities are virtually conducted. This research is aimed at identifying sorts of service developed by UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta library during the pandemic and at exploring the users’ responses to them by using ServQual approach to evaluate three aspects of innovative services, namely the services being developed, the service supporting facility, and the human resources. This research uses a qualitative method. The data were collected through interviews with 17 qualified informants and documentation. The study showed that the library has made some innovative services to satisfy the users’ needs, particularly the students who were doing their last assignments. The users have benefited much from the innovative services and declared their satisfaction. In term of facility, the library is completed with facilities and infrastructure that are in line with the health protocols. The library also used social media, like WhatsApp and Instagram, to support its services. In addition, the librarians have significantly helped the users access the services.

Abstract

Data libraries have been widely known in Europe and America. The fact that these libraries have been optimized for upporting research makes it significant for Indonesia to initiate the development data libraries. However, Indonesian language literature on this specific type of library is still very limited. Although some of data library aspects have been considerably implemented, the author has not found any data library exist in Indonesia. Therefore, this paper is aimed at defining a representative data library by looking at the University of Toronto Map and Digital Library, as one of data libraries, and observing its facilities. The author will attempt to make a basic observation and description in regard. It is expected that the results will be useful as a reference for developing data libraries in Indonesia.

Abstract

OPAC as an information retrieval system is an important thing to meet the users and the information needed, so it need to be evaluated. This study is compare two OPAC (They are: UI and NUS Library). It is observed to understanding its features and performances, then analysis it quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of this study is aims to evaluate the two OPACs and to describes how the ideal OPAC for the users is.

Abstract

Perpustakaan sebagai sebuah organisasi tidak lepas dari berbagai kegiatan. Dilaksanakannya kegiatan-kegiatan tersebut berimplikasi pada bertambahnya jumlah dokumen, sehingga perpustakaan menemukan permasalahan mengenai pengelolaan dokumen. Sebagai salah satu perpustakaan akademik di Yogyakarta, Perpustakaan STIKes Guna Bangsa juga mengalami persoalan tersebut. Keterbatasan jumlah pustakawan, yang hanya terdiri dari dua pustakawan mengharuskan mereka untuk mengimplementasikan manajemen pengetahuan untuk mengelola dokumen-dokumen tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti menjadi instrumen dalam penelitian ini. Adapun metode pengumpulan datanya adalah wawancara dan observasi. Kedua pustakawan STIKes Guna Bangsa menjadi informan dalam penelitian ini dan peneliti juga melakukan Focus Group Discussion untuk menemukan kesepahaman. Metode analisis datanya meliputi: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Temuan dalam penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa implementasi manajemen pengetahuan berimbas pada meningkatnya kompetensi pustakawan dalam mengelola dokumen. Sejak proses penciptaan pengetahuan dalam siklus pengelolaan dokumen, diperlukan adanya integrasi pengetahuan dengan proses sharing antarperpustakaan, dan adanya standard operating procedure (SOP) yang terlahir karena proses tersebut. Dua hal yang menjadi catatan dalam hal ini adalah minimnya SDM serta minimnya infrastruktur. Keduanya menjadi tantangan atas kegiatan implementasi manajemen pengetahuan.
