Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of many teenagers who tend to behave in bullying, such as chiding, hitting, spitting, throwing, calling names with labels, threatening, and frightening. Bullying behavior is a negative behavior that is thought to be one of the contributing factors is low self control. This study aims to reveal the relationship of self-control with the tendency of bullying behavior of students. This research is a descriptive and correlational type of research with quantitative methods. The sample in this study were 256 students consisting of classes VII, VIII and IX. The data collection instrument was a self-control questionnaire with a tendency for bullying behavior in students using the Likert scale. The data is processed using Pearson product moment formula with the Statical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) program version 20.0. The results of this study reveal that there is a relationship of self-control with the tendency of bullying behavior of students, high or low self-control will affect the tendency of bullying behavior. Based on the findings of this study, it is expected that the BK counselor or counselor can provide assistance and services in the form of guidance and counseling services.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that there are still students who do not know the adverse effects of drugs, there are still students who say good drugs, there are students who approach the characteristics of drug abuse seen from the physical, some students still smoke both in the school environment and the surrounding environment, still some are bored because it is not interesting to listen to information on drug abuse, and the provision of counseling services by BK teachers about drugs is still lacking by students. This study aims to describe students' perceptions of drug abuse and its implications in BK services. This research is a type of descriptive research using quantitative methods. The population of this study was students of class XI and XII of SMA Negeri 1 Batipuh, Tanah Datar District, totaling 515 people. A total of 225 people were selected using the Proportional Random Sampling technique. The instrument used was a questionnaire for students' perceptions of drug abuse using a Likert scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. General research findings show that students' perceptions of drug abuse are good (78.67%). Based on the aspect of cognition in the good category (78.22%), students' perceptions based on the affection aspect were in the good category (47.11%) and perceptions based on the konasi aspect were in the good category (77.33%). Based on the research  findings, it is suggested to the school counselor / school counselor to be able to provide guidance and counseling services in the form of information services, and group guidance services so that students are able to have good perceptions and increase students' insight on drug abuse.

Abstract

Based on the phenomenon that researchers can field when conducting interviews with some BK teachers and students found that there are students who play truant, arriving late was due to parents lacking in the formation of discipline so as to make children negligent in school. This study aims to: (1) describe how parental authoritarian parenting in shaping child discipline, (2) describe how parental democratic parenting in shaping child discipline, (3) describe how parental permissive parenting in shaping child discipline.This research is a quantitative descriptive type of research. The total population of 546 and a sample of 124 students were selected using the Simple Random Sampling technique. The data collection tool used was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using statistical techniques, namely percentage formulations.The results revealed that (1) parental authoritarian parenting in shaping child discipline in SMP Negeri 13 Padang was in the very high category, (2) democratic parenting was in the high category, (3) permissive parenting was in the very high category. (4) based on the three types of parenting, the more dominant applied in shaping the discipline of children in SMP Negeri 13 Padang is permossive with a percentage of 73.21%. Based on the research findings, it is suggested to (1) parents are expected to be able to apply appropriate parenting in shaping the discipline of children, (2) furthermore BK teachers are expected to establish good communication with parents and work together in applying proper parenting to children.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon such as employees who are less supportive among fellow employees, employees who are less concerned and less supportive among fellow employees, employees who distinguish positions in interacting and discussing in the office environment, employees who are not serious about hearing other employees in speaking and there are employees who do not respect the opinions of their friends. One of the causes of low employee job satisfaction is allegedly due to lack of interpersonal communication skills. This study aims to examine the relationship between interpersonal communication skills with employee job satisfaction. This type of research is a correlational descriptive study with quantitative methods. Subjects in this study were 38 employees of the Tanah Datar district social service. Collected using a scale questionnaire to measure interpersonal communication variables and job satisfaction variables. Data were processed using the Pearson Product Moment formula with the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) program version 20.0. There is a low relationship between interpersonal communication with job satisfaction.

Abstract

Pornographic behavior is an act where a person witnesses, reads, or hears and talks about a sexual material explicitly, thus causing sexual desire and passion. This study aims to (1) describe pornographic behavior in students at Sungai Geringging 1 High School (2) describe the Cognitive Behavior Modification (CBM) approach to reduce pornographic behavior (3) test the effectiveness of the Cognitive Behavior Modification approach effectively reducing pornographic behavior. This research uses quantitative methods with the type of pre-experimental research with the research design of the one goup pretest posttest design. The research subjects were 10 students of SMAN 1 Sungai Geringging class XI IIS 1. The data collection tool used was a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques used Wilcoxon signed range test design data analysis. The results showed that the Cognitive Behavior Modification approach was effective in reducing pornographic behavior in students with 71.4% pretest results in the high category and 41.1% in the posttest in the low category. This study gives meaning that the Cognitive Behavior Modification approach is able to reduce pornographic behavior in students, for that teachers guidance and counseling need to apply this approach in implementing counseling services.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe male students’s career decision making, (2) describe female students’s career decision making, and (3) examine differences in career decision making of Senior High School’s student by gender. This study uses a comparative descriptive analysis. The  population in this study were all students of class X, XI, and XII SMA and the amount of samples was 134 students taken using census techniques (non probability sampling). This study uses two data analysis techniques, descriptive analysis and different tests. Descriptive analysis is using the percentage formula. While differences analysis uses the independent samples t test formula and the calculation is assisted by using the SPSS version 20 for windows. The result of the study showed (1) the level of career decision making for male students are in good category, (2) the level of career decision making for female students are in good category, and (3) there was significant difference in career decision making of students’s career decision making base on gender with a correlation coeficient of 0,736 and a significance level of 0,021.

Abstract

The research was based on the condition of the teenagers in orphanages that lived without parent. They will surely encounter various obstacles and difficulties in dayli life. Then to handle these teenagers needed an ability called resilience. The purpose of this research is to describe the resilience of teenagers in Orphanage’s Shine Al-Falah Padang. The sampel in this research is 74 teenagers. The result of research showed that teenagers in orphan resilience by all aspect was in the high category. Teenagers orphan resilience seen from the aspect of emotion regulation, optimism, self-efficacy and reaching out was in the high category. And then, teenagers orphan resilience seen from the aspect impulsive control, causal analysis, and empati was in the medium category.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the many employees who complain becouse of the demands of the work they live. Problems that arise in the work environment have a profound effect on employees. Complaints in the form of physical  disorders are often experienced by employees. There are also employees who choose to stop working after working for less than one month, due to heavy workload. Job satisfaction is an individual’s way of feeling his work resulting from the individual’s attitude toward various aspects contained in the job. One factor that affects job satisfaction is job stress. This research is a descriptive correlational type of research with quantitative methods. As for the subjects in this study were all employees of the Auto 2000 Service field at Laweh in Banu Hampu sub-district, Bukittinggi, which amounted to 12 employees. The research instrument used was a job stress questionnaire and a job satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistical techniques and Pearson Product Moment techniques with the help of the SPSS For Windows 20.0 program. The results revealed that (1) employee job stress was in the low category, (2) employee job satisfaction was in the high category and (3) there was a significant negative relationship between job stress and employee job satisfaction with a correlation coefficient of -0,635 which was at the significance level 0.027. Based on the research findings, it is suggested to counselors to be able to provide several service areas in the industrial business world such as job placement, job adjustments, job satisfaction, job transfer and other problem alleviation, in order to help to alleviate job stress and increase employee job satisfaction in the company.

Abstract

The students need to havebehavioral autonomyin deciding their career. However, There are some students who lack behavioral autonomyindeciding the career. This study was aimed at describing the studentsbehavioral autonomyin deciding their career in terms of (1) havingthe ability of decision making. (2) having power over the influence of others, and (3) having self-confidence. This research uses a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The population of this research is Students of Class XI of SMKN 9 Padang amounted of 389 students andthe sampleis 197 students taken by using purposive sampling. The instrument used is a questionnaire. The data obtained are analyzed by using a percentage technique. The findings of this study are (1) The students' independence of class XI of SMKN 9 Padang in deciding their career in terms of having the ability to make decisions is in the independent category, (2) the students' independence of class XI of SMKN 9 Padang in making decision of career in terms of having the power to influence others is in the independent category, and (3) the student tsautonomy of Class XI of SMKN 9 Padang inmakingdecision of career in terms of having self-confidence is in the independent category. Thus, it can be concluded that commonly the students' independence of  Class XI of SMKN 9 Padang in making decision of career  is categorized independent.

Abstract

Mass media is a tool used in delivering messages from sources to the public (recipients) using mechanical communication tools such as newspapers, films, radio and television. Aggression behavior in the educational environment lately occurs a lot in the elementary school environment. One reason is the exposure of mass media that display violence. Students who often watch television shows on television can cause a tendency for aggression to emerge. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between watching violent acts in the mass media with the aggressive behavior of school students. based on the results indicated by a significant number of 0.014 which means that less than 5% or the relationship between watching acts of violence in the mass media with aggressive behavior of students there is a significant or significant relationship that is equal to 18%. If an equation is made, namely Y = 164,303 + 0.597 X it means that if given treatment is improved watching violence in the mass media by 1 unit there will be an increase in the aggressive behavior of students by 0.597 units.
