Abstract

This study aims to study the decline of seeds using a saturated salt solution and to regulate the moisture of the storage space. This research was conducted by Plant Science Laboratory, Gadjah Mada University. Materials and tools used in this research are soybean seed, NaBr salt, NaCl and aquades. Tools used include tub germination, measuring cups, pumpkin glasses, petridis and gauze. Trial using 3x3 Factorial Design compiled in Completely Randomized Design with 4 replications. Factor I is a water content consisting of 2 levels, namely: a) Water content of seeds 9%, b) Water content of 13% seed. Factor II is a relative humidity (RH) of storage space comprising 2 levels: a) Saturated NaBr salt solution (80%), b) Saturated NaCl salt solution (40-50%). Observations observed were seed sprouts once per week seeds expressed in percent, seedling growth (seed height, fresh weight of seedlings, dry weight of seed, stem diameter and number of leaves). The results showed that the percentage of seedlings or seedlings in the 80% and 45% moisture content of the soilmoisture content of 9% with two weeks of storage duration, while the humidity 80% and 45% with the water content of 13% The lowest in two weeks storage time. However, with four weeks storage showed reduced seed viability at both 80% and 45% moisture and 13% and 9% water content. The result of the analysis showed that the height of the seedlings, the number of leaves, the fresh weight and the dry weight on the control significantly influenced all treatment based on the t-test.Keywords: Detioration, long save, seed viability, soybean

Abstract

Red jabon (Anthocephalus macrophyllus Roxb. Havil) includes in the familyRubiaceae. This plant has many advantages. This plant is also widely cultivate in plantations industry and plantations community forest today. Moduza procris is a new pests that attacks jabon leaves. The leaf are consumed from the edge and leave the venation. This study aimedto observe biology aspects of M. procris on red jabon. The result showed that life cycle of M. procris was about 25.3 days (larvae stadium was 17.2 days, and pupae 8.1 days). M. proris has 5 instars larvae. The average body size of M. procris was at eggs stadium was 1.32 mm. Size of the larvaes were 7.20, 9.70, 15.60, 24.20 dan 33.90 mm respectively, while the head of larvae were 0.91, 1.92, 2.91, 3.91, and 4.91 mm. Width and length of female pupae was 9.63 mm and 29.63 mm, male pupae was 27.50 mm and 8.00 mm. The body length of adult female was 20.50 mm and male was 16.50 mm, while the wings span of adult female was 67.25 mm and males was 55.00 mm.                  Keywords: Anthocephalus macrophyllus, Lepidoptera, life cycle, Moduza procris

Abstract

Dieback disease on white jabon seedlings is caused by Botryodiplodia theobromaedecreased seedlings quality, economic benefits of nurseries, and seedling death. There is no research for resistance of white jabon to pathogen attacked. This research aimed to study the biochemical resistance of white jabon to B. theobromae attacked. The biochemical resistance was done with studying the chemical compound of white jabon seedlings’ stem used phytochemistry analysis. The results showed that the biochemical resistance before pathogen attacked for white jabon seedlings were found alkaloids, flavonoid, phenol hydroquinone,tannin, saponins, and steroids. After pathogen attacked, the biochemical resistance of white jabon seedlings had the increase in the content of flavonoid, tannin, saponins, triterpenoid and steroids. Abstract

This research aims to knows the influence the types of organic fertilizer towards the  growth and yield some varieties of sweet corn, as well as the interaction between the types of organic fertilizer with varieties of sweet corn. This research was carried out in April to July 2016 at the Experimental Farm Agriculture Faculty of Syiah Kuala University Banda Aceh. Research design used was Random Design Group Factorial pattern of 4 x 3 with 3 replicates. Factors that researched the types of organic fertilizer consisting of 4 levels, namely: without the use of fertilizer, manure, compost and mycorrhiza. The factor varieties consisting of 3 levels, namely varieties of Bonanza, varieties of Jambore and varieties of Sweet Boy. The results showed that use of mycorrhiza growth and yield of sweet corn plants are better, whereas varieties of Sweet Boy is a better variety. The next better interactions present in these types of mycorrhiza with use of organic fertilizer varieties of Sweet Boy on a high percentage of the crop parameters age 30 days after planting (DAP), number of leaves the age of 15, 30, and 45 (DAP) and potential outcomes. The real effect on plant height parameters age 45 HST, the length of the cob without bractea, the heavy cob with bractea each plants, and infection of mycorrhiza on plant roots.Keywords : Compost, manure, mycorrhiza, organic fertilizer, sweet corn, varieties

Abstract

The use of shells ash as an ameliorant could raise the pH, reduce degradation of nutrients and can supply nutrients in the peat soil. The shells ash were composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), which amounted to 53.05% CaCO3, Na at 0.08%, P 0.05%, 0.05% Mg, Fe 0.02%, Cu 16.36% , 15.76% Zn and 0.1% Si. This study aims to determine the response of mustad plants in peatlands with granting of shell clams ash. This research was conducted at the Experimental Farm Faculty of Agriculture, University of Teuku Umar, Meulaboh, Aceh Barat in April to June 2016. The research design used was a randomized block design (RAK)3 x 5 factorial design with three replications, ie varieties factor with 3 levels (V1 = Tosakan, V2 = Dora and V3 = Takana 801 and dose shells with 5 levels (D0 = 0 ton ha-1, D1 = 2 ton ha-1, D2 = 4 t ha-1, D3 = 6 ton ha-1 and D4 = 8 ton ha-1). There is no interaction between the dose of shells ash and varieties of all the observed variables, but the best dose of shellsash was 2 ton ha-1 and the best varieties was Tosakan. Abstract

Tea productivity influenced by technical culture, soil, climate conditions and planting material. Nursery is an initial stage of cultivation. The purpose of the nursery is to prepare quality planting material for rejuvenation and new plantings. To get quality seedling, needs good media and able to support early growth. Utilizing the waste from the tea processing plant in the form of tea leaves that are not eligible if to be fermented into organic fertilizer is then applied to the seedling tea. The results showed that seedling growth trend is increasing, the higher the plant the more the number of leaves that are formed and there is a positive linear relationship between plant height and number of leaves and leaf greenness. The results of the soil analysis showed that the availability of nutrients organic C, N, K and C/N ratio with moderate status, while the P content is very high.Keywords: organic matter, tea nursery, tea ocsidation

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of mycorrhizal fungi types on the growth and  yield of red pepper plants (Capsicum annum L.). This research used non factorial Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 3 replications. The factor studied is the factor of mycorrhizal, which consists of 4 levels, namely: Without Mycorrhizal, Mycorrhiza Glomus sp., MikorizaGigaspora sp., Mixture Mikoriza Glomus sp. and Gigaspora sp. The parameters studied were nutrient uptake of N and P, fresh and dry weight of vegetative and generative phases, root biomass (fresh and dry) vegetative and generative phases, yield potentials per plant, vegetative and generative root phase roots, and mycorrhiza infection rates (%). The results of this study indicate that the type of mycorrhizal fungi. The type of mycorrhizal fungi has a very significant effect on the fresh and dry weighted weights, the fresh and dry root weight and the vegetative root phase length, and have no significant effect on N and P nutrient uptake, fresh and dry root weight, root length, yield potential/plant and mycorrhizal infection. The best type of mycorrhizal fungi for growth and yield of red pepper plants is Gigaspora sp.Keywords: Biomass, Glomus sp., Gigaspora sp.

Abstract

Mangrove litters like leaves, branches and fruit will partly sunk under its own weight and blown by the currents of the ocean when sink back again to normal. Litter is carried away a current of who will be the organic matter and capable of being increases the production of litter yielded become an important factor in the transfer of hara of its vegetation those mangrove trees into the ground. This study aims to in order to understand the the production of mangrove litter in the area of those mangrove trees in Aceh Jaya. This research is right beside the road explorative and descriptive. The determination of the study locations is based on a method of purposive the sampling method of that has been assumed represent the regions of this research. The research results show the production of litter hutan mangrove in the remote and sparsely populated Rigaih of environmental friendly of the district of Aceh Jaya as much as 9.85 tons on higher demand for/ than one hectare in size/years. The type of whichdominant who gives hara of the largest memorials in hutan mangrove this is Rhizophora stylosa with the volume of production as much as litter 5.27 tons on higher demand for/than one hectare in size/years or about 53%. The parameter of the physical environment of to exert an influence upon the production of litter hutan mangrove in the area of environmentallyfriendly Aceh Jaya district. Abstract

Abundance and diversity of parasitoids is strongly associated with the presence of pests and vegetation around cucumber plantings. This study aims to determine the abundance and diversity of parasitoid species in cucumber plantings. The research was conducted at four cucumber planting locations in Bogor, West Java. Insect sampling is done using yellow pantraps and malaise traps. The results show the highest species abundance obtained at the Cibatok of 632 individuals and the lowest in Cibanteng 197 individuals. The highest Shannon-Wiener index value at Cangkurawuk is 4.2927 and the evenness of species is 0.92. The high abundance of individuals is not always accompanied by the higher value of diversity and evenness too.Keywords: abundance, cucumber, diversity, parasitoid

Abstract

This research aimed to know the effect of organic fertilizer dose and number of seed per hole towards growth of rice and real or no interaction of both factors. This research used split plot experimental design 4 x 3 with 3 replication. The first factor of this research is dose of organic fertilizer as main plot consist of 0, 5, 10 and 15 ton/ha. And the second factor is number of seed per hole as subplot, consist of 1, 2 and 3 per hole. This research was conducted at Lhok Rameuan village, Suka Makmue districts, Nagan Raya regency of Aceh Province on Juny until December 2016. The result showed that dose of organik fertilizer influenced significantly on high of plant and number of tillers in 3 weeks after plant. Significant effect on high of plant in 2 and 4 weeks after plant and number of tiller on 4 weeks after plant, but not significant on number of seed on age 2 weeks after plant. Number of plant per hole influenced significantly effect on high of plant an number of tillers on age 2 and 3 weeks after plant, but not significant on high an number of tiller on 4 weeks after plant. Statistical analysis showed no interaction occured between both factors treated on all observation variabels./
