Abstract

This study examines strategies for implementing halal certification for MSMEs in Doloksanggul, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra, where Muslims are a minority. Halal certification is vital for catering to Muslim consumers, but its adoption is low—only 0.5% of 288 culinary businesses are certified. Challenges include perceptions of unnecessary certification, limited information, and a lack of awareness about its economic benefits. Despite some government outreach improving awareness, more consistent education and collaboration are needed. The study recommends strategies that consider local cultural dynamics and emphasize enhancing infrastructure, access, and training to boost MSME competitiveness and market reach. Public interest statement: This study is significant for MSMEs in Doloksanggul as it raises awareness about halal certification in areas with minority Muslim populations. It enhances competitiveness, draws in Muslim customers, and offers suggestions for successful government initiatives, ultimately aiding local economic development and community well-being around the Lake Toba tourism area.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of distribution channels and menu variety on sales growth in a halal food bread store. Utilizing an associative quantitative approach and a total sampling technique, 70 active resellers were selected as respondents. Data was collected through a questionnaire, and the results were analyzed using SPSS 25 with multiple linear regression. The findings of the study indicate that both menu variety and distribution methods significantly and positively influence sales growth to a certain extent. These results highlight the importance of integrated marketing strategies that combine expanding distribution and menu innovation to enhance competitiveness and foster business growth. This research is intended to serve as a reference for developing marketing strategies for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the food sector. Public Interest Statement: This study is highly relevant for society, especially MSMEs in the food sector. Understanding the influence of distribution channels and menu variety on sales can help MSMEs optimise marketing strategies, improve efficiency and innovation, support local economic growth, enhance competitiveness, and provide consumers with more diverse and higher-quality products.

Abstract

This study examines how the government maintains green sukuk credibility through POJK 18/2023, the SDGs Government Securities Framework, and the alignment of issuance and reporting with Sharia principles. A qualitative-descriptive approach was applied, using data from interviews, observations, and document analysis. Findings reveal that while sustainable finance regulations and frameworks exist, gaps remain in ensuring transparency and the use of objective indicators. There is also a lack of standardized Sharia guidelines concerning substantive compliance, resulting in a formalistic focus on akad. OJK and Sharia Supervisory Boards (DPS) should strengthen oversight during issuance and post-issuance, particularly in reviewing the prospectus and impact reports. This study emphasizes the need for stricter sanctions, transparency on the methods of project selection and impact reporting, and the integration of al-Ḍarar Yuzāl and Maṣlaḥah principles to ensure green sukuk are not only legal but also ethical and impactful. Public interest statements This study explores how government regulations and Sharia (Islamic law) principles are used to maintain the credibility of green sukuk. It also highlights concerns about greenwashing, where projects claim to be “green” without real impact. The findings call for stronger oversight, penalties, clear reporting standards, and ethical guidelines to ensure that public funds contribute to meaningful environmental and social impact. This research matters because it connects the concept of sharia with sustainability in ways that impact the development of sustainable financing in Indonesia.

The results of the analysis show that public services and transparency have a positive and significant influence on public perceptions. Meanwhile, community participation and accountability do not show a significant impact. This research model explains most of the variation in public perception. The Sharia approach reinforces ethical and fairness aspects in government administration. This study recommends improving the quality of public services and transparency as key factors in enhancing public perception and building the City of Medan's government legitimacy sustainably. Public interest statements This research is important to improve governance in Medan City through enhanced public services and transparency, by Sharia principles, in order to increase public trust and welfare fairly and sustainably.

Abstract

Digital transformation is pushing retail businesses to adapt their marketing strategies through social media. This study analyzes the integration of social media by SMB MMTC and identifies the opportunities and challenges faced. Using a qualitative case study approach, data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation at the supermarket located in Medan City. The results show that Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook play a strategic role in expanding market reach, increasing engagement, and strengthening local branding. Challenges include limited human resources, algorithm changes, restricted promotional budgets, and a lack of data-driven evaluation. From an Islamic economic perspective, business practices align with Sharia principles, including transparency, honesty, and freedom from usury and uncertainty. This study concludes that social media functions as both a promotional tool and an interactive platform, with the success of transformation determined by internal readiness, content innovation, and support from a sustainable digital ecosystem. Public Interest Statement: This research is important for the public because it provides insights into how local retail businesses, such as SMB MMTC, can effectively utilize social media to expand their market, increase interaction with consumers, and implement marketing strategies that are in line with Islamic economic principles in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Generation Z's preferences in choosing financial risk management strategies, with a focus on comparing the use of emergency funds and Islamic insurance. Generation Z, known for their adaptability to technology and information, faces complex financial challenges amidst global economic uncertainty. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were obtained from in-depth interviews with a number of Generation Z respondents in urban areas. The results show that although the majority of respondents understand the importance of emergency funds as a form of short-term protection, there is increasing interest in Islamic insurance as an alternative that is considered more systematic and in line with religious values. The main factors influencing this preference include the level of financial literacy, trust in Islamic financial institutions, and perceptions of long-term benefits. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more relevant financial education strategies for the younger generation. In Press, Journal Pre-proof.
