Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe organizational communication and analyze image formation at the Wali Nagari Talang Babungo Office using qualitative research methods within the constructivist paradigm and analyzing it through the lens of Organizational Control theory. The study reveals that organizational communication within the Talang Babungo mayor's office encompasses both internal and external interactions. Internally, communication processes are continuous and are facilitated by the use of digital technology. Externally, communication occurs during service delivery and community engagement activities, involving both community members and nagari officials who actively participate in various events and sustainable development initiatives in Nagari Talang Babungo. Efforts to shape the organizational image are evident through the implementation of work processes, service delivery, and development initiatives. These efforts contribute to the positive perception of the Wali Nagari Talang Babungo Office within the community, enhancing its reputation and fostering trust among stakeholders.

Abstract

Good communication within an organization will create a harmonious work atmosphere and create work enthusiasm that encourages increased performance of organizational members. On the other hand, leadership factors can influence and move individuals in the organization to achieve maximum performance. This research aims to describe the organizational communication climate, leadership style and employee performance as well as to determine the relationship between the organizational communication climate and leadership style on the performance of employees of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious  Affairs  Religious Affairs, both partially and simultaneously. This research is quantitative research with a data collection instrument using a questionnaire distributed to 58 respondents, namely employees of the Ministry of  Religious Affairs using the Stratified Random Sampling method. Processing of research data was carried out with the help of the SPSS program, with data analysis using R correlation analysis and multiple correlation. Based on the data description test, the implementation of communication climate is at 89%, leadership style is at 75.4%, while employee performance is at 85.3%. Meanwhile, the results of the R correlation analysis test on Communication Climate on Employee Performance showed that the correlation coefficient value Rcount ≥ Rtable was 0.399≥0.218 and a significant value of 0.0020.05, which means there is a low relationship between Organizational Communication Climate and Employee Performance. The correlation analysis value of R Leadership Style on Employee Performance obtained a coefficient value of Rcount ≥ Rtable, namely 0.471≥0.218 and a significant value of 0.0000.05, which means there is a moderate relationship between Leadership Style and Employee Performance. The results of the multiple correlation analysis test have a moderate correlation of 0.563 and a significant value of 0.0000.05, which means that there is a positive and significant relationship between organizational communication climate and leadership style on employee performance at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in West Sumatera.

Abstract

A significant surge of interest in skincare occurred due to growing awareness of maintaining skin health and beauty. This indicates a change in skincare as a necessity which contains complexity behind it. This study aims to unveil the involvement of various elements that produce and continuously encourage consumerism lifestyles among Javanese Gen-Z women using Herbert Marcuse's theory of one-dimensional man, alongside the concept of beauty discourse. This study uses qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. This study shows that the development of consumerism lifestyle is influenced by the entire experience in consuming skincare. This includes the internalization of beauty discourse, the existence of financial strategies in the consumption process until the establishment of repressive tolerance which determines consumers’ integration into the capitalist’s repressively established system. Therefore, the degree of consumerism lifestyle determines consumers into certain dimensions, such as one-dimensional, semi-one-dimensional, and multi-dimensional consumers which gradually indicates a lower consumerism lifestyle.

Abstract

The museum is an institution that preserves historical objects for conservation and preservation purposes. The Museum Daerah Deli Serdang plays a role in preserving historical relics, one of which is the legacy of the Serdang Sultanate. This study aims to examine how the Museum Daerah Deli Serdang preserves the historical heritage of the Serdang Sultanate. The research employs a qualitative approach and descriptive method by conducting direct observation of the research object and documenting the findings as they occur at the research site. The results obtained from this study indicate that the museum's role can be described as an institution that collects, records, preserves, and conserves cultural heritage objects. The Museum Daerah Deli Serdang role in preserving the legacy of the Serdang Sultanate involves various activities such as acquiring collections, participating in events organized by the Serdang Sultanate family, and organizing public events such as museum learning sessions, collection reviews, and others. To preserve the legacy of the Serdang Sultanate, the Museum undertakes conservation efforts including maintenance, protection, restoration, development, and utilization.

Abstract

This research discusses the impact of bullying on the social environment of school-aged children with a focus on psychosocial, academic and interaction aspects in cyberspace. Delving into the dynamics of bullying, this research provides an in-depth understanding of how this phenomenon affects children's development. The method used in this research is quantitative with descriptive research type. The findings highlight the relevance of this research in the context of modern education, children's mental well-being, and the challenges of the digital world. Additionally, this research provides a foundation for the development of more effective bullying prevention and intervention strategies at the school level. By summarizing the impact of bullying on the social environment of school-age children, this research encourages collaboration between schools, parents, and the community to create an educational environment that is safe, inclusive, and supports children's positive development.

Abstract

This research aims to develop learning video products based on Project-based Learning and to determine the learning interest of class VII students at SMP IT Adzkia Babalan in social studies learning about economic activities. This type of research is RD with the ADDIE development model which consists of 5 stages, namely: 1) Analysis; 2) Design; 3) Development; 4) Implementation; and 5) Evaluation.  The subjects in this research were 25 students in class VII of SMP IT Adzkia Babalan.  From the validation results of several experts, the results of the material expert validation test were 86.67% and were included in the very feasible category.  The media expert validation results were 89.3% and were in the very feasible category. The learning expert validation results were 76% and were in the feasible category. The increase in interest in learning was shown through data analysis from field trials carried out using a Likert scale and a result of 76.3% was obtained.  Thus, Project-based Learning videos are suitable for use as learning media in the social studies’ subject material for class VII on topic economic activities.

Abstract

The tradition of tedhak siten holds great significance within Javanese culture, symbolizing a baby's journey from birth. This ritual not only celebrates the baby's arrival and well-being but also serves as a means to protect against seizures. Embedded within the tradition are profound social and cultural values, which are meticulously upheld in Penggalangan Village, Tebing Syahbandar, Serdang Bedagai, renowned for its preservation of this custom. This study meticulously documents the intricate tedhak siten process alongside the social and cultural values ingrained within the community of Penggalangan Village. The primary objective of this research is to comprehensively understand both the ritual itself and the values it embodies. Employing a methodological approach that encompasses interviews, field observations, and extensive literature review, the study delves into the various stages of the tedhak siten procession. These include stepping on 7-colored jenang, ascending a rattan ladder, entering a chicken coop, selecting a cherished object, gathering coins, undergoing a scented water bath, and donning new attire. Among the values reflected throughout the tradition are self-assurance, magnanimity, the preservation of familial dignity, and industriousness.

This study delves into Medan's multifaceted multicultural life, encompassing its historical narrative, economic dynamism, and globalization's repercussions. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach grounded in literature, the research underscores Medan's historical significance as a cosmopolitan and metropolitan center, shaped by international trade and Dutch colonialism. The city's diverse populace, including Batak, Malay, Javanese, and Chinese communities, enriches its cultural tapestry, evolving continually. Economic dynamics illuminate how ethnic diversity fuels Medan's prosperity, fostering unique social bonds amidst trade and industry. Amidst globalization's onslaught, Medan navigates technological shifts, communication advancements, and human mobility changes, confronting both challenges and opportunities. Understanding Medan's multicultural life necessitates grappling with these global dynamics. This research sheds light on Medan's resilience and adaptability in the face of rapid globalization, offering insights into the intricate interplay between tradition and modernity in this vibrant city.

Abstract

Food is a problem in human survival. This research discusses the food security of the Mentawai people who use sago as a staple food. This research uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach where researchers and informants live together for a certain period of time to get a good report so that the data collected truly represents the problems being faced. Sago as the staple food of the Mentawai people determines social practices in that community. The representation of the use of sago is reflected in daily activities in the Mentawai people's traditional house, known as uma.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the role of Tourism and Sports Department of Pelalawan Regency (specially tourism sector) in developing Bono as tourist attraction. This descriptive analytical research used both primary and secondary data sources with observation as data collection technique. The result showed the role of Tourism and Sports Department of Pelalawan Regency (specially tourism sector) in developing Bono has been implemented optimally. Out of four indicators (Regulator, Dynamist, Facilitators and Catalysts), Regulator as the only indicator has been fully implemented. Meanwhile on Facilitator, it has been implemented, however there has many obstacles, such as lack of facilities and infrastructure. Thus, this indicator is only carried out under certain conditions. Furthermore, Kampung Bono and Pantai Ogis are given less attention and underused in creating the well-being of the local community, local and foreign tourists.
