Abstract

This research aimed to (1) analyzes the process of self-acceptance of seminarian with non-genetic physical disabilities and (2) analyze the aspects that influence self-acceptance. In this research, a phenomenological study was utilized. the Phenomenological study is qualitative research. It is a type of research whose purpose is to seek depth and to gain a detailed understanding of the phenomena being researched. The main concept of phenomenology is meaning. Meaning refers to the essential content that arises from the experience of human consciousness. This happens because the study of phenomenology is a philosophical approach to investigate human experiences. The data gathering was done by using a semi-structural interview. Also besides, the data were analyzed by using data reduction coding. To measure the validity of this research, the researcher used the triangulation technique where the researcher did interviews with several parties related to the subject, such as the informant's close friend and sibling.          The result of this research showed that the process of self-acceptance informant Luis was heavily influenced by the spiritual life, the ability to think realistically, self-perception, the openness in telling the chronology of the disabilities, and the social support from other seminarians in the community and the sibling. Other than that, the attitude of responding to other people's criticism made informant Luis realized that he needed to undergo more processes in controlling emotions. Criticism and other people's opinions can affect one's self-acceptance.

Abstract

Trauma masa kanak-kanak merupakan suatu pengalaman tidak menyenangkan yang dialami anak-anak, yang dapat berdampak jangka panjang dan muncul dalam bentuk perilaku-perilaku atau stres berlebihan di masa remaja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dampak psikologis yang muncul di masa remaja, yang mengalami trauma pada masa kanak-kanak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah mixed methods. Subjek penelitian adalah 40 mahasiswa yang menjalani sesi konseling di sebuah unit konseling perguruan tinggi di Yogyakarta. Data diambil dari database unit konseling yang ditulis dalam kurun waktu Januari – Desember 2020. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kekerasan fisik dan seksual adalah peristiwa traumatis yang paling banyak dialami yaitu masing-masing sebesar 27,5 %. Peristiwa traumatik berikutnya adalah kekerasan emosional (22,5%). Peristiwa traumatik yang dialami memiliki dampak yang beragam. Dari ragam dampak yang muncul, dampak yang paling banyak dikeluhkan adalah kecemasan, ketidakmampuan dalam mengendalikan diri, mudah beremosi negatif, masalah dalam berelasi dengan keluarga, serta gangguan tidur. Dampak yang perlu menjadi perhatian prioritas dan segera adalah self harm, suicidal, dan agresivitas.

Abstract

This research is started from field data in which phenomena in Adisutjipto Flight Vocational High School Yogyakarta have caught the researcher’s attention. The phenomena are expulsion from school, school truancy, grade retention. Therefore, this research aims to find out the relationship between learning discipline and learning achievements.    This research was quantitative research using a correlational approach. The research subject was 192 students of the eleventh grade of Adisutjipto Flight Vocational High School Yogyakarta of the academic year of 2020/2021. The research data collection used was a questionnaire with two types of the instrument of data collection namely Learning Discipline Scale and Test of 15 courses in the form of multiple choice. The research data analysis technique was correlated using the Pearson product-moment formula.The research result shows that there is a correlation between learning discipline and learning achievements with a correlation value of 0.234. In addition, this result indicates an accepted hypothesis. Even though the correlation is low, it still has a relationship between learning discipline and learning achievements of eleventh-grade students of Adisutjipto Flight Vocational High School Yogyakarta of the academic year of 2020/2021. The analysis technique used was a correlation of Pearson product-moment.

Abstract

This research aims to describe 1) parents’ knowledge about their deaf children; 2) parents’ obstacles in dealing with their deaf children; 3) forms of parents’ supports for their deaf children; 4) a process of parents’ supports for their deaf children; 5) parties involved in giving supports for deaf children.This research was qualitative research with a case study approach. The research data source was a parent whose child is deaf in a private School for Exceptional Children (SLB) in Jakarta. The data collection technique was conducted through interviews. The data analysis techniques used were data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification.  The research shows the following results. 1) Parents’ knowledge about their deaf children is children with hearing impairments speaking not fluently. Their knowledge increases when they take their children to an ENT specialist. Deaf children have different levels of severity, need hearing aid, and use minimal vocabularies. 2) Parents’ obstacles in dealing with their deaf children in which their children are difficult to communicate, be controlled during tantrum, and being often lazy to study or go to school. 3) Parents’ supports in the form of providing speaking training, giving love and enthusiasm, entrusting children to school dormitories to practice independence, giving rewards for their achievement, and involving children in competitions to develop their passions. 4) The process of parents’ supports for their deaf children is by trying to persuading their children when they are tired of studying or going to school and trying to meet all their children’s needs. 5) Parties involved in giving supports for deaf children are father, older siblings, and homeroom teachers
