The master plan of research of Sam Ratulangi University is to produce human resources based on research culture which can run the national industrial system and infrastructure development of science, technology, art and culture, social science and humanity. In objective to actualize that master plan of research, The Institution of Research and Community Service of Sam Ratulangi University (or Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Universitas Sam Ratulangi) publishes The Studies of Social Sciences. The Studies of Social Sciences starts since 2019 and publishes articles for twice a year both written in Indonesian and English. The Studies of Social Sciences welcome for contributions of academicians and practitioners. The articles which submitted to The Studies of Social Sciences are never been published or under review to other publishers.

Abstract

This activity aims to enable the community in Meras Bunaken Village, Manado City, who are partners in this project, to provide their own hand sanitizer (HS), and at the same time as an effort to manage their organic waste. To increase the community’s understanding of eco-enzymes, the teams introduced eco-enzyme which is a liquid fermentation of organic garbage and its various benefits. The methods used in this activity are through lectures and discussions, workshop, mentoring and monitoring. The results of these activities showed that there was an increase in knowledge from the community about eco-enzymes. Initially, almost all partner members who participated in the activity did not know what eco-enzymes was and how it was made. After the lectures and workshop, the posttest result showed that there was an increase in the knowledge and skills of partner members regarding the benefit of eco-enzymes and how to make them.Keywords: Eco-enzymes; hand sanitizer; organic garbageAbstrakKegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan agar kelompok masyarakat di Kelurahan Meras Bunaken Kota Manado yang menjadi mitra kegiatan ini dapat menyediakan hand sanitizer (HS) sendiri, dan sekaligus sebagai upaya pengelolaan sampah organik masyarakat. Untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang eco-enzim, tim memperkenalkan cairan eco-enzim yang merupakan cairan hasil fermentasi sampah organik dan berbagai manfaatnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah melalui ceramah dan diskusi, pelatihan, pendampingan dan monitoring. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan dari masyarakat tentang eco-enzim. Awalnya hampir semua anggota mitra yang mengikuti kegiatan tidak mengetahui apa itu eco-enzim dan bagaimana cara pembuatannya. Setelah sosialisasi dan pelatihan, dari hasil posttest menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota mitra mengenai manfaat eco-enzim dan cara pembuatannya.Kata kunci: Eco-enzim; hand sanitizer; sampah organik

Abstract

Sea Mitra Village is one of the villages located in Pineleng District, Minahasa Regency. The results of observations show that in the yards of the houses of the people of Sea Mitra Village, many Moringa trees are found which are limited to being used as barriers to the yard of the house. In order to develop public knowledge about the efficacy of herbal plants and the development of family economic businesses, community empowerment activities were carried out in the form of training in making Moringa leaf tea. This training uses the method of discussion and demonstration plot (demplot). The results of the training showed that the participants really understood the content and efficacy of Moringa leaves for health because of the 20 participants, 95% very understanding of the material provided, and 5% quite understood the material provided. In addition, the participants understood the making of Moringa leaf tea. This was obtained through observations by the facilitator on the enthusiasm and work results of the participants. Hasil observasi menunjukan bahwa di pekarang-pekarang rumah dari masyarakat Desa Sea Mitra banyak ditemui pohon kelor yang terbatas dijadikan pembatas halalaman rumah. Guna mengembangkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang khasiat tanaman herbal serta pengembangan usaha ekonomi keluarga maka dilaksanakanlah kegiatan pemberdayaan msyarakat berupa pelatihan pembuatan teh daun kelor. Pelatihan ini menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi dan demonstrasi plot (demplot). Hasil pelatihan menunjukan bahwa para peserta sangat memahami kandungan dan khasiat dari daun kelor untuk kesehatan karena dari 20 peserta terdapat 95% sangat memahami materi yang diberikan, serta 5% cukup memahami materi yang diberikan. Disamping itu, para peserta memahami pembuatan teh daun kelor. Hal ini diperoleh melalui pengamatan oleh fasilitator terhadap antusiasme dan hasil kerja dari peserta.Kata kunci: teh daun kelor; pemberdayaan keluarga; masyarakat desa
