Abstract

Soursop leaf contains various secondary metabolites with several functions such as antioxidant, antibacterial, and immune-stimulant. Supplementation of soursop leaf extract on fish pellet might become immune-stimulant which decreases the mortality of giant gourami seeds. The aims of this study were to obtain ethanol extract of soursop leaf and utilize the extract as immune-stimulant on fish pellet.  Leaf extraction was performed using explorative survey, while biological test was done using completely randomized design. Ethanol absolute was used as a solvent during extraction with the ratio between soursop mill and ethanol was 1:10. Pelarut yang digunakan untuk ekstraksi adalah ethanol absolute dengan perbandingan 1:10 (daun sirsak: etanol). Two treatments were done during biological tests, those was pellet with 0.5% of soursop extract supplementation and pellet without extract supplementation. The treatments were repeated for five times. Giant gourami seeds from both treatments were infected by 0.2 mL of A. hydrophila with cell concentration of 10-8 CFU. The seeds were reared and their survival and mortality were counted. The result of the extraction was analyzed descriptively, whereas survival and mortality were analyzed using t-test. The extraction of 700 g soursop mill results in 125 g of extracts.  The gourami seeds fed by commercial pellet with extract supplementation had 96% survival and 4% mortality. Nevertheless, gourami seeds fed by commercial pellet without extract supplementation was only has 8% survival and 92% mortality. The t-test proved that soursop extract supplementation on commercial pellet was able to increase fish survival and decrease the mortality. Therefore, ethanol extract of soursop leaf can be used as immune-stimulant on giant gourami seeds.

Abstract

Intensive Care Units (ICUs) is an installation that held health care in the patient's clinical circumstances requiring immediate medical action to saving lives and preventing further disability, complications and mortality. 24 hours services, highly demanding tasks to support urgent therapeutic intervention, highly possibility complications, poor patients outcomes make high workload of nurses in ICUs. The objective of the study is to measure ICU nurses workload and analysis based in nurses characteristics in RS X. NASA-TLX method used to measure the workload. Based on research, the level of nurses workload in RS X are have high and very high workload. The dimension ranking of the workload from the highest to the lowest is the Temporal Demand (62), Frustration (63), Mental Demands (65), Physical Demands (69.667), Effort (76.67) and Performance (80.667).

Abstract

The prototype of a permanent magnet generator using eight double stator coils has been successfully constructed.  This paper focuses on the prove of the double coil existences and the effect iron core addition to the coil in increasing the output potentials.  The equipment resulted in this work is expected to be able to enrich the experiment of electricity and magnetism in the Physics study program at the undergraduate level. The results show that the addition of iron core on the coil causes an increase in output potential, i.e., from 2.5 Volts without iron core to 8.3 Volts with the iron core.  Further, the tests by combining the four coils also resulted in an increase of output potentials from 10 Volts to 30 volts, in the case of without and with iron cores. Furthermore, the incorporation of eight coils in the front and rear double stator also increase the output voltage from 20 Volts without iron cores to 61.3 Volts with iron cores.

Abstract

Waterbath adalah media yang digunakan untuk melakukan kalibrasi pada termometer batang. Rancang bangun yang dilakukan untuk membuat waterbath yang sesuai untuk kalibrasi termometer batang. Waterbath dengan pengontrol suhu dinamis sangat baik karena menghasilkan suhu yang relatif stabil pada suhu yang diinginkan pada proses pengukuran kalibrasi. Hasil pengukuran kesetabilan suhu dari waterbath yang dibuat mempunyai nilai variasi total media sebesar 0.2oC dan mempunyai tingkat homogenitas 0.06 oC  diukur pada suhu 300C  hingga 800C.

Abstract

Occupational safety and health in the laboratory becomes very important considering the laboratory has a high risk of accident. Assessment of the risk of accidents in the laboratory  cover  many components, such as chemicals, equipment, supporting factors and users. With a high level of risk, the application of occupational safety and health needs to be monitored and assessed. The purpose of this study was to analyze the safety and health of the laboratory in biology based on the check list of safety and health reference. The method used is descriptive in the form of questionnaires with data analysis using categories based on normative values that is x ≥ 67.5 category is very good, 45 ≤ x <67.5 good category, 22.5 ≤ x <45 category good enough and x ≤ 22 , 5 categories are not good. The conclusion of the research is occupational safety and health in the biology laboratory included in the good category with the average score 57.28. This shows that based on the reference matrix of safety and health check list in the laboratory consisting of laboratory layout, office, personal protective equipment, hygiene, emergency tool, chemicals, glassware and electricity have been done well.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang pembuatan edible film dan karakteristik edible film telah dilakukan dengan mencampurkan umbi ganyong, lidah buaya, gliserol dan ekstrak kunyit. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan ekstrak kunyit terhadap sifat mekanik edible film dan pengaruhnya terhadap masa simpan dari buah tomat. Tahapan yang dilakukan untuk mengetahui sifat mekanik edible film yaitu dengan uji ketebalan, kuat tarik, elongasi, modulus young, dan laju transmisi uap air (WVTR) sedangkan untuk mengetahui masa simpan dari buah tomat dilakukan uji susut bobot dan uji tekstur. Variasi ekstrak kunyit yang ditambahkan ke dalam larutan edible film yaitu 0,5; 0,75; dan 1% (b/b total). Hasil sifat mekanik edible film terbaik kemudian diaplikasikan terhadap buah tomat. Penambahan ekstrak kunyit dengan hasil uji sifat mekanik terbaik yaitu 0,75% (b/b). Penambahan ekstrak kunyit mempengaruhi sifat mekanik dari edible film yaitu ketebalan edible film meningkat dari 0,03 menjadi 0,067mm, kuat tarik menurun dari 11,89 menjadi 8,19 Mpa, penurunan nilai elongasi dari 12,71 menjadi 7,95%, modulus young meningkat dari 0,94 menjadi 1,03 Mpa dan nilai WVTR mengalami kenaikan dari 7,45 menjadi 9 g/m2jam. Pemanjangan masa simpan buah tomat dapat ditinjau dari 50% penyusutan bobot buah tomat, perubahan masa simpan buah tomat yang tidak dilapisi edible film (kontrol) yaitu 45 hari menjadi 48 hari (buah tomat  dilapisi edible film tanpa ekstrak) dan buah tomat yang dilapisi edible film dengan penambahan ekstrak yaitu 60 hari. Sedangkan apabila ditinjau dari  prosentase penurunan tekstur 63%, masa simpan buah tomat dari 7 hari menjadi 7,5 hari (pelapisan edible film tanpa ekstrak) dan 186 hari (pelapisan edible film dengan penambahan ekstrak).
