Abstract

Objectives of the research were: (1) To study the process of making mol from fresh ingredients; and (2) To determine the effect of mol resulted on the making of elephant grass Bokashi.Research conducted on 12 February 2015 up to 16 April 2015 in the OECF Building of the Faculty of Agriculture, Mulawarman University. It included: preparation, making of mol from water hyacinth, making of elephant grass Bokashi and data collection. The research results revealed that: (1) The effect of different moles solution provided different success of elephant grass bokashi due to different fresh material used by each group; and (2) The results when sorted from the best to the worst were fish waste, papaya peels, banana peels, pineapple peels, cabbage waste, water hyacinth, and lamtoro.

Abstract

Starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) can serve as an acidifier which can improve digestive enzymes work, suppress the growth of pathogenic microbes, protecting feed from microbial and fungal attack and to improve the palatability of feed. The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of starfruit in the ration on the performance (feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion), the weight of carcass parts, fatty meats, and income over feed cost. The study used 80 chicks two weeks old village with a complete randomized block design experiment method. The treatment consisted of control diet (P0), and three levels of addition of starfruit (P1 = 0.5%; P2 = 1%; and P3 = 1.5%). Each treatment was repeated 5 times. Rations and water were given adlibitum. The trial period lasts for 30 days. Test performed to determine differences in Duncan. The results showed the addition of up to 5% starfruit into the ration does not affect the performance of chicken and chicken carcass weight parts. The highest value of income over feed cost was achieved by treatment with the addition of 0.5% ration starfruit juice.

Abstract

One type of fruit typical of Kutai who now also started rare is Rutai bananas. Rutai Bananas that having small size is very well liked, besides the smell also taste sweet with a high vitamin content.Small fruit shape of Rutai bananas was fit to be an appetizer at the restaurant or diner. There is even a plan to make Rutai banana as an appetizer that must be in Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the symptoms and signs of disease caused by specific pathogens in Rutai banana plants and fungi potentially pathogenic on it.The experiment was conducted in people's gardens banana growing areas in Muara Badak Rutai Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, by calculating the frequency and intensity of attacks pathogens on Rutai banana plants. Identification of pathogens carried out at the Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty of Agriculture, University of Widyagama. This study is expected to be a reference to know the symptoms, signs of the disease in Rutai banana plants; Increasing community participation to preserve rare plants; Support government programs to preserve rare plants either fruit or trees. Help disseminate to public about the benefits of eating Rutai banana especially for health.

Abstract

The aims of this research were to know the effect of fermented Azolla dosage and mulch types on the growth and yield of leeks, and the optimum dosage of fermented Azolla to the yield. This experiment was conducted from August to September 2013, at Jalan Panjaitan, Temindung Permai, Samarinda Utara. The experiment design was Randomized Blok Design (RBD) and three replication. The first factor was fermented bokashi dosage wich consisted of four levels 0, 4, 8, 12 Mg ha-1. The second factor was mulch types without mulch, plastic mulch, and rice straw mulch. The result of the research showed that treatment of fermented Azolla concentration were not significant difference from the average of plant height addition, the average of number of leaves, the average number of the average of fresh weight per plot, but significant difference from the average of fresh weight per hectare and the dry weight. The best dosage that produced the highest fresh weight (2.938 Mg ha-1) was 12 Mg ha-1 fermented Azolla. The mulch types treatment was not significant difference from the average of plant height addition the average number of leaves at 15 Days After Planting (DAP) and the average number of tillers per clumps. Significant difference from the average number of leaf 30, 45 Days After Planting (DAP), and at harvest times, the average of fresh weight per plant, the average of fresh weight per plot, the average of fresh weight per hectare and the average of dry weight per plant. The best mulch that produced the highest folsh weight (3.069 Mg ha-1) was rice straw mulch. According to analysis of variance showed that interaction between fermented Azolla dosage and mulch types was not significant difference from all variables was observed.
