Abstract

The abundance of livestock and agricultural waste needs special attention, especially in its processing. One of the largest wastes generated from the livestock sub-sector is beef cattle feces; in the agricultural sub-sector, empty fruit bunches are produced (EFB). In this study, beef cattle feces and empty fruit bunches were decomposed for 14 days to degrade organic matter into raw materials for second-generation bioethanol. This study aimed to identify bacteria and molds that play a role in the decomposition of beef cattle feces and EFB. The research conducted used a qualitative-descriptive method. This study identified microorganisms in the biological pre-treatment process on days 1st, 7th, and 14th. The identification of bacteria and molds was done macroscopically and microscopically. The genus of bacteria found in biological pre-treatment is Bacillus. There are 3 genera of molds found in biological pre-treatment including Aspergillus, Trichoderma, and Mucor. These genera have cellulotic and lignolytic potential in fiber degradation in biological pre-treatment.

Abstract

Tanaman jagung merupakan komoditas utama di lahan kering di Kabupaten Malang bagian Selatan. Namun demikian produksi jagung masih rendah karena kondisi tanah yang kurang subur akibat rendahnya kandungan bahan organik. Permasalahan kesuburan tanah di lahan kering dapat diatasi dengan penambahan bahan organik ke dalam tanah. Salah satu bahan organik yang dapat digunakan untuk perbaikan kesuburan tanah adalah asam humat yang merupakan produk turunan dari bahan organik. Selain asam humat, bahan organik kualitas tinggi yang terbukti dapat mengatasi permasalahan kesuburan tanah adalah biochar. Tujuan penelitian untuk mempelajari pengaruh asam humat berbagai level dan biochar terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung hitam di lahan kering. Penelitian di rumah kaca Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Tribhuwana Tunggadewi, Malang.  Perlakuan yang diuji coba adalah kombinasi dosis asam humat (0; 2,5; 5; dan 7,5 mL/ha) dan biochar (0 dan 15 t/ha).  Setiap kombinasi perlakuan diaplikasi ke 10 kg tanah dalam polybag untuk pertumbuhan tanaman jagung hitam. Delapan perlakuan disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 3 ulangan. Semua perlakuan diberi pupuk dasar berupa pupuk NPK mutiara.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dosis 7,5 mL asam humat/ha dan biochar merupakan perlakuan terbaik untuk meningkatkan diameter tongkol, panjang tongkol, dan bobot jagung tanpa klobot di lahan kering.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of various types of organic fertilizer on the vegetative growth of dragon fruit. The research used an experiment using the Completely Randomized Design  method with four treatments A1 = Goat Manure, A2 = Cow Manure, A3 = Guano Fertilizer, A4 = Chicken Manure with four replications. The results of the research showed that the application of various kinds of organic fertilizer had a very significant effect on plant height and a significant effect on the number of branches of dragon fruit plants.  Providing organic fertilizer, namely guano fertilizer and chicken manure, can provide higher plant height and a greater number of branches. It is thought that the high content of macro nutrients N, P and K can increase the vegetative growth of dragon fruit plants
