Abstract

This study aims to know the process of making brass bushing to succeed into a product along with the value of violence and roughness. Methods used include evaporative method, CO2 sand mold and method x. This research is done by first preparing tools and materials then done casting process where brass used in melted then cast into casting castings and in chill with well water. Furthermore, the machining process using a lathe with carbide chisel and engine rotation used for 590 RPM. From roughness test result after machining process got value at outside diameter of point A 2,532 μm, point B equal to 2,544 μm, point C equal to 2,673 μm, then diameter in point A equal to 1,539 μm, point B equal to 1,749 μm. For the value of hardness on the method of sand mold CO2 obtained an average value of 42 HRB, evaporative methods of 33.2 HRB and method x obtained an average value of 39.8 HRB. Fromithese results it is known that the hardness of the best bushing in this research is by the method of sand mold CO2 because it has good heat resistance and good mold density.

Abstract

One of the engineering materials is Composite. Composite is a material formed from a combination of two or more matrials that have stronger mechanical properties than the. The composite consists of two parts: a matrix as a binder or a composite protector and a filler as a composite filler. Natural fibers are an alternative filler, and the corn husk fiber (Zea Mays) is one of the many natural fibers grown in the Tanah Laut area of South Kalimantan.From the result of the research, the effect of volume fraction on the composite has the fiber skin fiber which has the highest strength for the impact price that is on the fiber with the volume fraction of 1% 99% fiber polyester corn fiber fiber which has the impact price of 0.0338 joule / mm2. In the highest strength bending test that is on the composite with a fraction of fiber volume of 3% that has a bending power of 3,5775MPa. And in composite tensile test, volume fraction 4% fiber 96% polyester and 5% fiber 95% polyrster have the same value of highest strength that is tensile pull of 1,7991 MPa.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of laban charcoal on the effectiveness of biogas purification & Performance Generator-Set. This research is conducted by biogas flowing from Sanitary Landfill to biogas purification insulator containing adsorption media in the form of charcoal which has been activated physics with temperature variation of 550oC, 650oC and 750oC with 1 hour time, then biogas is stored in storage tube and then tested with biogas to Chamber for the reading of carbon dioxide and methane levels using Gas Analyzer. The result of carbon dioxide 2808,61 ppm and methane 40,51 ppm without purification after purified by using the best adsorption media of laban charcoal was found at 750oC carbon dioxide 2026,55 ppm and methane 53,94 ppm with effectiveness 27,84 %. The highest biogas purification effectiveness is at 750oC. The generator-set test with biogas fuel that has been purified charcoal is activated with a temperature of 750oC. Then it is fed to the storage tube and distributed to the generator-set, taking the data of rotation, temperature, and voltage of each load, the load 0 W, 4445.9 rpm rotation, 113,4oC, and 240 V (Stable), 350 W, 2344,43 rpm, 118,36oC, 150-240 V (Not Stable), 650 W, 2185,26 rpm, 136,73oC, 100-200 V (Not Stable).

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the heat distribution system in three types of fish dryers. The variations of the dryer room were fire-tube type, fire-tube type with bevel, and air-tube type. This study was conducted by simulating airflow and heat transfer that occurred in each dryer room variation by using CFD software. In the simulation, the dryer was heated using an electric heating element with a temperature of 80 °C and the results display hot air flow moving in the drying chamber. In the fire-tube type dryer room obtained average temperature of 46.74OC. In the fire-tube type dryer room with the bevel obtained an average temperature of 44.40OC. While the type of air-tube shows average temperature results of 34.31OC. From the simulation, we known that the fire-tube type has the best heat distribution system.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the performance of steam turbine PT. Indocement Tarjun Plant 12 by comparing the results of data obtained during each performance test in 1999, 2016, 2017, and 2018. This research data is taken from the control room of PT. Indocement Tarjun, variable data obtained in the form of load, main inlet steam temperature, main inlet steam pressure, HP heater feed outlet temperature, HP heater feed outlet pressure, main steam flow, and turbine by pass flow. The data is processed to get the turbine heat rate and the efficiency per time of each performance test and then averaging the data results over time, then comparing the turbine heat rate and the average efficiency of each performance test. The calculation of turbine heat rate using heat & mass balance method, turbine efficiency is obtained by comparing the energy of 1 kW with turbine heat rate and multiplying 100%. The result of the average heat turbine calculation per performance test ie August 1999 is 2.546, April 2016 2,537, June 2017 2.56, and May 2018 2.67. The average value of turbine efficiency in August 1999 was 39.30%, April 2016 39.43%, June 2017 39.07%, May 2018 37.46%. Turbine power plant performance of PT Indocement Tarjun Plant 12 decreased from 1999 to 2018 by 1.84%.

Abstract

Main purpose of this final task is to design a wood cutter machine for channel saw on the wood board and to get the final result like a work sheet and to determine the machine component of the wood cutter until it’s proper to built. This design of the modification wood cutter machine has some concept with some steps like: need, problem analysis and product specification, product concept design, analysis technique, modeling and the work sheet. the next process is build the wood cutter machine that has been planned. The final task result is a design that poured in the work sheet include the framework machine drawing, liner drawing, arm connector drawing, arm knife drawing, pen drawing, pivot transmission drawing, pivot eccentric drawing, circle eccentric drawing, puli and workspace drawing. The wood cutter capacity saw could reach 2 cm thickness. The machine booster resources is an electricity engine with 0.25 HP power. The wood cutter from modification product dimension length x wide x height that 350 x 350 x 910 mm. the machine framework material use an iron steel profile L 30 x 30 x 2 mm material St 42. The transmission pivot made from St 37 with dimension O 15 mm and 300 mm length. The transmission system use belt component V and two pair of Puli 1,5’’ and 3.5’’, work base board use Plywood. The final result of this design and the wood cutter making then will be built adjust the work sheet.

Abstract

The Indonesian state is rich in natural resources, the various benefits of natural resources are useful for human survival. Various kinds of plants in Indonesia are useful as technical material.One of the engineering materials is Composite. Composite is a material formed from a combination of two or more matrials that have stronger mechanical properties than the material forming. The composite consists of two parts: a matrix as a binder or a composite protector and a filler as a composite filler. Natural fiber is an alternative filler, and bemban fiber (Donax Canniformis) is one of the many natural fibers grown in the Hulu Sungai Selatan area of South Kalimantan. From the research result, the influence of volume fraction on composite fiber bemban has the most optimum strength that is on variation 60% fiber bemban 40% Polyester with no alkalization that has absorption energy 13.23 joule and the impact price of 0.067 joule / mm².

Abstract

Wind energi is one of the alternative energi that can be utilized for various purposes to replace the source of fossil fuel energi. The Darrieus wind turbine includes a vertikal axis wind turbine driven by lifting force from the blade. Planning of the axis vertikal type Darrieus wind turbine is aimed to calculate the elements of Darrieus machine and make design of vertikal axis component of Darrieus vertikal turbine using Marzuki (2016) research data about NACA 2415 blend analysis with variation of blade and angle of attack. The planning method used is based on the calculation of construction and vertikal axis of vertikal axis type of wind machine by using field result data in the form of wind speed, altitude and environmental condition which produce calculation result and working drawing of each machine element. The results of planning engine eleman on vertikal axis wind turbine Darrieus with 3 pieces airfoil shaped type NACA 2415 chord 30 cm has a diameter and height of 1 meter. Using ST-42 shaft 17-25 mm in diameter with length 1640 mm retained 2 bearing pieces with numbers 30203 and 6204. Transmission using belt and pulley type with 1: 14 increase ratio. Frame using Lx steel profile size 30x30 with total length ± 15 m. The use of materials such as composites is preferable to reduce turbine load without affecting the strength and durability of the turbine.

Abstract

This study studied the best levels of bioethanol from a combination of cassava peel and pineapple peel mixtures with 6 gram yeast mass and 72 hours, 96 hours and 120 hours fermentation time, to determine the optimal fermentation time and find ethanol levels according to SNI. This research was carried out by hydrolysis or cassava peel and pineapple peel using aquades for 30 minute to break the molecule into two parts, then carried out the fermentation process using Saccharomyces Cerevisae (yeast) and the distillation process using a destilator to obtain ethanol for fermentation then tested with a Refractometer to determine whether there is an ethanol level formed from the distillation process. The best sample selected was then tested for ethanol content using the Gas Chromatography tool. The results of this study are known by using the Gas Chromatography tool to determine the ethanol content contained in the distilled sample, the highest ethanol content of each combination. So that the best ethanol yield from a combination of 100% cassava peel - 0% Pineapple Peel with a duration of 120 hours fermentation producing ethanol of 89.81% is still not included in the SNI category.

Abstract

Wood saws are hand machines that small industries need. Almost all work processes through a saw machine with good results. Circular saws are not only used in timber industry, but also in the carbuery industry, by plumbing, construction experts, loggers or gardenists. In any hobby there are wearing it. For manufacturing process of making wood sawing machine in allotment for wooden pallet craftsman. The formulation of the problem in making this saw machine is how to manufacture wood saw process for wooden pallet craftsman and howmuch budget cost in manufacturing process of saw machine for wooden pallet craftsman. The components of the saw machine are frame, table mat, bearing, shaft, pulley transmission and V belt, while the tools and machinery used in the manufacturing process are electric welding tools, electric grinding wheels, grinding wheels, lathes, and frais machines.
