In this paper, a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller for solar power system is modeled using MATLAB Simulink. The model consists of PV module, buck converter, and MPPT controller. The contribution of the work is in the modeling of buck converter that allowing the input voltage of the converter, i.e. output voltage of PV is changed by varying the duty cycle, so that the maximum power point could be tracked when the environmental changes. The simulation results show that the developed model performs well in tracking the maximum power point (MPP) of the PV module using Perturb and Observe (P&O) Algorithm. To resolve the problem of multi-spectral remote sensing image fusion ?in this paper, we put forward an algorithm based on the wavelet packet and pulse-coupled neural network (PCNN) of remote sensing image fusion .The algorithm will be carried out as follows. Firstly, the TM images will be converted into HIS space, and then the luminance component and the high-resolution image will be broken into multi-scale by wavelet packet. Secondly, according to the frequency domain characteristics of the wavelet packet decomposition, we respectively use a method of weighted average in the low-frequency domain and a method of PCNN in the high frequency domain to select reconstruction coefficient. We can get a fused luminance component by taking inverse wavelet packet transform to be reconstructed. Finally, we can obtain the fusion image by taking inverse HIS transform. The experimental results show that the algorithm can be better to retain the image edge and texture details. Keywords: image fusion; HSI; wavelet packet; pulse coupled neural networks DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i3.617

In this paper, a novel nonlinear model predictive controller (MPC) is proposed based on an identified nonlinear parameter varying (NPV) model. Firstly, an NPV model scheme is present for process identification, which is featured by its nonlinear hybrid Hammerstein model structure and varying model parameters. The hybrid Hammerstein model combines a normalized static artificial neural network with a linear transfer function to identify general nonlinear systems at each fixed working point. Meanwhile, a model interpolating philosophy is utilized to obtain the global model across the whole operation domain. The NPV model considers both the nonlinearity of transition dynamics due to the variation of the working-point and the nonlinear mapping from the input to the output at fixed working points. Moreover, under the new NPV framework, the control action is computed via a multistep linearization method aimed for nonlinear optimization problems. In the proposed scheme, only low cost tests are needed for system identification and the controller can achieve better output performance than MPC methods based on linear parameter varying (LPV) models. Numerical examples validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i3.612

In this paper, we have developed a model of the tunneling currents through a high-k dielectric stack in MOS capacitors with anisotropic masses. The transmittance was numerically calculated by employing a transfer matrix method and including longitudinal-transverse kinetic energy coupling which is represented by an electron phase velocity in the gate. The transmittance was then applied to calculate tunneling currents in TiN/HfSiOxN/SiO2/p-Si MOS capacitors. The calculated results show that as the gate electron velocity increases, the transmittance decreases and therefore the tunneling current reduces. The tunneling current becomes lower as the effective oxide thickness (EOT) of HfSiOxN layer increases. When the incident electron passed through the barriers in the normal incident to the interface, the electron tunneling process becomes easier. It was also shown that the tunneling current was independent of the substrate orientation. Moreover, the model could be used in designing high speed MOS devices with low tunneling currents. This paper will analyze new improved charging scheme with base price, quality premium and QoS networks involved. Sain and Herpers [5] already attempted to obtain revenue maximization by creating charging scheme of internet. The plan is attempted to solve multiple service networks scheme as an optimization model to obtain revenue maximization using our improved model based on [2] and [5]. The results show that improved model can be solved optimally using optimization tool to achieve better revenue maximization. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i3.623

As energy demands around the world increase, the need for a renewable energy sources that will not harm the environment is increased. The overall objective of renewable energy systems is to obtain electricity that is cost competitive and even advantageous with respect to other energy sources. The optimal design of the renewable energy system can significantly improve the economical and technical performance of power supply. This paper presents the power management control using fuzzy logic control technique. Also, a complete mathematical modeling and MATLAB SIMULINK model for the proposed the electrical part of an aquaculture system is implemented to track the system performance. The simulation results show that, the feasibility of control technique. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i3.603

Lettuce image segmentation which based on computer image processing is the premise of non-destructive testing of lettuce quality. The traditional 2-D maximum entropy algorithm has some faults, such as low accuracy of segmentation, slow speed, and poor anti-noise ability. As a result, it leads to the problems of poor image segmentation and low efficiency. An improved 2-D maximum entropy algorithm is presented in this paper. It redistricts segmented regions and furtherly classifies the segmented image pixels with the method of the minimum fuzzy entropy, and reduces the impact of noise points, as a result the image segmentation accuracy is improved. The improved algorithm is used to lettuce object segmentation, and the experimental results show that the improved segmentation algorithm has many advantages compared with the traditional 2-D maximum entropy algorithm, such as less false interference, strong anti-noise ability, good robustness and validity. Aiming at the mechanical testing of three-dimensional specimens with feature size of centimeter level, a miniaturized tensile platform, which presents compatibility with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and metallographic microscope, was designed and built. The platform could accurately evaluate the parameters such as elastic modulus, elongation and yield limit, etc. The calibration experiments of load sensor and displacement sensor showed the two kinds of sensors had high linearity. Testing of transmission error and modal parameters showed that the platform presented good following behaviors and separation of resonance region. Comparison tests based on stress-strain curve were carried out between the self-made platform and the commercial tensile instrument (Instron) to verify the feasibility of the platform. Furthermore, the in situ tensile experiment under metallographic microscope was carried out on a kind of manganese steel. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i3.613

Wide-area protection system (WAPS) is widely studied for the purpose of improvng the performance of conventional backup protection. In this paper, the system architecture of WAPS is proposed and its key technologies are discussed in view of engineering projects. So a mixed structure—centralized-distributed structure which is more suitable for WAPS in limited power grid region, is obtained based on the advantages of the centralized structure and distributed structure. Furthermore, regional distance protection algorithm was taken as an example to illustrate the functions of the constituent units. Faulted components can be detected based on multi-source imformation fuse in the algorithm. And the algorithm cannot only improve the selectivity, the rapidity, and the reliability of relaying protection but also has high fault tolerant capability. A simulation of 220 kV grid systems in Easter Hubei province shows the effectiveness of the wide-area protection system presented by this paper. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i3.604
