Abstract

Wireless sensor network energy saving algorithm is a popular topic in recent researches. This paper proposes a new LEACH based energy saving algorithm to prolong the life of wireless sensor network. In this algorithm, sensors are divided into several static clustering. And each sensor takes turns to act as clustering head. Meanwhile, in order to reduce the network communication flow, the algorithm transports as little control signals as possible. Simulation results show that the algorithm proposed by this article is better than traditional fixed energy saving clustering algorithm in prolonging network’s life cycle. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i5.2478

Abstract

This paper analyzes the structure principle of the actuator simulated loading system with variable stiffness, and establishes the simplified model. What’s more, it also does a research on the application of the self-adaptive tuning of fuzzy PID(Proportion Integration Differentiation) in actuator simulated loading system with variable stiffness. Because the loading system is connected with the steering system by a spring rod, there must be strong coupling. Besides, there are also the parametric variations accompanying with the variations of the stiffness. Based on compensation from the feed-forward control on the disturbance brought by the motion of steering engine, the system performance can be improved by using fuzzy adaptive adjusting PID control to make up the changes of system parameter caused by the changes of the stiffness. By combining the fuzzy control with traditional PID control, fuzzy adaptive PID control is able to choose the parameters more properly. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i5.2495

Abstract

When the transmitting and receiving coils are equivalent with or not significantly smaller than their separation distance between the two coils, the results of numerical simulations for transfer efficiency of system show that the maximum coupling of two coils or maximum transfer efficiency occur with a certain tilt angle between two coils, which means the two coils with parallel on the same axis is not able to obtain the maximum transmission efficiency. In view of this feature of the wireless power transfer system, we propose a novel means to optimize the transfer efficiency by designing rotatable transmitting coils to achieve the appropriate tile angle. Abstract

A new progressive genetic algorithm (PGA) was developed for trajectory planning of a novel limb-robot. The proposed trajectory planning method can be applied to get an optimal joints trajectory from the initial to the end position and orientation. On the basis of the genetic algorithm a new kind of variable structure genetic algorithm (VSGA) is proposed to solve the problem of trajectory planning of the limb-robot in complicate environments. The VSGA changes the original structure by abandoning Elitist Model, expectation selection, reproducing population and changing the probability of crossover and mutation. Abstract

In this study we have offered an investigation of DMF-CPVAs setup for isolating torsional vibration from engine. The simplified mathematical model of DMF-CPVAs setup is built based on the linear theory, the performance of the setup is analyzed, and the result shows that using CPVAs on the DMF leads to an advantage of isolation vibration, instead of just damping vibrations at a specific frequency, could dampen vibrations over a range of frequencies. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i5.2462

Abstract

The Omni-directional impact MEMS switch was designed and characterized for the purpose of impact sensing. In order to turn on the circle reliably, the connect time should be long enough, the structure of flexible electrode was designed to extend the holding time. The structure consists of electrode A and B, electrode A is the sensing mass simultaneously, the sensing mass is suspended by helix cantilever that is fixed to the pedestal, the outer ring is the electrode B, which is suspended by helix cantilever that is fixed to the outer frame. Between the two electrodes, there is a gap, the gap separates electrode A and B, thereby keeping the switch in the open state. The distortion during the impact process extended the contact time. The dynamics of the switch is simulated, the simulation results show that the response time of the switch is 0.135ms, it is short enough, and the contact time which is also called holding time is about 20, the extended time make the switch turn on more reliably. Abstract

Traditional mask-beginning design flow of micro device is unintuitive and fussy for designers. A hierarchical design method and involved key technologies for features mapping procedure are presented. With the feature-based design framework, the model of micro device is organized by various features in different designing stages, which can be converted into each other based on the mapping rules. The feature technology is the foundation of the three-level design flow that provides a more efficient design way. In system level, functional features provide the top level of schematic and functional description. After the functional mapping procedure, on the other hand, parametric design features construct the 3D model of micro device in device level, which is based on Hybird Model representation. By means of constraint features, the corresponding revision rules are applied to the rough model to optimize the original structure. As a result, the model reconstruction algorithm makes benefit for the model revision and constraint features mapping process. Abstract

This paper presents a new technique for detecting break points in computer mouse trajectories called Real time Break Point Detection (RBPD). The mouse trajectory from motor-disabled people contains a lot of break points. RBPD can detect these break points by adapting to the user’s tremor level. To test the effectiveness of this new technique, an experimental study involving five participants suffering from Parkinson’s disease (PD) was conducted. Abstract

Silicon carbide (SiC) SITs were fabricated using home-grown epi structures. The gate is a recessed gate - bottom contact (RG - B). We designed that the mesa space 2.5 μm and the gate channel is 1.5 μm. One cell has 400 source fingers and each source finger width is 50 μm. 0.5 mm gate periphery SiC SIT yielded a maximum drain current density of 160 mA/mm at a drain voltage of 80 V and a gate voltage of 2.5 V. The device blocking voltage with a gate bias of -16 V was 400 V. Packaged 0.5-mm devices were evaluated using amplifier circuits designed for class AB operations. Small signal of SIT was studied. the maximum stable gain (MSG) were 11.2 dB at 500MHz and 7.85 dB at L band 1 GHz with Vds = 80V and Vg = 2V. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i5.2559

Abstract

Challenging environmental factors combined with high and turbulent winds make serious demands on wind turbines and result in significant component fault rates. In this paper, an early fault diagnostic research is conducted upon wind turbines. Firstly, the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system is used to analyze the units’ long-hour operating data, preparing for the further modeling work. Then the MSET (Multivariate State Estimation Technique) is adopted to estimate the temperature of the gear box and to obtain a result of high accuracy; with the Moving Window Calculation (MWC), the residual value between the estimated value and the real value is studied to get the dynamic trend of its average value; according to this trend in training, we define the threshold region of the residual mean value. Considering a man-made deviation in the observation vectors, faults of the gear box are simulated and studied. When the residual mean value curve exceeds the setting thresholds, an alert will be given to remind the operators of hidden problems in the unit. Research shows that this early diagnostic method is quite effective in detecting the abnormal performance of wind turbines in a real-time manner. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i5.2457
