Abstract

In this paper, we obtain the basic construction of triangular microstrip antennas based on the analysis of the single patch and array two patches. This construction use the basic corporate feeding-line with modified lossless T-junction power divider for Circularly Polarized-Synthetic Aperture Radar (CP-SAR) sensor embedded on airspace with compact, small, and simple configuration. The design of Circular Polarization (CP) is realized by truncating the whole three tips and adjusted the parameters of antennas at the resonant frequency, f = 1.25 GHz. The equations for reciprocal, lossless, and matched of the modified lossless T-junction power divider are also described. The result of characteristic performance and S-parameter for the single patch both Left-Hand Circular Polarization (LHCP) and Right-Hand Circular Polarization (RHCP) at the resonant frequency show consecutively 7.15 dBic and 7.16 dBic of gain, 0.12 dB and 0.11 dB of axial ratio, -26.75 dB and -26.72 dB of S-parameter. For array two patches, the result of gain, axial ratio, and S-parameter both of LHCP and RHCP are 7.63 dBic, 7.62 dBic, 2.68 dB, 2.74 dB, -19.43 dB, and -19.40 dB, respectively. The modified lossless T-junction power divider both for LHCP and RHCP are capable of being reciprocal, matched, and lossless at all ports.

Abstract

Obvious information content in Electro cardio graph has become mandatory to reveal the abnormalities in the heart functions. Arrhythmia is commonly seen heart disorder and results in fatal end, if not identified and treated properly within time limits. The straight forward scene in such diagnosis is to detect the salient features from the Electro cardio graph data using signal processing methods followed by proper classification methods.  16 classes of Arrhythmia had been classified in this work by adopting the traditional method of abnormality detection while introducing a novelty in the type of features to be extracted. Lyapunov Exponents, Kolmogorov Sinai Entropy Density, Kolmogorov Sinai Entropy Universality and R-R interval features based on Kurtosis and Skewness had been used to classify the heart beats from the benchmark MIT-Arrhythmia database. Since alternative features had been utilized, common Support Vector Machines based classification could produce an accuracy of 98.95% in the proposed work with just 13 features.

Abstract

In today’s era of ubiquitous learning research, various studies have investigated the transformation of ubiquitous learning in multiple aspects. However, most of these research mainly focus on the study of ubiquitous learning environment. Limited review is on the configuration and components of ubiquitous learning focusing on the interaction process in language learning. Hence, this research performed literature analysis for ubiquitous language learning environment whereby it intends at providing specific information about ubiquitous learning concepts and the criteria that needed in the future research focusing on language learning. It begins by briefly describing the concept of ubiquitous learning environment, language learning skills and the importance of vocabulary learning and then on adult language learning. Finally, ubiquitous learning applications for multiple types of language learning are also compared and discussed to further enhance the understanding of ubiquitous language learning environment. Therefore, it is important to have a medium that can be used to improve language learning process to be more interactive. The result will also become a reference point to assist development of ubiquitous language learning applications.

Abstract

Nowadays, XLPE cable has been widely used because it has better resistance than other cables. XLPE insulation has unique features including a high dielectric strength and high insulation resistance. A lot of researches based on hardware and software have been conducted to prove the effectiveness of XLPE cable such as AC and DC applications and Space Charge Distribution measurement under HVDC at High Temperature. This research focused on analysis of space charge and electric field on XLPE cable with effect of non-uniform contamination layer by using Quickfield Software. Non-uniform contaminations have been applied along XLPE cable using Arsenic Tribromide (AsBr3), Boron Bromide (BBr3), Ethylene Dichloride (CH2C1), Formic Acid (CH1O2), Formamide (CH3NO) and Alcohol element. Presence of these contamination elements represent of underground contamination. The size and layer of the contamination were non-uniform type. From the results, it is shown that lower dielectric constant of contamination will affect more on charge of XLPE insulation. As a conclusion, it can be seen lower dielectric constant value of contamination element greatly affecting the performance of XLPE insulation. Furthermore, size of contamination also influences the content of charge in contamination where the bigger the contamination size, the more charge contained in the contamination.

Abstract

Cooling pads are commonly used to reduce temperature of laptop to avoid overheating problem. However, existing cooling pads are prone to various limitations: fixed voltage in the hardware component, inaccurate temperature readings and lacked of computer-based temperature monitoring functions. In this paper, a laptop cooling system with multivoltage fan speed controller using real-time processor temperature readings is proposed. A graphical user interface (GUI) and color coded LEDs are also implemented to provide visual inspection of the temperature values captured from the laptop. The temperature values are displayed in graph and tabular form.  The performance of the proposed cooling pad with computer-based monitoring application is evaluated against two other types of existing cooling pad systems.  The experiments have shown that the temperature values can be monitored clearly with the proposed GUI. More importantly, the proposed cooling pad system has the potential to achieve lower temperature faster than the rest of the existing cooling pad systems.

Abstract

This paper aims to present the benefits of enterprise resource planning (ERP) service over traditional ERP through the development of ERP in the form of software-as-a-service(SaaS). This service is published in response to the fact that traditional ERP is rarely implemented in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Saudi Arabia due to the highcost and risk of implementation failure. This paper can be used to encourage SMEs in Saudi Arabia to exploit ERP service. ERP service can be accessed by client via anyprogramming interface over an Internet connection without special configuration, thus highlighting the core competencies of the SMEs. As a prove of concept, the stock serviceis published as a concrete ERP service. Two types of application were developed to access the service: desktop and smartphone based application. Based on a simple qualitativeassessment, it is acknowledged that ERP service is advantageous over traditional ERP systems in terms of its scalability, agile implementation, global accessibility,mobility, low operational costs, lack of upfront costs, best practices, rapid upgrading, and interoperability among other services.

Abstract

The pervasiveness of IoT device requires each device to have a unique address number in order to communicate. Internet Standard specified in RFC4941-Privacy Extension for SLAAC had question raised on the randomness of the IPv6 address generated due to the shortcoming of device random generator algorithm. Improvements to the RFC’s have been proposed and Arduino Uno had been selected as IoT platform since it currently supports IPv6 implementation. An enhancement algorithm was developed. The generated IPv6 address is then tested against ENT Random Test tool for observation and conclusion.

Abstract

Time domain reflectometry (TDR) is an easy technique that provides quick response which is ideal for power utility companies to conduct cable diagnostics on-site. Electricity disruption due to power cable failure is a major challenge for power utility companies due to the long length of cable installed with joints. The long time taken to diagnose the defect along the cable before electricity can be restored has not only jeopardized the reputation of power utility companies but also brings losses to the economy. Hence, this study conducts experimental analysis on cable with two joints with the application of TDR technique to reduce the electricity disruption time. This research is divided into two stages where stage 1 conducts experiments on cable with one degraded section while stage 2 looks into cable with two degraded sections. The TDR reflection characteristics are studied from stage 1 experiments and applied to stage 2 experiments to verify the consistency of the TDR reflection characteristics. The cable conditions of stage 2 experiments are predicted using the reflection characteristics from stage 1 observations and are then validated by comparing these predictions with the actual cable configuration. Results obtained from these experiments have proven that the TDR reflection characteristics are consistent and accurate which can be used to sectionalize the degraded cable section. Detail findings of all experiments conducted with the TDR application are discussed in part three of this paper.

Abstract

Nowadays, Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) paradigm is getting more popularity in the field of software development. But testing an Aspect-oriented software system (AOSS) is not well matured. Therefore, many researchers have been focusing on testing an AOSS. Moreover, the literature indicates that very few papers have devoted to literature survey but still there is need to study in depth of various testing techniques used for AOSS. Therefore, in this paper, a comprehensive study of existing various testing techniques for AOSS have been conducted and present a comparative analysis result of various testing techniques based on various parameters.

Abstract

Recent advancement of wireless technology and Internet of Things (IoT) have brought a significant development in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs). VANET and IoT are the key elements in the current Intelligent Transport System (ITS). Various research on VANET and IoT shows that both have substantial effects in smart transportation system. This paper aims to discuss and illustrate the main challenges and drawbacks; the routing protocols, security and privacy experienced by VANETs respectively. This paper also would like to address the importance of IoT based on VANET in traffic control management system to cope up with the new wireless technology era. Section I of this paper provides a brief explanation on VANETs and IoT, section II discusses the main challenges suffered by VANETs and IoT, section III covers on the existing applications of VANETs and IoT and section IV conclude the views.
