Abstract

Internet of things mixed with Radio Frequency identification generation permit a whole new context for whole new devices that are capable of combining their bodily and virtual existences. Radio Frequency identification, placing an identification label into every object, allows a clever device to get information, both actual-time or digital-connected statistics, without any physical touch. Information retrieved from such an object, turns it right into a capacity smart object, clearly able to car pick out itself and, if protection problems are certainly handled, maximum in all likelihood capable to connect to the worldwide net. This way, one can get a ubiquitous framework to get admission to, display and manipulate any of these smart items over a web of linked things. RFID tags in scientific context enable a fast and specific identification of each clever entity, permitting a ubiquitous and brief get admission to personal fitness data over an internet of factors [1-2]. People have been struggling with sicknesses weird. Visually challenged human beings are blind people who are very common and difficult to cope with of their way. The principle aim of this project is to aid the visually challenged human beings with a better navigation device. This clever strolling stick is greater state-of-the-art device with many embedded features.

Abstract

As system-on-chip (SoC) integration is growing very rapidly, increased circuit densities in SoC have lead a radical increase in test data volume and reduction of this large test data volume is one of the biggest challenges in the testing industry. This paper presents an efficient test independent compression scheme primarily based on the error correcting Hamming codes. The scheme operates on the pre-computed test data without the need of structural information of the circuit under test and thus it is applicable for IP cores in SoC. Test vectors are equally sliced into the size of ‘n’ bits. Individual slices are treated as a Hamming codeword consisting of ‘p’ parity bits and ‘d’ data bits (n = d + p) and validity of each codeword is verified. If a valid slice is encountered’ data bits prefixed by ‘1’ are written to the compressed file, while for a non-valid slice all ‘n’ bits preceded by ‘0’ are written to the compressed file. Finally, we apply Huffman coding and RLE in order to improve the compression ratio further The efficiency of the proposed hybrid scheme is verified with the experimental outcomes and comparisons to existing compression methods suitable for testing of IP cores.

Abstract

Prostate cancer is the century disease that endanger the life of men. The earlier to diagnose the disease, the probability of curing this disease is higher. Therefore, new approaches of diagnosis is required to effectively detect the prostate cancer in early stage compared to the traditional methods. Therefore, WNN is a new adopted approach in prostate cancer diagnosis. Morlet function is used as an activation function of wavelet neural network (WNN) and back propagation (BP) is applied to train the Wavelet network. WNN classifies prostate cancer according to three factors: patient age, PSA level, and prostate volume. WNN performance is evaluated based on the percentage of classification and the computational complexity of several cases. The results of the simulation show that WNN has lower mean squared error (MSE) than the Neural Network (NN).

Abstract

Information system (IS) is important to institution of higher learning (IHL) especially in the domain of curriculum design. Without the support of IS, curriculum design in IHL is time-consuming, error-prone and much effort need to put in by curriculum designers. Although there are numerous IS developed in curriculum design domain for the past few years, there is still lack of specific IS curriculum design model found in IHL.  This study aims to propose an IS model which provide guidance during curriculum design process. Model validation phase begin with development of prototype which explains the process of creating a prototype according to the proposed model. The study collected 80 responses from the survey and the study resulted that the IS model is useful and able to reduce time, error and effort during curriculum design process.

Abstract

In this study, a hybrid approach combining an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Wavelet Transform (WT) is examined for solar radiation prediction in Nigeria. Meteorological data obtained from NIMET Nigeria comprising of monthly mean minimum temperature, maximum temperature, relative humidity and sunshine hours were used as inputs to the model and monthly mean solar radiation was used as the model output. The data used was divided into two for training and testing, with 70% used during the training phase and 30% during the testing phase. The hybrid model performance is assessed using three statistical evaluators, Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Coefficient of determination (R2). According to the results obtained, a very accurate prediction was achieved by the WT- ANFIS model by improving the value of (R2) by at least 14% and RMSE by at least 78% when compared with other existing models. And a MAPE of 2% is recorded using the proposed approach. The obtained results prove the developed WT-ANFIS model as an efficient tool for solar radiation prediction.

Abstract

In this paper, a novel microwave sensor with high Q-factor for oil sensing is analyzed and investigated. The new design is based on a gap waveguide cavity resonator (GWCR). To characterize and evaluate the sample, the oil under tested (OUT) is injected into a Teflon tube, which is passing through the microfluidic channel that is located in the middle of the cavity where the electric field concentrates. The results show that the proposed sensor has a high Q-factor of 4832. Moreover, the proposed design has the ability to sense and detect different types of oils with a small variation of permittivities such as Fish oil, Coconut oil, Olive oil, Linseed oil and Castor oil. The permittivity equation is extracted using the polynomial fitting method to define unknown dielectric properties of the OUT. The results show that the evaluated permittivity using the proposed sensor has a good agreement with the ideal permittivity. Therefore, the proposed sensor is a good candidate for oil processing in food industries.

Abstract

Word Sense Disambiguation (WSD) is one of the most difficult problems in the artificial intelligence field or well known as AI-hard or AI-complete. A lot of problems can be solved using word sense disambiguation approaches like sentiment analysis, machine translation, search engine relevance, coherence, anaphora resolution, and inference. In this paper, we do research to solve WSD problem with two small corpora. We propose the use of Word2vec and Wikipedia to develop the corpora. After developing the corpora, we measure the sentence similarity with the corpora using cosine similarity to determine the meaning of the ambiguous word. Lastly, to improve accuracy, we use Lesk algorithms and Wu Palmer similarity to deal with problems when there is no word from a sentence in the corpora (we call it as semantic similarity). The results of our research show an 86.94% accuracy rate and the semantic similarity improve the accuracy rate by 12.96% in determining the meaning of ambiguous words.

Abstract

Cultural heritage reflects a society’s identity, hence should be protected and preserved for the future generation. Digital preservation is significant for cultural heritage since there are a lot of important knowledge and collections of manuscripts and artefacts which need to be preserved to ensure sustainability for future generations. However, there is still a lack in digital preservation methods for cultural heritage especially intangible cultural heritage. This paper discusses cultural heritage and results of a study on intangible cultural heritage preservation. An interview with five experts in intangible cultural heritage domain has been carried out.  Results show that level of awareness of preserving intangible cultural heritage is still low. In addition, the heritage practitioners - artisans and craftsmen keep the knowledge and skills in their memory as preservation method.  Thus the knowledge depend on individual practitioners since no documentation is made. Informants are also aware of the importance of digitalization of intangible cultural heritage knowledge for the preservation and safeguard.
