Abstract

In order to overcome the defects of the slow convergence rate of the traditional Genetic Algorithm and basic Particle Swarm Optimization drops into local optimum easily, an improved Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm based on hybrid algorithm is proposed and applied to the signal detection for MIMO-OFDM system. The algorithm optimizes the basic Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm and some problems were solved by means of Particle Swarm Optimization combined with Genetic Algorithm for signal detection. Through the theoretical analysis and the simulation research, this improved algorithm is superior to basic Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm 0.5dB under the same number of iterations and is better than traditional Genetic Algorithm 0.5dB under the same bit error rate. This algorithm improves the system signal detection performance effectively with less iteration and reduces the bit error rate. It has rapid speed of convergence and strong capability of global search. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.5105

Abstract

With the miniaturization and portability of online detection and grading equipment, traditional PC is being replaced with ARM or DSP embedded systems in beef quality grading industry. As the low basic frequency of embedded system, the traditional beef marbling segmentation method can not meet requirements of real-time performance. The fast segmentation algorithm of beef marbling based on image resampling is put forward aiming the disadvantages that the traditional method is time-consuming and does not apply to embedded systems. First, the entropies of the original image and resampling image were calculated according to the entropy principle to determine the image resampling rate based on entropy constraint according to the changes of relative information entropy of resampling image. Then fuzzy c-mean (FCM) cluster segmentation was conducted on the resampling image to calculate the beef image segmentation threshold. Finally, beef marbling area is segmented via morphological and logic operations on a series of images. The experimental results show that this proposed algorithm took 0.57s on average in beef marbling image segmentation under the constraints that the loss rate of relative information entropy ranged between 0.5-1.0%, which is only 6.43% of that of the traditional FCM cluster segmentation algorithm, indicating significantly augmented efficiency of segmentation. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.4294

Abstract

A constraint satisfaction optimization model is established for just-in-time HFS scheduling problem with limited waiting time. Considering the problem’s complicated characteristic of having binary variables, this paper decomposes it into a Multiple Capacitated Flow Shop Scheduling (MCFS) problem and a machine allocation problem. During the process of solving the MCFS problem, a local search is embedded into the procedure of constraint satisfaction optimization so as to improve the convergence of the algorithm. Data experiments show that both the model and algorithm are feasible and effective. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.5093

Abstract

The integration of wind resource into the electric grid brings significant challenges due to the variable nature and anti-peak-regulation characteristic of wind power. Based on least square method, an improved normal distribution model is proposed to fit the actual wind power forcast error. Furthermore, considering wind power forecast error and the great potential of battery energy storage system (BESS) technology to mitigate the impact of volatile wind power, a unit commitment (UC) model with large capacity BESS has been estanbished in this study. Case studies with modified IEEE 39-bus system are employed to validate the proposed method. The role of BESS on economics, peak load shifting and accommodating wind power is discussed. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.4937

Abstract

This paper proposes two novel methods to simply Logarithmic Maximum a posteriori (Log-MAP) algorithm for turbo codes in the Third Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution (3GPP LTE). Firstly, we exploit a new function to replace the logarithmic term in the Jacobian logarithmic function based on Taylor series, which has the best approximated accuracy compared with the existing methods. With this method, we get algorithm I. Secondly, to further simplify the complexity, we propose a new piece-wise ladder function to approximate the logarithmic term according to algorithm I. In this way, we obtain algorithm II.  Simulation results show that the performance of the algorithm I is most close to the optimal algorithm. Algorithm II owns the complexity which is similar to the MAX-Log-MAP algorithm, meanwhile it can offer 0.37-0.4db performance gains than MAX-Log-MAP algorithm. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.2547

Abstract

The improvement of the effective recognition of quality abnormal patterns in dynamic process has seen increasing demands nowadays in the real-time monitor and diagnose of automatic manufacturing. Based on the analysis of the dynamic process of quality abnormal pattern, this paper presents a recognition model of quality abnormal pattern recognition using a Multi-SVM. Contrasting with performance of recognition model based on different kernel functions, suitable kernel functions were selected for the recognition model. Furthermore, we have contrasted the model proposed in this paper with the model adopted by Vahid. Simulation results show that the recognition model proposed in this paper has very high recognition accuracy for all patterns, and the overall average recognition accuracy is 97.78%. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.4919

Abstract

Moving objects detection is conducted in the sequential image of moving objects, which is favorable to detect, identify and analyze the moving objects. It has been applied in video surveillance, virtual reality, and advanced user interfaces. Based on existing research on the Frame Difference Method (FDM) and the Background Subtraction Method (BSM), considering the short time interval between adjacent images used for difference, FDM is adopted for its smaller impact by scene illumination variation, which is complementary to the drawback that BSM is sensitive to environmental variation; while BSM can detect the integral moving objects, which can also make up the disadvantage of FDM in failing to detect the integral moving objects. In this paper, we propose a moving objects detection method with resistance to illumination change. We conclude from the experiment that this method is noise-proof and can adapt the abrupt change in illumination to ensure accuracy of the detection. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.5094

Abstract

Electron beam lithography (EBL) is widely used in nano-scale device fabrication and research due to high resolution and excellent flexibility. In this paper, nanometer EBL system based on scanning electron microscope (SEM) is introduced. Its main components include a modified SEM, a laser interferometer controlled stage, a versatile high speed pattern generator, and a fully functional and easy-operational software system. In order to explain this EBL system design principle, realization method, this paper mainly introduces each component’s design basis, main structures and functions. Stitching experiments overlay experiments and arbitrary shape patterns exposure experiments have been done on this EBL system based on JSM-35CF SEM. The lithography results demonstrate that the resolution of electron beam lithography system can approach nanometer. This kind of EBL system based on SEM can meet the need of micro-nanofabrication research and design activities at flexibility and low price. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.4473

Abstract

A new distributed E-commerce architecture is put forward in the study, through the careful analysis of the existing shortcomings of the architecture of the present E-commerce system. The system integrates multi-commercial activities of E-commerce under the loose-coupled service programs so that the architecture of large scale distributed E-commerce system is formed. The trans-regional distributed E-Commerce architecture aims at solving the urgent problems such as resource recomposition and distributed deployment ahead of large commerce systems. Based on it, we propose the global scheme that could be built in the agent-based P2P network or other environment, and the latest software technologies could be used in the servers to publish the cooperation services. As far as the present technology is concerned, Web service P2P and agent technology are good choice, which are the three key supporting technologies of the architecture. Each branch market can be operated and maintained independently regardless of the existence of others, but their order services are to be centrally processed by the order server. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.4346
