Abstract

In this paper, A novel optimization technique called whale optimization algorithm (WOA) is modified, used and implemented to find the best possible solution to the problem of optimal locating and sizing of Distributed Generation (DG) resources such as photovoltaic cells, fuel cells and kVAR compensators in radial distribution feeders. The modified technique is used for the first time to solve this kind of optimization problem which includes optimal sizing and location of DG units in radial distribution feeder.The proposed method is applied to two different test distribution feeders (15 bus and 33 bus test systems) using different DG types and the acquired results are analyzed and compared to other modern optimization methods to confirm that they give the best results, lowest system real power losses and highest voltage profile improvement among the other modern methods implemented on the same test systems.

Abstract

Electrical energy is important and had been demand increasingly. A lot of energy resources have been wasted and exhausted. An alternative way to generate electricity by using a population of human had been discovered When walking, the vibration that generates between the surface and the footstep is wasted. By utilizing this wasted energy, the electrical energy can be generated and fulfill the demand. The transducer that use to detect the vibration is a piezoelectric transducer. This transducer converts the mechanical energy into electrical energy. When the pressure from the footstep is applied to the piezoelectric transducer, it will convert the pressure or the force into the electrical energy. The piezoelectric transducer is connected in series-parallel coonection. Then, it is placed on the tile that been made from wood as a model for footstep tile to give pressure to the piezoelectric transducers. This tile can be placed in the crowded area, walking pavement or exercise instruments. The electric energy that generates from this piezoelectric tile can be power up low power appliances.

Abstract

Tropospheric scintillation in satellite communication systems operating at frequencies over 10 GHz is a significant impairment, especially in tropical regions, as attenuation affects scintillation dramatically. This work concentrates on tropospheric scintillation in equatorial Johor Bahru, Malaysia, based on a one-year Ku-band propagation measurement study utilising a direct broadcast receiver and an automatic weather station. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between wet scintillation and rain attenuation using experimental measurements. The power spectral analysis has been carried out to determine required cut-off frequency of filtering to separate out rain attenuation and scintillation effects. The results can provide significant information on the fluctuations of wet scintillation at Ku-band earth space link in tropical regions.

Abstract

In the socio-economic world, the human resources are in the most top phase of the enterprise evolution. This evolution began when the arithmetic, statistics are applicable over a vast of opportunities and used to identify problems and support decision. However, analytics has been emerged to provide predictions and understand the people performance based on available data.In light of this vast amount of information, human resources services need to deploy a predictive management model and operating system of analytics that can be an efficient and an instead solution that can respond to the gaps of the traditional existing ones and facilitate the decision making. In this paper, we present a literature review of this HR analytics concept and a case study concerning the impact of interventions using an analytics solution.

Abstract

Multiple Regression-Based Prediction (MRBP) is an emerging calculation to or analysis technique cope with the future by compiling the history of data. The MRBP characteristic will include an approximation for the associations between physical observations and predictions. MRBP is a predictive model, which will be an important source of knowledge in terms of an interesting trend to be followed in the future. However, there is impairment in the MRBP dataset, wherein each form of missing and noisy data has caused an error and is unavailable further analysis. To overcome this unavailability, so that the data analytics can be moved on, two treatment approaches are introduced. First, the given dataset is denoised; next, listwise deletion (LD) is proposed to handle the missing data. The performance of the proposed technique will be investigated by dealing with datasets that cannot be executed. Employing the Massive Online Analysis (MOA) software, the proposed model is investigated, and the results are summarized. Performance metrics, such as mean squared error (MSE), correlation coefficient (COEF), mean absolute error (MAE), root mean squared error (RMSE), and the average error percentage, are used to validate the proposed mechanism. The proposed LD projection is confirmed through actual values. The proposed LD outperforms other treatments as it only requires less state space, which reflects low computation cost, and proves its capability to overcome the limitation of analysis.

Abstract

Optical burst mode receivers are indispensable components for Passive Optical Network (PON) and Ethernet Optical Access Network (E-OSAN). An optical burst mode receiver with transfer function Gn(jω/ω0) = 1 - Hn(jω/ω0) is proposed, of which better performance is anticipated than that of conventional AC-coupling. Next, an optical burst mode receiver with fast response Gn(jω/ωF) and slow response Gn(jω/ωS), whereby Gn(jω/ωF) switches to Gn(jω/ωS) right after the DC component of the input burst signal converges to 0 is proposed. Then, an automatically switching circuit that switches fast response Gn(jω/ωF) to slow response Gn(jω/ωS) circuits right after the maximum peak value of the output burst Gn(jω/ωF) is 1/2 and the DC components of the input burst converges to 0 is also proposed. This paper presents the experiments on same consecutive codes in burst mode receivers using the proposed automatically switching circuit, with evaluation on its characteristics made through simulation.

Abstract

The available fire alarm system in the market unable to inform occupant that their house is on fire. The occupant remains unknown especially when they are away from their house. Most of the time, the house or building almost destroyed by fire when firefighter comes to the scene due to late inform to Fire and Rescue Department. To this aim, automatic smoke detection system using Internet of Things (IoT) is proposed. The proposed system not only able to monitor the smoke condition of a room but also able to alert user and Fire and Rescue Department when certain level of smoke is detected by a gas sensor via Favoriot platform. Arduino Uno is used in this work to control all the devices and WiFi shield acts as a medium to interconnect devices with the network so that the data from the smoke sensor can be read in the Favoriot platform. In this experiment, the condition of room is tested under several burning materials and the smoke levels are recorded. It is found that when the smoke level more than 100 ppm, it may cause to sore eyes, cough and hard breathing that can bring to death. Therefore, the best threshold level of the automatic smoke detection system is at 80 ppm. By using this system, the user able to take preliminary rescue action to save people and prevent fire breaks out.

Abstract

A rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) has been excited by an off-set single conformal metal strip. By using such excitation technique two degenerate resonant modes, TExδ11 and TEy1δ1 of the rectangular DRA have been excited to achieve circular polarization (CP). A CP bandwidth of ~ 5.2% in conjunction with a wide impedance matching bandwidth of ~ 54% has been provided by the proposed DRA configuration. The antenna design has been simulated using computer simulation technology (CST). Antenna prototype has been built to verify the impedance matching bandwidth. Far field parameters have been optimized and verified using two simulation techniques in CST i.e. finite integration technique (FIT) and finite element method (FEM). A good agreement between the simulated and measured result has been observed for S11. Similarly a very good resemblance between the far field results from FIT and FEM have been demonstrated.

Abstract

The 12 elements antenna array for GPS system having high gain with circular polarization is presented in this paper. The circularly polarized antenna is very suitable for the use of various wireless systems such as Global Positioning System with operating frequency is 1.27 GHz with AR is less than 3 dB between 82˚ and 140˚.The antenna consists of twelve main radiation patches connected in parallel. The antennas array are designed on the Rogers RT5880 substrate with a dielectric constant (εr) of 2.2 and thickness is 0.787 mm. The antenna is excited with an inset feed line and it operates in L-band with a resonant frequency of 1.27 GHz.

Abstract

E-commerce has grown exponentially over the years. The growth has been characterized by strong consumer demands and the increasing number of various products available online. This in turn creates a logistical problem and a high demand for an efficient courier service to support the growing markets. It is very important for courier service provider that the delivery of the parcel is being done as fast as possible. One of the courier service’s vital and most crucial business process is in the last mile parcel delivery. This is where an efficient delivery service will be of utmost importance. An efficient system needs to be developed in order to facilitate the interaction between the courier service provider and consumer to precisely determine the optimal route for the parcel delivery. In this paper, an Android-based application system for courier service management with last mile route tracking module is developed. It is a mobile application that eases the courier delivery personnel in finding their way to deliver the parcels to the customer’s doorstep. The application will guide the courier personnel to get a list of courier data such as address and contact information and then navigate them to the selected customers’ addresses based on traffic data retrieved from Google Maps API. It will choose the best route to the address and notify the customers before arriving so that the customers are ready to receive the parcel. This last mile route tracking for parcel delivery will provide the basis for an efficient courier service system.
