Abstract

The focus for quasi-Newton methods is the quasi-Newton equation. A new quasi-Newton equation is derived for quadratic function. Then, based on this new quasi-Newton equation, a new quasi-Newton updating formulas are presented. Under appropriate conditions, it is shown that the proposed method is globally convergent. Finally, some numerical experiments are reported which verifies the effectiveness of the new method.

Abstract

Automatic license plate detection and recognition (ALPD-R) is an important and challenging application for traffic surveillance, traffic safety, security, services purposes and parking management. Generally, traditional image processing routines have been used in ALPD-R. Although the general approaches perform well on ALPD-R, new and efficient approaches are needed to improve the detection accuracies. Thus, in this paper, a new approach, which is based on fusing of multiple faster Regions with convolutional neutral network (faster- RCNN) architectures, is proposed. More specially, the deep learning (DL) is used to detect license plates in given images. The proposed license plate detection method uses three faster- RCNN modules where each faster RCNN module uses a pre-trained CNN model namely AlexNet, VGG16 and VGG19. Each faster-RCNN module is trained independently and their results are fused in fusing layer. Fusing layer use average operator on the X and Y coordinates of the outputs of the Faster-RCNN modules and maximum operator is employed on the width and height outputs of the faster-RCNN modules. A publicly available dataset is used in experiments. The accuracy is used as a performance indicator of the proposed method. For 100 testing images, the proposed method detects the exact location of license plates for 97 images. The accuracy of the proposed method is 97%.

Abstract

This paper proposes a methodology for designing and operating a microgrid (MG) for the main campus of the Technical Institution Hawija. In this MG, a battery energy storage system (BESS), photovoltaic (PV) generation system, and controllable loads are included. Due to the high penetration of the PVs, over-voltage issues may occur in this MG. A novel operation strategy is considered by coordinating the BESS, PVs, and loads to prevent power outages and accomplish a secure operation of this MG. In this proposed approach, droop controllers have been implemented to provide the appropriate references for the PVs and BESS to maintain the voltage of the MG within a secure range. The generation of the PVs may be curtailed to guarantee the fidelity of the voltage. The intended simulations will be based on MATLAB/Simulink to show the efficacy of the intended design.

Abstract

In this paper, Microstrip slot aperture and Microstrip line feeding techniques of dielectric resonator antenna are investigated and examined at 26 GHz for 5G applications. The dielectric resonator has a dielectric constant of 10 and etched on Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate having a thickness of 0.254mm and relative permittivity of 2.2. The proposed structures are optimized and simulated using the commercial software CST Microwave studio. The effect of feeding techniques on the bandwidth, radiation efficiency, gain, VSWR and radiation pattern are also examined and analysed. The return loss, bandwidth, gain, radiation efficiency, VSWR and radiation pattern are presented and compared based on the excitation method employed for the studied DRA. The simulated results show that the microstrip slot aperture provides good performance and is suitable for 5G applications.

Abstract

Supplier selection is essential to the business. The risks posed by suppliers will have a significant impact on the company's performance. Each business has distinct supplier features to mitigate this.These characteristics are divided into criteria in supplier selection. In this study, the criteria in supplier selection will be weighted by best worst method (BWM) and comparing the three ranking methods, complex proportional assessment (COPRAS), multi-objective optimization berdasarkan analisis rasio (MOORA) and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). The sample in this study is an ABC manufacturing company engaged in mining from Indonesia. From the results of the study, there were 16 criteria using the Delphi Method. These criteria are divided into four main criteria, namely service, quality, cost and time. From the results of weighting BWM, the price sub criteria on cost criteria have the greatest weight for ABC companies. The results of the weighting are then carried out by supplier ranking by comparing the COPRAS, MOORA and TOPSIS approaches. In comparing these three methods, approaches are used based on accuracy and complexity. The COPRAS method has the highest accuracy and lowest complexity according to the ABC company.
