Abstract

Heat transfer occurs due to the difference in temperature between the system and its surroundings. The effect of temperature can affect various aspects of the refining process, including efficiency, selectivity, reaction kinetics, and the quality of the final product. This study aims to analyze heat transfer in a double-jacket reactor by measuring temperature data taken using a temperature data logger system. Prototype low cost-effective temperature monitoring for double jacket reactor vacuum is this system integrates an Arduino Mega 2560, a type K thermocouple, amplifier MAX 6675 module, and an SD card data logger to measure and record reactor temperature for 30 minutes. The temperature data obtained is used to calculate the heat transfer and analyze the heat transfer characteristics of the reactor. Heat transfer analysis based on measured temperature data is able to provide insight into the characteristics of heat transfer in the observed system and can identify hot spots and heat transfer energy in the system. Thus, the temperature data logger used in the double jacket reactor in the vacuum distillation system can produce accurate data and information, and this system has broad application potential in temperature monitoring in various fields.

Abstract

Designing an embedded system to convert sign language to sound forms to communicate with the outside world can be a challenging yet rewarding project, especially for mute people. To convey a speaker's thought through sign language, hand shapes, hand orientation and movement, and facial expressions must be combined concurrently. This research is intended to design a system that translates sign language into sound forms to establish communication with the outside world for people who are deaf, those who can hear but cannot physically speak, or have trouble with spoken languages due to some other disabilities. They can thus receive prompt assistance and stay out of uncomfortable circumstances. Additionally, this system incorporates a tracking system that uses a global system for mobile communications (GSM)/ global positioning system (GPS) module to locate a person using a tracking device and send the location to previously saved emergency contact numbers so that someone nearby can quickly locate and assist the person. Typically, each nation has its own native sign language. This project will create a few essential and typical sentences and phrases in Bengali.

Abstract

This paper presents an improved metaheuristic technique inspired by the foundational concepts of the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm adapted to deal with multi-objective optimization challenges. Our approach combines the main ideas of ABC with a non-dominated sorting strategy including aspects of Pareto dominance, crowding distance, and greedy selection method. Furthermore, the chosen non-dominated solutions are archived in a repository with a static size. The presented approach, multi-objective artificial bee colony (MOABC), is compared to other state-of-the-art algorithms including the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA II) and the multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO). MOABC and selected algorithms from the literature are applied to five zitzler-deb-thiele (ZDT) Multi-objective benchmark functions. Then three key metrics are employed for performance evaluations: generational distance (GD), spread (SP), and hypervolume (HV). The simulation results suggest that the proposed method is competitive and presents an effective choice for tackling multi-objective optimization problems.

Abstract

An artifact known as an image is what makes the depiction of a thing or a person feasible. An image is a representation of visual perception and has a physical appearance that is analogous to that of the subject being portrayed. In situations when there is insufficient illumination, such as at night or when there is a lot of background noise, the use of infrared imagery can help improve the accuracy of object detection. Infrared images are able to account for a wide variety of noises, including those that are the result of sensor faults, lens distortion, software artifacts, blur, and other problems. It is difficult to do qualitative and quantitative analysis on thermal images due to the significant levels of noise that are present in these images. Eliminating noise in an infrared image by employing the total variance void (TVV) denoising technique while preserving the integrity of the image’s boundaries and texture. Denoising thermal images make use of a technique that is both efficient and reliable thanks to an integrated algorithm that combines TV denoising and Noise2Void (N2V). Strengths of the two methods, it is possible to produce denoised images of superior quality with improved retention of edge and texture detail.

Abstract

Virtual conferences have successfully solved the challenges of traditional face-to-face conferences that can’t be carried out smoothly due to issues such as venue, transportation, and the pandemic. More importantly, as virtual conferences continue to develop and mature, they provide a virtual environment for multi-person collaboration, which is impossible to achieve with traditional face-to-face conferences. This technological innovation is expected to bring significant cost savings to various fields such as medical care, education, and industry. This paper proposes a unity-based multi-party collaborative virtual conference model. The model takes automobiles as the theme, which can realize the design and modification of the appearance of the automobiles by multiple people in the same space, and also supports operations such as the disassembly and installation of the automobile engine. This model is designed to deepen our understanding of multi-person collaboration capabilities in virtual conferences, a feature that is expected to significantly improve teamwork efficiency.

Abstract

In the bioinformation photoplethysmography (PPG) measurement, the precision and repeatability could be impacted by the contact pressure between the optical sensor and the measurement site. Taking the finger’s geometrical, mechanical, and optical characteristics into consideration, finite element models and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation methods were used to quantitatively analyze the effects of the deformation of different finger layers under contact pressure on its optical parameters and PPG signals during fingertip spectroscopic detection. Firstly, a 3D axisymmetric finger model was established, pelican optimization was used to find the parameter lamp that caused the simulation to best match the finger pressing behavior, modeled the deformation of each layer, and quantified the changes in their absorption and scattering coefficient. Then, before and after pressure application, photon propagation in the reflectance and transmittance modalities within the diastolic and systolic finger tissues at 660 nm and 940 nm were studied by MC simulation. The result shows that contact pressure significantly altered the thickness of the dermis and subcutaneous tissues, a decrease in tissue thickness caused an increase in optical coefficient, which resulted in a reduction in normalized pulsatile reflectance and a boost in transmittance, and the change was dependent on wavelength.

Abstract

Employers are facing difficulties in selecting the most suitable candidates for employment and the transition from education to work is challenging for young graduates. Therefore, it is important to have indicators that could show the suitability of a potential candidate for his/her chosen job. A person who possesses knowledge but lacks confidence may struggle to perform assigned tasks, while an overly confident person with limited knowledge is likely to make errors in their job. Although there is existing research on learning analytics related to assessments, the research on learning analytics specifically focused on the confidence-knowledge relationship based on assessment data is still lacking. This article aims to examine the application of analytics in providing insights based on assessment data that can be utilized by potential employers. To achieve this, a systematic review was carried out, analyzing a total of 141 articles. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the use of assessment analytics in identifying the knowledge-confidence quadrants of students.
