Abstract

The objective of this research was to discuss the processes and challenges encountered in the creation of mobile games for both Android and iOS platforms, which would help the novice game developers to enter the big world of mobile game industry. We highlighted each phase of the mobile game development. These involved suggestions on efficient brainstorming of ideas, proper selection of game engine, game design, number and type of pages, creation of levels, and distribution of complexity across the game level. In addition, other factors were considered such as the creation of User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX) as well as definition of the screen object’s sizes and positions that would be suitable in all mobile devices. The importance of agile cycles of alpha and beta testing was also discussed, particularly its influence on the enhancement of game features. However, a successful game is recognized based on its earnings. Hence, a guide on how to properly market the game was also included. A model game called “By Two” was used in this study to illustrate and explain the steps in detail.

Abstract

This paper will review on the existing techniques and methodologies of harmonic load diagnostic system. The increasingly amount of harmonic producing load used in power system are the main contribution in quantifying each harmonic disturbance effects of the multiple harmonic producing loads and it became very important. Literature proposes two different techniques and methods on the harmonic source identification under the soft computing technique classification. The advantages and disadvantages of harmonic load identification techniques and methods are discussed in this paper. In the proposed method, the issue on the harmonic contribution is determine and transformed to a data correlation analysis. Several techniques to identify the sources of harmonic signals in electric power systems are described and reviewed based on previous paper. Comparative studies of the methods are also done to evaluate the performance of each techniques. However, without sufficient information in this inconsistent environment on the property of the power system, accurate harmonic producing load diagnosis methods are important and further investigations in this regard assumes great implication.

Abstract

The achievement of accepting optimal tax need effective and efficient tax supervision can be achieved by classifying taxpayer compliance to tax regulations. Considering this issue, this paper proposes the classification of taxpayer compliance using data mining algorithms; i.e. C4.5, Support Vector Machine, K-Nearest Neighbor, Naive Bayes, and Multilayer Perceptron based on the compliance of taxpayer data. The taxpayer compliance can be classified into four classes, which are (1) formal and material compliant taxpayers, (2) formal compliant taxpayers, (3) material compliant taxpayers, and (4) formal and material non-compliant taxpayers. Furthermore, the results of data mining algorithms are compared by using Fuzzy AHP and TOPSIS to determine the best performance classification based on the criteria of Accuracy, F-Score, and Time required. Selection of the taxpayer's priority for more detailed supervision at each level of taxpayer compliance is ranked using Fuzzy AHP and TOPSIS based on criteria of dataset variables. The results show that C4.5 is the best performance classification and achieves preference value of 0.998; whereas the MLP algorithm results from the lowest preference value of 0.131. Alternative taxpayer A233 is the top priority taxpayer with a preference value of 0.433; whereas alternative taxpayer A051 is the lowest priority taxpayer with a preference value of 0.036.

Abstract

In order to satisfy the individual needs of consumers for recording TV programs in some different ways, an improved scheme is presented to implement Personal Video Recorder (PVR) function in Android set-top box (STB). As for live TV programs, there are three alternative ways which are continuous recording, timer recording and time-shifting recording being designed. As for TV programs in the future, the way of scheduled recording is designed. Namely, monitor task in the background is checked by the updating of Time and Date Table (TDT) in accordance with Electronic Program Guide (EPG) information. The results show that this scheme is effective and feasible, and it enriches the interface function between TV and consumers. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i2.3928

Abstract

Aiming at a class of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system with uncertainty, a sliding mode control algorithm based on neural network disturbance observer is designed and applied to ship yaw and roll joint stabilization. The nonlinear disturbance observer is finished by radial basis function neural network and with that a terminal sliding mode control algorithm is proposed. The asymptotic stability of closed-loop system is proved based on Lyapunov theorem. The proposed control law is applied to anti-roll control under simulative wave disturbances. Simulation results verified robustness and effectiveness of the suggested algorithm. A good anti-rolling effect is achieved and yaw angle is also reduced greatly with less mechanical loss.

Abstract

The general public’s demand of Bangladesh for safe health is rising promptly with the improvement of the living standard.  However, the allocation of limited and unbalanced medical resources is deteriorating the assurance of safe health of the people. Therefore, the new hospital construction with rational allocation of resources is imminent and significant. The site selection for hospital is one of the crucial policy-related decisions taken by planners and policy makers. The process of hospital site selection is inherently complicated because of this involves many factors to be measured and evaluated. These factors are expressed both in objective and subjective ways where as a hierarchical relationship exists among the factors. In addition, it is difficult to measure qualitative factors in a quantitative way, resulting incompleteness in data and hence, uncertainty. Besides it is essential to address the subject of uncertainty by using apt methodology; otherwise, the decision to choose a suitable site will become inapt. Therefore, this paper demonstrates the application of a novel method named belief rule-based inference methodology-RIMER base intelligent decision system(IDS), which is capable of addressing suitable site for hospital by taking account of large number of criteria, where there exist factors of  both subjective and objective nature.

Abstract

As the spread of web services, the composition of web services becomes a hot topic on both the academia and IT domains. The composition of services depends on the semantic descriptions, which describe the functionality of the services, provided by the owners of services and on the description of the consumer’s requests. The composition also depends on non-functional descriptions (QoS). In this paper, we present an approach of web services composition based on both semantic description and QoS. The proposed approach builds a network of web services by matchmaking the semantic concepts in OWL-S, using the outputs-inputs similarity between services. Then, many composed assemblies can be created by combining web services in the semantic network according to consumer’s needs. Those composed assemblies will be ranked by the QoS that provided by the consumer and the suitable one will be sent back to the consumer. This approach takes the advantages from Pellete DL Reasoner, depth-first and forward chaining algorithms. A prototype and a study case are presented to illustrate the efficiency of our approach. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3068

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the most common diseases diagnosed among female cancer patients. Early detection of breast cancer is needed to reduce the risk of fatality of this disease as no cure has been found yet for this illness. This research is conducted to improve the Gradient Vector Flow (GVF) Snake Active Contour segmentation technique in mammography segmentation. Segmentation of the mammogram image is done to segment lesions existence using Chan-Vese Active Contour and Localized Active Contour. Besides that, the effectiveness of these both methods are then compared and chosen to be the best method. Digital Database of Screening Mammograms (DDSM) is used for the purpose of screening. First, the images undergo pre-processing process using the Gaussian Low Pass Filter to remove unwanted noise. After that, contrast enhancement applied to the images. Segmentation of mammograms is then conducted by using Chan-Vese Active Contour and Localized Active Contour method. The result shows that Chan-Vese technique outperforms Localized Active Contour with 90% accuracy.

Abstract

The video streaming is one of the important application which consumes more bandwidth compared to non-real-time traffic. Most of the existing video transmissions are either using UDP or RTP over UDP. Since these protocols are not designed with congestion control, they affect the performance of peer video transmissions and the non-real-time applications. Like TFRC, Real-Time Media Congestion Avoidance (RMCAT) is one of the recently proposed frameworks to provide congestion control for real-time applications. Since the need for video transmission is increasing over the wireless LAN, in this paper the performance of the protocol was studied over WLAN with different network conditions. From the detailed study, we observed that RMCAT considers the packet losses due to the distance and channel conditions as congestion loss, and hence it reduced the sending rate thereby it affected the video transmission.
