Abstract

The purpose of this research study is exploring two kind of semantic repositories with regards to various factors to find the best approaches that an artificial manager can use to produce ontology in a system based on their interaction, association and research. To this end, as the best way to evaluate each system and comparing with others is analysis, several benchmarking over these two repositories were examined. These two semantic repositories: OWLIM and AllegroGraph will be the main core of this study.  The general objective of this study is to be able to create an efficient and cost-effective manner reports which is required to support decision making in any large enterprise.

Abstract

Time domain reflectometry (TDR) is an easy technique that provides quick response which is ideal for power utility companies to conduct cable diagnostics on-site. Electricity disruption due to power cable failure is a major challenge for power utility companies due to the long length of cable installed with joints. The long time taken to diagnose the defect along the cable before electricity can be restored has not only jeopardized the reputation of power utility companies but also brings losses to the economy. Hence, this study conducts experimental analysis on cable with two joints with the application of TDR technique to reduce the electricity disruption time. This research is divided into two stages where stage 1 conducts experiments on cable with one degraded section while stage 2 looks into cable with two degraded sections. The TDR reflection characteristics are studied from stage 1 experiments and applied to stage 2 experiments to verify the consistency of the TDR reflection characteristics. The cable conditions of stage 2 experiments are predicted using the reflection characteristics from stage 1 observations and are then validated by comparing these predictions with the actual cable configuration. Results obtained from these experiments have proven that the TDR reflection characteristics are consistent and accurate which can be used to sectionalize the degraded cable section. Detail findings of all experiments conducted with the TDR application are discussed in part three of this paper.

Abstract

In this paper Embedded based Z-source multilevel inverter (ZSMLI) is proposed. This work implements a five level cascaded H-bridge Z-source inverter by using embedded control. Switching devices are triggered using embedded controller. In this controller coding is described by using switching table. The presence of Z-source network couples inverter main circuit to the power source that providing special features that can overcome the limitations of VSI (voltage source inverter) and CSI (current source inverter). The Z-source concept can applicable in all dc-ac, dc-dc, ac-dc and ac-ac power conversions. Simulation model of Z-source multilevel inverter based on embedded controller has been built in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The Performance parameters of Z-source MLI such as RMS (root mean square) output voltage, THD (total harmonic distortion) and DC component have been analysed for various inductance (L) and capacitance (C) value.

Abstract

This paper evaluates the recognition performance of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Bag of Features (BoF) for multiple font digit recognition. Font digit recognition is part of character recognition that is used to translate images from many document-input tasks such as handwritten, typewritten and printed text.  BoF is a popular machine learning method while CNN is a popular deep learning method.  Experiments were performed by applying BoF with Speeded-up Robust Feature (SURF) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier and compared with CNN on Chars74K dataset. The recognition accuracy produced by BoF is just slightly lower than CNN where the accuracy of CNN is 0.96 while the accuracy of BoF is 0.94.

Abstract

Study on the fault diagnosis method through the combination of decision classification algorithms and expert system. The method of extracting diagnosis rules with the CTree software was given, and a fault diagnosis system based on CLIPS was developed. In order to verify the feasibility of the method, at first the sample data was got through the simulations under fault of direct-drive wind turbine and gearbox, then the diagnosis rules was extracted with the CTree software, at last the fault diagnosis system proposed and the rules was used to extracted to diagnose the fault simulated. Test results showed that the misdiagnosis rate both within 5%, thus the feasibility of the method was verified. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i5.1281

Abstract

In view of personalinformation leakage risk in the process of online payment, this study putsforward a cloud protection system which can improve personal informationsecurity. The system includes two modules: personal information security modeland cloud service providers trust evaluation system. Among them, the personalinformation security model includes four layers design: the user, interface, platform and management layers. User layer is used to complete the userauthentication and login, interface layer is used for the classification andencryption of complex personal information, platform layer is used to completethe data storage, and the management layer is used to guarantee the overalleffectiveness of the system work. The cloud serviceproviders trust evaluation system based on the Theory of Membership Degree, canimprove the trust assessment level to cloud service providers. This study canensure the personal information security in the online sales, and be beneficialto the healthy development of e-commerce. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3704

Abstract

This paper aimed to design and realized Qiqihar urban video surveillance system and use advanced design solutions to improve the traditional city video surveillance system based on EPON technology. Hierarchical design was proposed and a detailed analysis of each design was given. The system not only has expanded capabilities in the structure, but also has integrated application capabilities in the business, including image transmission, remote monitoring, remote centralized digital image data storage, remote real-time on-demand playback (stored data image). The result shows that the system can completely solve the digitization of the monitoring system and the process of networking bottlenecks. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i6.3631

Abstract

As mainstream of wireless communication system, digital communication system cannot directly transmit digital baseband signals that must be modulated at the sender before being sent into wireless channel.Digital modulation that is using baseband signals to control the parameters of carrier, includes amplitude modulation, frequency modulation and phase modulation.Noise existing in wireless channel can seriously affect signal’s transmission performance.AWGN (additive white Gaussian noise) channel is the most simple radio channel, this paper aims at transmission performance analysis of three kinds of digital modulation signals in AWGN channel and comparing the simulation value with theoretical value that’s not affected by AWGN,the idea proposed in this paper includes four ways that cover the comparison between simulated BER(bit error rate) and theoretical BER,simulated SER(symbol error rate) and theoretical SER,the simulation results show the difference about transmission performance of modulated signals with or without AWGN. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i2.2065
