Abstract

Hilbert Vibration Decomposition (HVD) is introduced to the voltage flicker analysis. When voltage flicker accompanies with high order harmonics, the instantaneous frequency of its analytic signal in principle consists of two different parts, power frequency and a rapidly varying asymmetrical oscillating part. The important property of the instantaneous frequency offers a direct way to estimate the power frequency using a low-pass filter and remove the high order harmonics without pre-treatment procedures. Corresponding voltage flicker envelope is estimated using synchronous detection. The HVD method does not involves basic functions that the wavelet transform method needs. It can also adaptively estimate the frequency and amplitude of every modulation frequency component. Simulation results prove that the proposed method could accurately detect voltage flicker with high order harmonics. It has higher calculation efficiency and detection precision than wavelet transform method. Experimental results show that the new algorithm is feasible and efficient.

Abstract

Brushless DC motors (BLDC) are predominantly used these days due to its meritorious advantages over conventional motors. The paper presents PV fed BLDC speeds control system. A closed-loop interleaved boost converter increases the voltage from PV system to required level. Converter for BLDC operates at fundamental switching frequency which reduces losses due to high switching frequency. Internal current control method is developed and employed for the speed control of PV fed BLDC motor by sensing the actual speed feedback. Internal current controlled PV fed BLDC drive is analyzed with increamental speed with fixed torque and decreamental speed with fixed torque operating conditions. Also the system with speed control is verified for variable torque condition. The system is developed and results are developed using MATLAB/SIMULINK software.

Abstract

Aiming at the stochastic vehicle routing problems with simultaneous pickups and deliveries, a novel discrete differential evolution algorithm is proposed for routes optimization. The algorithm can directly be used for the discrete domain by special design. Computational simulations and comparisons based on two kinds of problems of different sizes of SVRPSPD are provided. Results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm obtains better results than the basic differential evolution algorithm and the existing genetic algorithm. http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2346

Abstract

In this era of globalization, natural phenomena often invade the human population. Natural phenomena such as sinkholes often occur in countries whose topology lies in active limestone areas. Malaysia is one of the countries with active limestone areas, especially in the Klang Valley and its surrounding areas. Since 1968, the increase in sinkhole cases in Malaysia has been reported frequently. This has caused many building infrastructures to be destroyed, loss of life and destruction of property. So, one of the steps to overcome this problem is to do an in-depth study of the sinkhole. Therefore, Sinkhole Hazard Model (SHM) has been created with a combination of GIS integration by using probability techniques. There are five criteria suitable for Malaysian topography namely Lithology (LT), Soil Types (ST), Landuse (LU), Groundwater Level Decline (GLD) and Proximity to Groundwater Wells (PGW). Based on probability calculations, GLD and LU have shown a high impact on sinkhole formation. A hazard zonation map has been produced where it has been classified into five parts namely none, low, medium, high and very high. The results were validated with previous inventory data comprising 33 data. Based on the results obtained, 36.37% and 39.39% of the sinkhole formation has fallen into high and very high areas respectively. Based on these final results, the integration between GIS and probability techniques is useful in natural phenomena such as sinkhole formation.

Abstract

This paper presents solution trajectories for programmed PWM technique to eliminate specific order harmonics in a single phase inverter. Evolutionary algorithm is applied to determine optimum switching angles in order to elmininate low order harmonics for modulation index: -1 £ M £ +1. An implementation using a DE2-115 Cyclone IVE FPGA device is also reported in this paper. The experimental results show that the technique effectively eliminates the specific harmonics, and offers low harmonic distortions on the inverter output after filtering.

Abstract

The warm and humid condition is the characteristic of Malaysia tropical climate. Prediction of rain occurrences is important for the daily operations and decisions for the country that rely on agriculture needs. However predicting rainfall is a complex problem because it is effected by the dynamic nature of the tropical weather parameters of atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, dew point and wind speed. Those parameters have been used in this study. The rainfall prediction are compared and analyzed.   Fuzzy Logic and Fuzzy Inference System can deal with ambiguity that often occurred in meteorological prediction; it can easily incorporate with expert knowledge and empirical study into standard mathematical. This paper will determine the dependability of Fuzzy Logic approach in rainfall prediction within the given approximation of rainfall rate, exploring the use of Fuzzy Logic and to develop the fuzzified model for rainfall prediction. The accuracy of the proposed Fuzzy Inference System model yields 72%

Abstract

The recent paradigm shift in the IT sector leading to cloud computing however innovative had brought along numerous data security concerns. One major such security laps is that referred to as the Man in the Middle (MITM) attack where external data are injected to either hijack a data in transit or to manipulate the files and object by posing as a floating cloud base. Fresh algorithms for cloud data protection do exist however, they are still prone to attack especially in real-time data transmissions due to employed mechanism. Hence, a validation protocol algorithm based on hash function labelling provides a one-time security header for transferable files that protects data in transit against any unauthorized injection. The labelling header technique allows for a two-way data binding; DOM based communication between local and cloud computing that triggers automated acknowledgment immediately after file modification. A two layer encryption functions in PHP was designed for detecting injected object; bcrypt methods in Laravel and MD5 that generate 32 random keys. A sum total of 1600 different file types were used during training then evaluation of the proposed algorithm, where 87% of the injected objects were correctly detected.

Abstract

Nowadays application of advanced power electronic technology enables producing an AC supply with a phase number higher than three-phase. Five-phase voltage source inverters (5ph-VSI) have been used in advanced power electronic drives to improve the reliability of the drive system and to boost the power capability of the converter as well as to their other inherent merits. This paper shows the mathematical analysis and simulation of the third harmonic injection pulse width modulation (THI-PWM) 5ph-VSI connected with inductive load in three scenarios i.e. star, Pentagon and pentacle. The presented THI-PWM technique for 5ph-VSI aims to increase the inverter fundamental voltage and hence to maximize the utilization of the DC bus without causing over-modulation. The simulation results are compared with typical sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) and the 10-step mode operation. The proposed scheme may be considered as a compromise case between the two reference cases;  as low harmonic components compared with 10-step mode operation and a high utilization factor compared with SPWM.

Abstract

The paper presents a numerical method based on Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) in both frequency and time domain for modeling the coupling of an incident electromagnetic pulse(EMP) with a conducting wire through a metallic shielding enclosure with a small aperture. Simulation and analysis are done by radius, length, and number of the wires, the incidence angle of EMP and the polaration angle of electric field in consideration. The simulation result shows that interference of the electromagnetic coupling into the shielding enclosure can be affected in different degrees by above factors. At low frequency, the larger the leakage length, the radius or the number of the wire penetrated into the cavity, the more interference is coupled into the shielding cavity from electromagnetic field. Also, the smaller the incident direction angle of propagation of the electromagnetic pulse or the polarization direction angle of the incident electric field, the more easily the electromagnetic interference is coupled into the cavity. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i2.3984

Abstract

This paper established the high limit penetration power of a certain area including wind power grid model in 30.084% value, in the high limit penetration power transmission network by small disturbance voltage influence. Through the power flow calculation power flow distribution of the viewing area, with the reactive power compensation voltage were optimized. The impact on the system voltage load disturbance by PV-QV curve analysis. And its system reactive power margin and other issues. By the above calculation, the grid is analyzed in access high wind power penetration limit under the feasibility and reliability of operation, and its impact on the static voltage grid system analysis. Make wind power grid reliable access high penetration power frontier research.
